So this silver-bordered storylet appears after you finished twelve days of Mr Sacks and apparently will allow us to descend beneath the Bazaar. Right now the option to do so is still locked with Impossible though. It requires lacre quality of 3 as well. And it appears this storylet will disappear at the end of January. Btw it's not an oppurtunity card.

The problem with the five-card overlapping lodging approach was how it looks when you have a half-empty hand, because card slots overlapped. We thought we could work round that, but ran out of time. We will revisit at some point - I know the line wrap isn't ideal :-( edited by Alexis on 1/9/2014

I invested in a Suite right away, but then had to think for a while... but, in the end, I went for a Temple (think of the archaeological value!) and a Noman. I had to think for some time what to call this lacreous doppelgänger... I considered different philosophers who had grappled with the question of mortality; psychopomps and other mythic figures... but in the end, it struck me, well, we don't know much about the Neath, about its animating properties, about what will happen to us, but it's certainly an underworld - at least in the literal sense - and, for however long he's here, I shall be his guide. So, for now at least, I have called him Dante.

The Noman is an entity born from the tears of a lonely god. It is a glimpse of mortality trapped in ice. The Noman is a useful companion to you, for a while. +7 to main stats. But what I find so wonderful about the Noman is the poignancy of the writing for it. You will have opportunities to spend some time with it, to impart to it some of yourself, and try to make its brief time in the world worthwhile. With sufficient lacre, you can put off the inevitable thaw for a time.
I think it is worth the cost of creation. Perhaps you would think differently. I cannot say.

That would make things a lot easier to read, at least, and wouldn't keep pushing the card on the end down to the next row when you draw a 5th.

The Model and Artist, along with the infernal Graffiti card. Probably more, but those are what I've encountered so far. Also the reward/penalty in the first option on the Infernal Graffiti card now is based on your Nightmares level.
EDIT: Just drew it, again, actually! Now entitled "City VIces: Orthographic Infection." In case there's confusion, it's the one with the Counting the Days option of having someone else read it for you with the line "There are old neophilologists, and bold neophilologists..." edited by Mordaine Barimen on 1/7/2014

Of course, now that I have the Spire Emporium I don't really know what I'll need those for but it's nice to have a collection of expensive stuff I don't quite know what to do with.
Back to grinding scraps for a Location of a Prince of Hell next I think as it looks like I'll have to get the Sanctum the hard way now. I've got just over 10% of the scraps I need. Me personally? I'd huff the tears, sell your soul, and sit snug in that sanctum. The wine can be gotten, with time. This quote is what I love about this game. It's all so hilariously horrid. As much fun as it is to skate the very edge of what the game would allow, I would advise against huffing before examining a pail with the monocle. Because apparently the result that makes the tears vanish gives +2 Taste of Lacre, and that'd put you at 6, and the monocle is then useless.

If your lacre quality is 6 or higher then the monocle won't work, but it can raise it up to 8 if you're currently at 5.

It's open now. Down there you'll be able to spend your lacre quality to upgrade to five-card lodgings, gain new lodgings such as Temple, Cellars, and Snail house, fulfill your promise to the Duchess, Widow, and Dockers, and one option involving the Noman. You'll be able to return as long as your lacre quality is three.

Yeah, I'm not even sure where to start looking for re-de-ensoulment... and, there is a 3 Notability cost for the 5-carders, so much more reasonable than the regular costs.

I just drew the Amanuensis card, so I'm thinking of going through Penstock's Wicket with my Notability 3 (almost 4), spend it all on fancy new lodgings and then use the card to get back to Notability 1. But that plan would backfire something fierce if I lose my cards during any of the steps I need to take to do this. So, is there any step that would remove my Amanuensis card along the way? Don't think so - I certainly upgraded to a Spire-Emporium without losing the cards in my hand. I remember because I also was holding on to certain cards deliberately (though I only sort-of cared about losing them).
If you are nearly ready to go to Notability 4, though, won't you waste a load of MW by doing it this way? Maybe it doesn't matter in the long term. I have a maths degree, but this kind of thing still makes my head hurt.
