If you consider that odd, ask the Ninth Space Marine about his wedding.

I paid for at least two thirds of a ship with rats so I could marry a rat. It's nice how things work out.

Super excited to be married, but can spouses really not treat their sweethearts to X on the Matters of the Heart page? Just because I've been successfully wooed doesn't mean I want to sit home every night!

We plan to add new social actions for player spouses - we want to make different activities available once you're married.

Weddings are such a big, complex set of content, though, we want to phase things in. If you've got ideas for things you'd like to do with your spouse, by all means suggest them!

taking ballroom dancing lessons together, and so on.

  • Slightly off-topic, but this reminds me of a glaring gap in the list of things to do in Fallen London...why is there no sort of ballroom dancing competition? I could see it working similarly to Knife-and-Candle, but based off of Persuasive and Scandal instead of Dangerous and Wounds--a friendly competition for those less interested in stabbing people. wink

  • With regards to marriage activities...what about children? I know it's a bit early in most of these characters' marriages to be thinking about that, but lore-wise is it even a possibility, or is there something about the Neath that prevents it? (Are the ranks of the Urchins constantly decreasing over time as their members grow up, or are new children being born to replenish their numbers?)

The Neath does not prevent reproduction.

Although there is at least one in the Bazaar which would rather such stories end before they have begun.

Let's all just take a moment to imagine what this wedding must have looked like.

(Congratulations, you two! You are, so far, the only people to have married in St. Fiacre's.)

Wow. Encouraging. Mr. Malkus and I have about 4600 Organizing right now; we're aiming for a St. Fiacre's wedding also.

  • Nice! The_Whitness and I have about 4600 as well, and we're hoping for (or are resigned to) a St. Fiacre's wedding as well.

  • So. Many. Rats. Argh.

I also noticed that you can, after you're married, admit your affection for another player. More to the point, you can admit your affection for anyone other than your spouse. Being polyamorous IRL means this isn't weird to me but it might be jarring for someone who a) doesn't want to cheat on their spose and b) whose relationship agreement includes "monogamous".

That said, I totally support poly in FL Big Grin

    Wait.
So you can declare your love for anyone except your spouse?
This will keep the wits of Mahogany Hall in material for weeks!

At the moment my character's fiancé has exactly around 28235 rats as he's been doing nothing but grinding for them at the Eradication Department. Not the most effective way but he's… getting somewhere since the number of rats seem to multiply/add to what your current Dangerous base stat is. It was 24 before and not its 42.

Also -- He has the most unbalanced stats I have ever seen since he's 'low-stats' in terms of… there rest of his qualities. Look at this!

  • I am 110% okay with this. (Well, I'll like more options to do things with my spouse, too, but I don't want to completely close off polyaffectionate options even if Fallen London is a one-spouse town.)

This is intentional. It gives us some mechanical hooks we can use to create all sorts of trouble/entertainment for you when we decide to implement the content for it.

  • Totally agree with this. I still think it'd be amusing to be able to have multiple Constant Companions (ie, a player spouse, a jewel thief, etc.) and only be able to equip one item at a time, similar to other Home Comforts. Because, I dunno, that just makes perfect sense in my life? wink

  • My giggling glee, let me show you it. Given that my spouse and I have seduced pretty much everyone in Fallen London that we've encountered and can (we haven't encountered everyone yet though!) and declared that this wasn't going to change just because we got married, I think this is fantastic and I very much look forward both to things to do with my Player!Spouse and to seeing what kinds of trouble and merriment we can get into with declaring affection for Not!Spouse.
