New to the forum? Bid a pleasant 'good evening' to your fellow players here, and say a little about yourself.

I'll start, shall I?

Good evening, delicious friends! I'm Chris, writer and community liaison at Failbetter Games. I like cake, games, cake, Spiderman, and cake.

Good afternoon everyone,

Having fallen in love with Welcome to Nightvale, the free podcast of a small, friendly desert town radio station (do not look at the Hooded Figures or approach the dog park. DO NOT APPROACH THE DOG PARK), I was encouraged to look at Fallen London and I'm so very glad I have. I have been playing for three days now and I don't believe I have ever enjoyed a text based game a tenth as much. I have no idea what's going on, I am stumbling around blindly and I am having so much fun! Between the eldritch abominations reminiscent of H.P. Lovecraft works and writing that reminds me of my favourite Consulting Detective, this place is wonderful.

Generally I stay out of game forums and can be somewhat terrible at social interactions however after receiving a Maverick Bloodhound and being unsure if it was going to try to kill me or not I posted on the Young Turks thread and immediately got a flood of information, advice and reassurance. Lovely people have already sent me gifts and I helped someone with their nightmares. Unlike in so many games, the social angle does not feel forced to me.

I am very pleased to be here and to have the opportunity to introduce myself to you all,

Sincerely,
Lethe

While out for an evening stroll along the waterfront, you spy Slowcake's Amanuensis shuffling hurriedly down the Docks, his eyes darting around nervously. Suddenly, the oily little man stiffens like a rabbit catching the sound of a distant hound. Then you hear it too: the rhythmic thumping of heavy boots on cobblestones. You turn and see commotion in a nearby crowd: a crash, followed by curses from sailors as a lamppost keels over in the distance.

Slowcake's Amanuensis fidgets with his notebook as he looks for an escape, but the only nearby door leads into a raucous dockside tavern.

The Amanuensis looks like a fly trapped in a web. He stares hopelessly at the tavern door, then back at the broken lamppost. He takes a deep, sorrowful breath, holds his nose, and dives into the bar.

Meanwhile the crowd of cursing sailors parts as a teetering sedan chair careens towards you! Two clay men carrying the chair just manage to avoid you, but not before tipping the sedan chair into a fishmonger’s pile of bait fish.

In a fluid motion that’s distressingly well-practiced, a young, leggy person-of-indistinct-gender hops out of the overturned sedan chair while tossing a heavy coin purse to the exasperated merchant. The fishmonger's eyes nearly bulge out of his head when he opens the purse, and he begins to hurriedly wrap up the choicest bits of his remaining stock for his enigmatic benefactor.

The handsome Londoner adjusts a disgruntled top hat and smooths out their alarmingly-shaded dress before extracting a brilliantly bejeweled cane from a nearby fish pile. You shield your eyes from both the cane and the eye-watering dress as the person of dubious importance strides up to you.

“Pardon me my good fellow, but did you happen to see a short, fidgety man run by just now?”

Their broad smile dips a bit when you don't respond, Oh, pardon me! Where are my manners?”

Their crimson eyes gleam as they pump your hand vigorously with their meticulously-laced leather gloves, “The Six Handed Merchant, at your service! My mates call me ‘Six’. What are my wares, you ask? Why information of course!

The Six Handed Merchant launches into a well-rehearsed spiel, complete with sweeping hand gestures: From the rumors of the streets to the mysteries of science! From the wonders of the zee to the secrets of the Correspondence: I traverse the web of London’s secrets! If its truth you seek, I am your investigator! I am also free for private investigations, police consultations, lectures, book signings, Correspondence classes, opera commissions, honey dreams and parties of all shapes and sizes. No name-seekers, please.

Six ends with a sweeping bow, but eyes you quizzically when you don’t react. “You…haven’t heard of me? Well, that’s fortunate for us both, because I’m afraid that I am too busy for autographs. I am in the middle of an important case: The Case of Slowcake and my Missing Third Star!”

“Come George! Come Garfield!” Six calls out to the two clay men extricating the sedan chair from the fish stand, “We must press on before the trail gets cold!”

