Blame Newton for that - he had a thing about sevens, when sixes are a much more useful number for dividing up things like professions. Six is divisible by two and three! What's seven divisible by? Nothing! It's rubbish. ...sorry, got a bit distracted there. Anyhow, no doubt there are all manner of variations on the Neathy colours in between the ones named. My working hypothesis is that the spectrum we've seen so far looks a little like this:
Violant - Irrigo - Apocyanic - Pelegin - Viric - Cosmogone - Gant
-- Sir Frederick, the Libertarian Esotericist. Lord Hubris, the Bloody Baron. Juniper Brown, the Ill-Fated Orphan. Esther Ellis-Hall, the Fashionable Fabian.

Connected with Paramount Presence, maybe? From my understanding no one has gotten that one yet despite having 200 in all their stats and building up their Master Thief, Fearsome Duelist and other notable achievements.

I would think that the 200 Stats special POSI statuses will play a role in those "more rarefied roles" that are still unavailable and that will probably form the fifth profession tier, more than opening other tier 4 professions...
Perhaps there are two sets of 6 neath colors?

Six is a hateful number. If one doesn't plan to devote oneself to it entirely, it is best to avoid it.

I always assumed the linking of the neath spectrum to the tier 4 professions was just a fun way to get that lore to players while also showing how abnormal what you're doing has become, so I doubt the fact that a color had to be left out is SUPER significant.
Viric is an interesting mystery, now, though, since it lacks any thematic connection to anywhere or any group yet.

Where does Incarnadine ("the colour of a fresh wound") fit in there? Unfortunately that is a Surface colour that is synonymous to crimson.

I have that reaction to a lot of stuff I see in Fallen London. Promptly followed by either "that's so cool!" or "that's...somewhat disturbing." Or both. :P

viric is a light that is linked with sleep

viric is the seventh color
viric is the color of Mr. Eaten

Interesting! But might it be a sleepy colour because it is associated with the jungles of Parabola? Cosmogone is also a Parabolan colour... Mightn't Mr Eaten be more associated with the colour Gant (which appears when others are devoured)?
Oh! But your idea makes me think:
Parabola contains that which is unreal... and Mr. Eaten a) calls seekers through dreams, and b) is eaten (and therefore unreal?). Is there a connection between Mr. Eaten and Parabola? Might he have a deal with the things behind the mirrors, or is he a poacher?
On the connection between Eaten and Parabola
The Northbound Parliamentarian mentions that the Name was taken and hidden behind a black mirror. The Fingerkings are associated with mirrors of black glass. A treasure from the Expeditions mentions that Parabola's inhabitants are the antithesis of the Judgments and that dreams thrive in the Neath where the Judgments cannot see. One of the Hallowmas Destinies mentions the honey-roads between dreams and Parabola, and Wines' and Spices' quarrel over them after "their colleague was cast down". Dreams were Candles' domain. The storylet where the Fidgeting Writer dreams about the God-Eaters gives Touched by Fingerwork. It's implied elsewhere that they made a deal of sorts with the Fingerkings to become what they are. Probably irrelevant: The Mirror-Marches, a Nightmare menace area, is an outlying area of Parabola. Mr Eaten has 999 Watchful.
edited by Valerien on 3/1/2014

The new storylet about the Somnolent Hyena might shed some light about viric (or is it virric?). It seems to be associated with another place and the creature that carries it is associated with sleeping and nightmares. IHNIWTR, I think whoever was speaking in your dreams might be on to something.
