Time, the healer, gave me five Free Evenings this time, while the SNOWBOUND! storylet offers me a chance to pay Urchins to remove the snow for me, giving me one Free Evening, unless I already have five. So that's one Free Evening that is tricky to actually get now. And of course, my Making Waves was also halved to level 4, so there'd be precious little for me to give to any PoSI acquaintance until I've sent and received Christmas Cards and such during the week.
And Speaking of Christmas cards, I was keeping a small buffer for unforeseen exchanges, but those two cards were wasted, as the new Christmas Cards didn't add seven as before, but simply set the number to seven. (Unless I had already sent them all, but I don't think I did.) So if there's anyone out there with cards to send, send them before Time, the generous giver, gives you your new cards.
Oh well. I guess I actually won't have enough Making Waves for five dinners at Dante's anyway. I think the highest Making Waves I've ever gotten was level 12, and that's just enough for two dinners. Well, more like one and a half. I lost 55 CP on one dinner, so now I wonder how much a PoSI would get from me if I had only 10-21 CP. All of it? And is there any way for PoSI to determine if it's worth spending five Actions and ten Echoes on sending an invitation? Are not-so-rising stars filtered out by any chance, or would it be prudent to contact a prospective dinner guest ahead of time, to see what 'flattery' they actually have to offer?
It doesn't seem unreasonable that Making Waves would be a quality that is known to others, since that is pretty much what the quality is all about. I suppose that I could put my Making Waves in my scrapbook. But I imagine that it would be handy to see those waves in the social actions list that comes up?
Though even that wouldn't prevent a non-PoSI from getting invited to two dinners while they're offline, and then they'd have to choose who gets the main course and who gets the leftovers. Yeah... I'm thinking that dinner plans might be best handled by some kind of actual planning before an invitation is sent. Unless PoSI feel that five Actions and ten Echoes is mere pocket change?
Now I'm imagining how I build up Making Waves to level 10 (55 CPs) and five PoSI acquaintances notice that, and while I'm away for 24 hours or so, they all send dinner invitations. And while I certainly could accept all those invitations, perhaps it would be better to decline four of them, so they would at least get to keep those Free Evenings and invite someone else? Terribly experimental!