Good evening everyone! smile Feel free to send me whatever roleplaying, forum or in-game or (non-hostile) social interactions you like! And Six will see you in Fallen London!

Greetings from Jane, an upstanding young lady and certainly not a cult-leading revolutionary mad artist.
(Other rumours, such as of being married to a weasel or hiding a gallery of half-real things, are equally ridiculous.)

The only notorious fact which she can't deny is that her dream to become a captain has come true thanks to something called Marvellous. However, not a zee-captain as she aspired, because destiny has a wicked sense of humour – and London has a sky to conquer.

The responsibility for all her (mis)deeds lies with Nadezhda – a coffee-powered Russian student of philology and culturology – who has been lured here by immoderate love for Borgesian motifs, well-written stories and dark indie games.

I have been here for a few days, but I should introduce myself.
To start with, I'll get this out of the way. I'm male, despite having a female character.

I'm th8827. Why is my name so impersonal? Because all of the cool names that I wanted were already taken, so I went with my fallback name for when I want to be relatively anonymous on the internet.

My naming scheme in Sunless Sea for my Captains usually consisted of Birds, but all of my favories were taken...

I enjoy Type-A (story heavy) Anime, video games, and books. If you want recommendations, feel free to ask.

Anyways, I have minimal experience with social interactions in this game, but I would be happy to help with anything mutually beneficial... except Loitering, because I like my connection to Society. And nothing that would hurt my connection with Hell, because I plan to eventually live in their Embassy.
I love analyzing Lore, so if I notice something interesting, people will probably hear about it.
I'm not an RPer, but I tend to play along if someone RPs at me (Please keep it family friendly). If RPing makes them happy, then its fine with me.

Good evening ladies, gentlemen and others. My name is Steele, Bertrand to my friends - and we are all friends here are we not? I have only recently arrived in Fallen London, and am beginning to find my way around the streets. I am widely known as a wanderer, a romantic, a raconteur and wit. Others call me rogue, scoundrel, villain or rake. Such fools and their petty concerns are beneath my notice.

Occasionally, I suffer from terrible dreams in which my name is Steve and I work in a hospital.

Hi everyone! I'm going to reintroduce myself because It's been forever and I'm basically starting the game anew! My character is amalgamate at http://fallenlondon.storynexus.com/Profile/amalgamate .

Back in - oh man, must have been 2013? 2014? - I used to play a lot of EBZ. My account had an Overgoat which was a big deal at the time, I organized players back on the other inquisitive friends forum and ran starveling-cat-trading and plant-fighting rings, did all sorts of things. But then there were no updates for a long time and I stopped playing. Lately I got word that Seeking was actually a finished story now, so I revived my seeking alt to play that. I thought about starting playing again on my main account, but it would just feel so out of place - I would jump in in the middle of stories I barely remember, my character loaded with items which I don't remember getting and feeling the consequences of choices I don't remember making. So I figured I'd start a new character, experience Fallen London from the beginning.

My seeker alt is going to keep grinding away at the search for the name, but I'm planning on role-playing and not min-maxing now that I'm amalgamate. I'm planning on becoming a vicious criminal and joining the revolutionaries!

Looking for any kind of cooperation with other players! Invitations of any sort welcome!

    Hello!

I'm Jimmy, I've been playing Fallen London now for... ooh, maybe a little under a year? I'm a cosplayer & writer & general fan of all sort of bits and pieces. Pretty standard. Oh, and I spend a lot of my time doing lots of work at University for what feels like very little reward, both in-game and out of it...

But yeah, I'd love to get a bit more involved in the community, so do feel free to send social actions/say hi etc etc etc.!! <3

Hi, guys! I'm back! Not entirely back, because the reasons why I stopped posting still exist (basically, needing all free time I could muster to work on my personal projects, particularly my ten-year-old comic strip), but when I got the e-mail from Failbetter about the new election, I suddenly missed this game and this forum so much that I had to come back for a little. I'll probably not engage in in-game roleplay, but I'll probably post a bit in the forums for fun. I have a half-written thing from last year that I might finish and post soon. wink I apologize in advance for all invitations I couldn't accept when I was away from the game. I can't promise I'll never skip an invitation ever again, but I'll certainly be entering FL during election, so there's that. :3

You can hit me on any of my profiles below. I'll take protegés, if they need a Watchful teacher. ^^

Well met, fellow Fallen Londoners. As it turns out I have not formally introduced myself yet, though I have been trying to get into contact with a few other players through social actions.

