With the constantly increasing number of Exceptional Stories, I do think at some point some kind of discount model should be implemented. In addition to the ideas above, I could see something like "Subscribe this month and you get the current ES plus an older one for free". Maybe this would work especially well during the Festivals, when (I guess) lots of irregular players who don't often or ever subscribe are drawn back to the game. This might give them an additional incentive to subscribe.

Please, please, please bring back "Who Else is Here?" The game seems so dead without it. You have to go outside the game to find people to interact with, and I don't think that is a good thing.

Please relax with the downvoting, people. Tier 4 professions and Ambition endings are perfectly reasonable requests.
@MrCandles: I believe Failbetter said finishing the Ambitions is planned to happen soon. We don't know exactly when, but they haven't been abandoned.

I think the problem is the tone and the individualism in most of his posts. He, himself and him.

"Who else is here?" had another useful function. It would let you know whether a character was logged in currently, and thus was still being actively played.

Mostly this. Not every player is active in the social platforms. I know I only visit the forums, and I did that only after a year of playing. "Who else..." made social actions possible.

It seems that I misinterpreted the text to mean that one gender had a vote and one did not, (let alone as to where that left characters of mysterious and indistinct gender). As a result I felt offended and wrote a lot in support of why that gender should get the vote. Still, I am sure I can't be the only disenfranchised female player who takes the issue to heart.
My one big question is, why, then, in a game that otherwise tries quite hard with gender balance, are women the only ones singled out for text about not having the vote? Why doesn`t it say, `one day all citizens might vote` or something similar?
Wouldn`t deleting those few words greatly improve the game whilst not affecting the gameplay at all?
If no one has a vote then deleting the confusing references to one specific gender not being allowed to vote would make the whole thing a non-issue, as well as a lot clearer to players.
Graduate Advice is a terrible card all round and should be retired. Why is there no pair Graduate Advice card for men? Why can I advise an educated woman to stay home and raise a family but not a man? Why can't I advise her to buy a ship and build a trading empire? Why not at least something that ties in with the university like advise her to study bats?

Characters not really vote. They just work as agitators, fixers or campaigners. Only head of guild vote to Lord Mayor. So female characters not vote. You are wrong. If you are SJW, you are entirely wrong.
Babel: MrCandles has been banned for persistent low-value posts and incivility, and for not making any recognisable efforts to improve in these respects after a warning.
Edit: MrCandles/Hermione has also had their FL accounts deactivated, for seeking to evade a forum ban.

I haven't gotten the "A familiar face by the school railings" card in ages, even though I have all the unlock qualities for it.
Has this got anything to do with the card drawing bug?
