But the Noman seems to be a seasonal thing, and perhaps (just perhaps) there might be some special thing for a Noman who lives to experience the Feast of the Exceptional Rose. And in that case it wouldn't be fair to people who bought their Noman early if they have to spend a lot of resources and effort to keep their Noman alive for six weeks, while someone who comes in just before the wicket closes might only have to keep their Noman alive for three weeks, with no added cost.

Another possible reason is to discourage you from thinking of the Noman as a resource which you can use up, and then buy another one. (Though admittedly there'd be subtler, and perhaps easier, ways to achieve the same effect.)