My name is one which feels perhaps inadequate compared to some others. Regardless, I spend most of my time in London practicing the violent arts. Currently, most of my time is taken up finding how to make progress in the Labyrinth of Tigers. I've also got myself a moon league token for the game of knife and candle and am debating how I wanted to go about participating in a duel.

One might wonder, why would I have decided to leave the shadows, and join the forums with the other Londoners. The truth is, I've always planned to get into contact with others, I just never felt like the opportunity presented itself properly. With me coming a person of some importance, and the desire for making waves present now seemed like the best time possible to meet more acquaintances.

    Greetings,delicious friends!
I've been playing Fallen London for two and a half years now, but only became active in the community about a year ago. The character I write is Dr. Mel Lawrence, The Gentleman Scientist- an excitable and slightly insane scholar obsessed with a self-destructive quest to defy the very laws of nature. Feel free to send her a calling card if you want to meet her and hear her reminisce about the Surface. Perhaps she'll even show you her research, though it isn't exactly for the faint of heart.
I also make art, mostly of people's characters, and design my own games every once in a while.

    Good darkened day, everyone,

I created an account because I wanted interact more with the fanbase of the game. It’s been five months since I started playing and this game scratch a particular itch of mine with its mix of gothic influence, mystery, black humor, oneiric reality, metaphysical conjecture and, most importantly, sadness and tragedy.

    Salutations, everyone!
Er, well, good evening I guess? I'm not too fond of fancy introductions, but I can talk a lot.

The name's Alavar Randomity. Why no, that's not my real name. In fact, it's an alias! The last name should have given it away.
And yes, I certainly am named after the Asian fish sauce, alavar. Long story. Don't ask.

There's a lot to say about myself; I swore I wasn't going to be lengthy in my introduction. That's how I give off too much info.
    I'm a jack-of-all-trades, and a master-of-none. But you know what they say, we're better than a master-of-one!
I'm also a walking contradiction, so there will be times where I believe one thing and say another. And then vice versa.
It's a matter of whatever's going on with the situation, I guess? Honestly, I wish I knew how to explain that one. It's a long story, and it started out with my mentor teaching me how to be a more logical person, considering I tend to get really emotional.

The end product turned out to be a very rational person. That's me!
Anyways, I think I rambled off a bit too much. I'm always open to meeting new faces, but I tend to get picky as well. Let's say it's a gut feeling of mine.

Gah, rambling again. I'll let you all have at it, then.
Hope to see you all around!

Good Evening, Ladies, Gentleman and individuals of mysterious and indistinct gender, it is nice to shake your hands or ends of tentacle-like extremities. I think it's finally time to introduce myself. My name is Tadgh De Danann, and to those of you knowing about the stories of old times, this should also be your anwser to what i am or at last want you to believe what iam descending from. Driven away from the surface i came down to find Oblivion and Rest in the womb of the Earth, but instead found an intriguing world of full of otherness and enigmas. Interest and Curiosity have become an obsession and and i am struggling with myself out of the fear that indulging myself deeper in the secrets of the Neath will drive me even further away from the last bit of humanity with each day, if this term is even fully suitable to one of my kind. But it's not possible to supress the urge and the hunger to know more, to understand, to realize, to discover the truth behind all secrets and lies, even if this way leads up to doom. Those who don't shy away from the risk may feel free to get aquainted with me. I am sure your aquaintances will be a delicious journey. Again a good evening to everyone of you, and be sure to stay safe on your way home at this pitch-black night. If you would excuse me know, i think i get a little hungry...

Aside of that my real name is Tim and i am an ongoing archaeologist who just fell in love with Fallen London and the games rich and well written stories quite some time ago. Due to my time-consuming studies and my work i am not the most active forum writer, but from what i have seen this seems to be a great community, so i will try to come by from time to time.

