It does seem this story would have benefitted from being a storylet, rather than relying on cards. My sympathies to those who have lost their Nomen. (I didn't get one, I wanted as many lodgings as I could manage.)

My Progress is at 12. I've been flipping for eleven days.
It's not so bad for me, but he is draining quirks very fast. I think by the time I reach 15, I will only have Magnanimous and Subtle left. I am not sure the reward is worth the loss of all those quirks. Especially for people with quirks over the cap. But it's too late to stop now)

So my Noman is at 15 Progress and exactly at 1 Friend. Should I take the plunge and gain an elemental secret or try the other options. I'd like to know if there is an option to get Tears, or what the others got.

I've not heard of any option that produces Tears. There is, of course, the possibility that some opportunity will come in February or whenever for those who managed to keep their Nomen alive till then, but there's just as likely a chance that the Friend deduction rate will increase as the weather gets "warmer." As of now, I'm pretty sure the Elemental Secret is the only real Noman reward (unless the second Progress option on the card, the one that doesn't kill your Noman, has increasingly valuable rewards depending on your level. I wouldn't know.)

  • As for the quirk drain, I just took someone's advice and ground (grinded?) Subtle at the Docks between card draws. It used to be pretty high, so I miss that, but it was the only quirk that took the damage, and the Secret was worth it for me.

I know what three of the options do when you fail and only one of them is worth anything at all. (a bucket of lacre). If you're one of the lucky ones to hit 15, go for it. I couldn't manage it no matter how much I flipped.

Just for the record, my Noman still lives (barely) and I see no new options on the Noman card, nor do I see any special options in any of the locations in London. While I could keep it alive for a few more weeks, in the hope that the flash of light would do something, doing so would prevent any involvement in the feast, be hideously expensive, and I doubt that I would have the luck necessary to log on at the right time to see the flash anyway.

Overall: there does not seem to be any incentive to keep a Noman alive any longer than the neath allows (unless you like Mr. Eaten style content). From a 'profit' perspective, the best option is to not make one in the first place - any interaction will cost more echoes than can be gotten from more traditional grinds (unless there's a benefit to nuking one's quirks).

Might write more later, once it's finally melted all the way.

That's really too bad. I was hoping that there might be a 'Parson Brown' option for the player-spouses [as in the song? 'In the winter, we can build a snowman and pretend that he is Parson Brown; he'll say "Are you married?" we'll say "Noman! But you can do the job..." ']

    so
if ANYONE still has a noman

Posted prematurely. Gah. But if anyone still has one through some unbelievable miracle, there's some bits of content in the Feast-conclusion that require a living noman.

I would be very interested if anyone still has a noman alive. They would have had to stockpile a LOT of lacre (tears or pails) or else been very good at farming tears.

I'm really interested in the text for the Face in the Snow tattoo.

Which, I suppose, is also available through the randomizer and probably a lot more likely that way. So the text for 'Love is sacrifice' must be a lot harder to get ahold of. If anyone can do it, please take the chance and echo it!
