Oh God I do know it! I was surprised to read that it was a real nursery song, then I listened to it and even though I've never heard the lyrics the melody is extremely familiar. I'm sure I must have had a music box or something playing it. (For the info, I grew up in France and Germany. Well, mostly France, but my aunt in Germany whom I visited regularly had a music box and I suspect it might have been this one.)

This is a song with many regional variants. In the time and place I was a boy, we learned the second verse thus:
