That was a tale of (t)error if I ever heard one. According to Hwoosh's comment on the wikia article you were apparently supposed to get the Rostygold as well as the Tale of Terror. So were I in your position I would report that as a bug to:
support@failbettergames.com
(If the Rules are to be believed. I think I have seen other email-addresses being suggested for bug reports.)

Just did, and deleted my post, although apparently too late.
Original Post:
I tried to claim the bounty on about 1500 dead rats, and got nothing except
a tale of terror for it. The result was titled "A Queue Enlivened By
Gossip", and said that I got a Tale of Terror!!!, lost all my rats on a
string, and rostygold remained unchanged. I was expecting about 16 Echoes
worth of rostygold, so getting nothing is kinda annoying. Can somebody
explain this, or am I simply out 1500 rats?
I checked the Wiki, and it doesn't list this as a possible result, nor can
I find any other reports of this. Is this new, or a bug of some sort?
