Not sure how to treat fate-locked story that grants you fate to complete it so i'll keep from spoilers for now. But suffice to say that number of options alone made be giddy. And i thought this feast would be boring.

I was very pleased to see an option to remain untattooed, but still gain something by that choice. It can be discouraging to have to choose between mechanical advantage and staying true to myself (or in this case, my imaginary Fallen Londoner alter-ego). I've never particularly cared for tattoos. I wanted a point of Bizarre, and was tempted to finally get that Ubergoat and get the matching tattoo...but ultimately, I'd rather remain unmarked. Respectable is the stat I need raised the least, but it's still nice to have a little that's permanent, and it will help with Notability just as much as Bizarre would have. Thanks for that, Failbetter.

Intriguing, and not a little baffling! I always overthink such content. In the end, Sir Fred argued that love was a motivating force, neither good nor bad (the base of all metaphysics, as Whitman wrote,) and then chose a tattoo that was aesthetically pleasing, enigmatic to others, but laden with personal significance. Hubris described love as transactional - and no doubt he meant it - but then betrayed a certain sentimental streak with a tattoo of his homeland, such as it is. Juniper preached the loyalty of love, and, true to form, took on the tattoo of a loved one now gone - poor child. Esther speculated on the role of love in the narratives of history, and selected a tattoo of a revolutionary symbol from a year that might never come.

Deciding between tattoos - and ideas of love - was so difficult! But I loved every tortuous minute of thinking, not the least because it reminded me of my two favourite characters from Planescape: Torment: Fell, the tattoo artist, and Ravel Puzzlewell, who asks a similar question. In the end, I answered that love is a mystery, and chose to get a Parabola tattoo (as I'm a glassman). The absolutely best part of the whole conversation, I feel, has to be finally watching the Seventh Letter! This is a tiny bit of lore that's fascinated me since I started playing. Now, to ponder and speculate!

Also, by converting all my Masquing I only had to put up with Lilac on my hand of cards, and not her and An Encounter at the Feast.
Even if the waves would've meant an entire level of Notability I'm sure that not having to put up with that extra card for over a month has been worth it. Well... maybe? Nah, probably not. The useful cards I save aren't that important anyway. But I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten that much Making Waves. Pretty sure...

So, by this point, if the option is still around, we have an indefinite amount of time to complete it? Or do we only have until the end of March, three days away? I've been desperately trying to raise my Correspondence, so I can have the Scar in the Sky tattoo...and then I just discovered I need a watchful of 170ish to proceed. I was so excited that the Shadowy Dealings in the University could increase it, but I hadn't known the level requirement. So, a few questions I suppose: Is there any other way to raise Correspondence to 10, other then Shadowy Dealings in the University? Does Millicent's Parlour disappear by the end of March, or is it safe, waiting for me to complete? Good ways to grind Watchful? It's easily 30 points ahead of every other stat of mine, without items. But apparently it's not enough.

Looks like we now know what St. E's candle is. This also looks like it might be the very end of Mr. Eaten's storyline, or close to it. So, should I save my skin for defilement, or should I get a tattoo now and pay fate for the name later?

I'm actually most interested by that last snippet @MaskedGentleman echoed--is it true that, aside from the specific tattoo, there is no permanent quality or item given by your choice? Interesting...I haven't decided exactly what my character wants from her, so the decision is exquisitely painful.

Well, I loved the narrative content, both on the side of sheer writing and of lore. Also Lilac is a fascinating character, too bad I'm no Legendary Charisma to be able to court her. But I tried to meet her tastes anyway just because my character's flirty XD
Now I'm deciding the tattoo. I have a question about that - does the tattoo increase the base value of the quality (the red number before the sign +) or the bonus (the white number after the +)? (I'm still deciding whether to go for Bizarre or Dreaded: my first choice would have been the Knife-and-Candle or the Correspondence, but the Invisible City is captivating as well).

I am pretty much all but certain that random tattoos won't get you the Name; you can mouse over the Skin-Bound Memory requirement on the Rework option to see an entire list of possible tattoos; the Name isn't there! But I think getting the Name tattooed on you at some point is definitely a thing. You just can't accidentally discover Eaten's Name by getting hell drunk.
