I wonder if Loitering could be made more appealing to players. Perhaps one could gain Connected: Criminals (or even Favours, but that might make it a bit too overpowered, unless it's a chance to get Favours) even as they lose Connected: Society, and perhaps there could be a 50/50 chance of either gaining or losing MW (Since 'waves' among the criminal element of society apply too, as the heist success texts suggest. Maybe one might lose the usual amount that other actions provide, but the gains provide twice as much, so that it averages out to be comparable to other social actions). It just seems odd that a social action should be so detrimental compared to its equivalents for other stats.

Am I the only one who has found the free content updates (or general lack thereof) to be a bit disappointing? I'm not trying to start a big argument, but back in the day there was a small amount of Fate-locked content and it was all good but the main game was the main work. While I don't mind more premium content, and I've paid to play a decent bit of it, but the ratio of premium to free is getting really imbalanced. Now I've been checking the game every few weeks or every month or so and it seems like there's been next to no free updates, except to early game, which I swear has been reworked for something like the third time now. I'm not sure, maybe I've simply missed them talking about progress on free updates, I have recently been out of the loop.

It seems like the only guaranteed content is the monthly story for Exceptional Friends, and what little free content I've been able to access as a late-game (endgame with the current state of things) player seemed lower quality than it once was, in particular the last Heart's Desire update seemed very rushed and short and was egregiously padded out with zailing.

I know Failbetter has to make ends meet and all that but it's awful to see what was once one of my favorite games, with the best atmosphere, story, and lore I've seen, is now putting almost all of its content behind a monthly paywall. And don't get me wrong, I've played a lot of the Fate-locked content and what I did play was top-notch and I don't really have any buyer's remorse (except for maybe the Blemmigan Affair) but what I loved about this game was how dedicated the devs were, how great their storytelling was, and their solid connection with the community, and I don't want them to fall down the path of far too many game devs these days and focus on money first above all else.

Sorry that this turned into such a long post. I just don't want to see such a great game to take this sort of turn. Maybe I'm just being impatient and they've got free content plans after the mobile things and SS dlc get worked out, but to be fair, there hasn't been as much updating the community on what's going on these days and the Parabola board is more about mechanical changes than content. It just seems like everything now is either a UI or quality-of-life change or some premium stories. I think I've played maybe a few hours altogether for most of this year. Back in the day, I'd check every week or so and at least keep up with things on the forums. Nowadays the only discussion on the forums is from new players, people playing the Fate-locked content, and the like. I hope that I don't come across as demanding. I'm not trying to say "Oh I deserve nothing but free content!" but there's always been a fluctuating ratio of premium to free content releases and it seems like we've come to a point where free stories have fallen to the wayside.

TL;DR: I'm hoping we get more free content releases soon or at least get more information on content plans as, hopefully, the lack of content is just due to work on the mobile app.

You know, this gives me an idea. What if FBG hosts a monthly (or bi-monthly) contest asking users to send their exceptional stories for each of the Four main stats. The winners gets a fair amount of FATE and have their stories adapted as free content.
1) FBG writers get less effort to generate content since these stories may only need some editing and should not necessarily affect the core narrative of Fallen London. We do have the "Ratness" items as an example that user-content can inspire things within the Neath.
2) Storywriters have a chance of getting FATE. I think this is self-explanatory.
3) All FL players get access to new content.

I can understand Failbetter not wanting to do this but I think it is definitely a really neat idea! At the very least I wish there were more ways to earn Fate in-game. At the very beginning they give you fate and there are about two stories that reward Fate at the end beside, but seeing that most of the new content is Fate-locked it is really unpleasant to be unable to get Fate when I need it. I really do miss hoarding it as a reminder of my accomplishments. Obviously I don't expect them to throw large sums of Fate left and right, but it would be nice to have more opportunities to earn small amounts.

I wish there was an equivalent to "Reminiscing about your adventures" for other story lines than just the Ambitions. Yes, the ambitions are definitely on the longer end, but I'd like to have all of my dream tidbits attached together (or the faction-specific text from the Jack case, as another example) and easier to browse.

