Not always. "Write a sharp note and send the flowers back" will lose you a Hell favor if you have one, but you don't need one to play that option.

I'm curious what option you're talking about.

I'm almost certain everything on that card says how many favors are needed. In order to hide that, it would have to leave it out of the branch requirements, which would let you spend more favors than you had.

Everything that says it requires X favors will cost X favors. I don't think there are any exceptions, and if there are, just allow yourself to be pleasantly surprised if you click on one and don't lose the favors.

There are only a few options in the game that have "This will cost X" instead of the regular branch requirements, mostly in the Bazaar Side-Streets. They have the annoying quirk of not showing how much you currently have and not mentioning the loss and new total in the result, and apparently fixing that was so complicated that Failbetter opted to just stop using that feature instead.

Journal, as an idea, is great, but in the current state, unless you're looking for something you echoed a few days ago, is not very useful. I think it would benefit greatly from a search function. To reread a result I echoed some time ago I have to search the web with site filter on, using quotes from wiki.

I did wonder whether the cost of previous Exceptional Stories could be adjusted.

I mean, I can understand the higher cost for say the first year, but they cost 45 Fate, which is £7.92, and - especially in a lockdown world - a pretty steep cost. Like I say, I get that it's to persuade people to an Exceptional Friendship, but - especially as this comes with extra unique perks in itself, like the invaluable extra 20 actions - I thought maybe some lowered cost (or maybe periodic "sales") could be given to older content.

If say after a year or two, or during an occasional "sale", prices dropped to £5.00 (or even say £6, so as to keep the incentive to subscribe), it would make content a lot more accessible . . . I'm not on staff to know if it's feasible or not, but it feels like 5 people buying at £5 is a lot more profit than 1 person buying at what's basically £8.

On a totally different note, though -

Unless I've just not gotten far enough and there's a spoiler reason, it'd be great to see the Wandering Gondolier become a spouse option, too.

I'm finding the gradual removal of Notability-based stat increases confusing to navigate. I'm not sure if I am hitting paywalls or progress walls at the designated new locations. I have high Notability ready to use but I think it's all based on choices deep inside the railway and other new expeditions. I shall probably resort to Wiki-sleuthing and pretend my character has been asking around about means to bettering oneself in various ways. I don't even know if the new stat increases require maintaining the high Notability any more or if it's just some lucky pathway outcomes or another resource management game.

The Paramount Presence option to set all stats to 215 for 15 Notability is still there, but the new ways of increasing the stat caps require neither Notability nor luck. They do require a laboratory, a railway, and a Parabolan base camp. And they only go up to 212 so far. (206 for Shadowy.) "Dizzying new heights" have not yet been achieved.

Thank you kindly, PJ. Can I obtain Paramount Presence from the Unfinished Business card without having everything at 215 already? I have most at 212 and 211, etc.

I don't actually know for sure, since I spent most of the month before the change focusing on getting Paramount Presence of the Ancient Regime, and never had to deal with that aspect of the change.

I *believe* you only need to get to the current maximum, not 215, but I think getting the London's [body part] quality still requires the specialization (Extraordinary Mind, Shattering Force, etc.), and switching specializations *does* require Notability. (Resetting the specialization if you already have one is under "Attend to Matters of Society" in Your Social Engagements)

Failbetter, you're so cruel! For years I've been begging you to let me marry the Esoteric Accomplice... and you introduce marrying the Fabulous Accomplice!

Ok then, but next year, please!

I'm still relatively new to Fallen London, but I had a small problem (my fault) yesterday, and now I can say that Failbetter's customer support is as great as their storytelling! Thanks, Olivia!

When going "All Aboard!" and catching the train out West from London, I think 90% of my trips to Balmoral end with me gawping at Station VIII instead (slept past my stop, I suppose). I don't think the word "Balmoral" should appear in the "Station VIII" option, especially not earlier in the title. It's not a terrible inconvenience, but it does seem needless.

Speaking of train trips, Ealing->London is the only one that doesn't give a Rumor of the Upper River. That feels like it might just be an oversight.

I do wish there was some warning when some innocuous action would lower one of your quirks, that's at 15. I just lost a point of Melancholy on some random Burial of the Dead card, and that's very difficult to restore. Even the new dishes at Station VIII can't raise things from 14 back to 15.

It's particularly galling when "X has dropped to 14" is paired with "Y has not increased because it's higher than 4".

The above reminds me:

I'd love a confirmation box on Fate options; like a "are you sure you want to click this?" . . . in the past, there have been way too many instances of my accidentally spending fate, especially on mobile, because of a misclick. Considering it's real-life cash, I'd rather like the security of knowing tapping or clicking at the wrong point won't automatically result in a loss of money.

Please, please add a way to expand hand size in the lab. Just to 4, even. I'd pay thousands of echoes or tens of fate for this.

With an infinite-draw deck and discardable cards, there's no point in having a hand-size limit at all. Smaller hand size just means a few more clicks before you can see the option you plan on playing.

I mean yes, that's the point. I don't want to have to keep doing those extra clicks 50-60 times a day.
