Changes to suspicion/imprisonment?

I just had my suspicion go to 8, but instead of taking me straight to prison I was taken to a courtroom, with 2 options. One gave me a what the game called a lenient sentence and dropped my suspicion to 6 (from 8), then took me to what I think is the old prison area, but required no criminal record (which I gained once I clicked on it), and the other required a criminal record but appears to either give a more lenient sentence , or save you from prison entirely but requires Connected: Masters 5.
So this is a thread to discuss this apparent change.

The only other change I saw was on the storylet contact your lawyer, a new option (I think, as it is not listed on the wiki) that requires PoSI and is an either way luck challenge called write to the ambitious barrister that dropped me from 6 to 5 suspicion on success (so probably around 5 cps)

I put my alt in and New Newgate has changed as well. The cards are now non-discardable and there was a new option on the Graffito on the cell wall - a persuasive challenge that gave connected criminal, bohemian and some making waves as well as dropping suspicion. Didn't see any other new options but that character wasn't in for long.