I think removing the MW loss is enough to make Loitering more attractive to POSI's. Making it a 50/50 chance like the bout and chess actions would make it even better. Adding favours might be a bit too OP since this makes the social action as a reliable grind, a thing that is against the spirit of the Criminal Favours.

At the moment, I think the quickest way to mitigate the MW drain is to quickly ask the other person for coffee as soon as they sent the loitering request.

I don't know if this is feasible with the current code, but I'd really like the ability to flag qualities to be quickly referenceable, like the current option to flag storylets as Plans and view them in their own tab. I've spent way too much time wading through my qualities list to find things like MW and CtD, and it'd be really nice to have a tab or list just of the qualities I'm actively tracking.

Not super important, but I wish the journals had a "go to" button or something so that I don't have to click and scroll and click and scroll through every page.

Just a fleeting idea while drinking coffee. What if we have Second Chances for luck challenges? Perhaps loaded devilbone dice would be a good name for it.

If it helps, open the relevant section and 'ctrl +f' to skip to the quality you want to find smile

Oh, sure -- it's just a convenience thing, I guess? It'd be nice to easily reference these things all in one section. (Also, I am terrible about remembering which quality type various qualities are sorted under and don't want to sort through a lot of types...)

Could I kindly suggest to have Making Waves added to the sidebar? It is really tedious to have to switch out scrapbook qualities (particularly on a mobile device) for something which is frequently referenced!

For POSI, it is of obvious utility. But, surely it is handy even for non-POSI players as a reminder they could offer up their services at Dante's Grill for profit.

Please do not send SMEN, cat boxes, or Affluent Reporter requests. All other social actions are welcome.

Are you a Scarlet Saint? Send a message my way to be added to the list.

Parelle, until MWs migrate onto the sidebar (which would be fantastic) an easier way to see your current level is to add the Amanuensis' "I deserve a more emphatic type-face, at the very least" to your Plans. Much easier than going to the Myself tab or switching things on your mantle.

An excellent idea! Thank you very much. And I'm quite glad to hear that the change may be coming soon.

I had to update my credit card data because it had expired. Unfortunately, it appears there was no option to do so with my Account, and I had to cancel my Exceptional Friendship to do so. But then I could not re-register as an E.F. until the Friendship expired, which meant, in the bottom line, that I lost 20 actions because I only had one candle this morning. If there is an option to simply modify payment data, I was too much of a numbskull to see it, so it might behoove FBG to either create that option, or label it more clearly.

It's kind of a shame there is no counter for minor works at the Empress's Court. It would be useful for bragging rights, for those who grind insane amounts of pointless things, to have evidence, e.g., of how many symphonies they have composed. Surely at least one player would make it a goal to out-produce Leif Segerstam (291 and counting).
And for those of lesser ambition, it would be useful to see a count while one was, e.g., grinding symphonies for SotC.

I am sure there are deep structural reasons for this. But it is a constant minor vexation that "onwards" after a storylet sometimes means "go back to the list of storylets" and sometimes means "try again."

I'm never a "grammar nazi" and this is definitely something that has always confused me. There have been some changes lately that have removed the 'try again' function from certain outlets that I have grinded where I use to be able to just click "Try this again".

I was keeping this to myself but am glad I'm not the only one who gets irked by this.

A question regarding Exceptional Stories following Heart's Blood: will it be possible to implement some sort of survey about what subject the exceptional stories ought to tackle next - maybe through another Enterprising Urchin card? I quite like the stories we've had so far, but being able to help decide what new content we're likely to get a few months from now would be fantastic (and I'd like to pre-emptively throw my hat in to finally visiting the Masters' summer homes beneath the city...)

There needs to be a Watchful + BDR item from the Incarnadine Fur Robe items. Perhaps a Partially Eaten Candle from a long abandoned room in the Bazaar that boosts Watchful and Dreaded.

Yeah, the telescope only gives more Watchful. It should be an option indeed. (But considering you only use it to raise MW at the draw for the card/using the card, it's not priority. it's not like getting the Telescope instead would hurt the 300 Watchful check for example when trying to be up your Profession. But for all consistent options, this is missing.)