Good evening! I am a newly minted Person of Some Importance. Been in here only since around late November, but I quickly got addicted. I have been doing very unusual things like writing and staging a play (which I do above the surface) and collecting legal documents (which I also do above the surface...wait. Why am I playing this game?)

No, but seriously, this world is addictive, the community has been awesome, and I love it. I'm going to throw a shout-out to it in my current above-surface Tale of the Future...I mean, sci-fi novel.

    Hello there, delectable acquaintances.

On the internet, I usually simply go by Mein. Well, and a neigh endless list of alternate names that people assign to me. Their motivations remain unclear. If you want to call me by my actual human name, I also go by Jakob.

I've been an enthusiastic fan of Sunless Sea for a long time now, and having signed up for Fallen London a few months back, and none of my close friends knowing or playing the game, I decided I finally needed to go to a place to discuss this wonderful world with like-minded folk. So here I am. I do so hope we'll get along fine.

As for my interests, there is little to say, as I am quite boring. I like writing, though only if it has at least a dash of comedy in it, I enjoy video games, particularly narrative-driven ones, I love delving into the hidden lore of well-crafted universes, and I tend to champion for underappreciated species of animals. Did you know that hornets kill wasps, don't go after your sugary food, and almost never get up in your face unless provoked? Hornets are dope.

Well, in any case, that's all there really is to know. I do hope we'll see more of each other soon.

Greetings all. Returning to Fallen London after a lengthy absence -- the last Echo to my main's FL journal was back in 2013(!). Long enough that the game has changed quite a bit, and I've forgotten so much that it's like starting over. So I have started over with an alt to experience all the new/revised content. And with much fear and trembling, put my old main onto the Seeking Road.

I've always played the game in "single-player", so I'm now experimenting with the social side. See you around!

So, things are little odd here, cause we got one of us whose been throughout the city for years, and is near the top of his game at everything (except sneaking, old dolt's too heavy). Next we have two newcomers, just got here today, and are enjoying the Neathly delights/beginning a long screaming fall into oblivion. Either way, they're all hopping about, and I'm here to speak for them. Pleasure to you all.

Good evening, I don't think I have posted here. Hi, I am Spooky, your friendly Goth Gamer. Been playing about 3 years now and going strong. I like coming up with complicated characters and seeing how they react to a variety of issues. I am not particularly interested in PvP, but we can discuss character clashes or disagreements. I like Table Top Gaming, Numbers Stations, Goth Dancing, and wlw culture.

I am playing Countess Caroline Karnstein, The Moral Hedonist, a mysterious Austrian woman who have layers and layers of secrets to be uncovered. Some secrets involve a few liberties with the setting but attempts have been made to keep her as close to default setting as possible, and such is not even her deepest and darkest secret. SAs are welcome, and it is always fun to get more people involved in her schemes.

She might be known to other characters for her Salon, The Labrys, which often has all female meetings and supports Nocturnals or Mycologenes and almost any school of female artists and writers. Of course all sorts of scandalous rumors are attached to it, and it is somewhat inspired by Natalie Clifford Barney's historical Parisian Salon (itself inspired by Sappho's school, as is Caroline's). Alternately, a character may take an interest in the fact she is well connected to nearly any faction and the intrigues of the city a simple bohemian shouldn't.

    Regardless, have fun out there.

Good evening, comrades. I'm Agent S7--though I'm not really the agent of anyone in particular, and I'm more fond of playing this great game than that other Great Game. I've been playing Fallen London for a couple years now, on and off, and I figured it was about time I jumped into the forums. Haven't been part of a fandom in a quite a while, to be honest--the things tend to be a lot less solid these days, now that everybody's moving to Facebarking or Tweeters or Tumblogs. Thing is, I'm a massive fan of literature, wit, history, and the like, so it was only a matter of time before I finally caved and joined a community of folks with similar interests.

As for the other Agent S7, he's not the most upstanding citizen in the Neath. Plays with reforming the police, sure, but he also stages regularly heists on the Brass Embassy and the Masters. The man has the gumption to associate with Revolutionaries, with the vain hope that saner leaders will prevail over more unique elements of the movement. And that's not even touching the way he uses and disposes of all connections, all people, all things in pursuit of single-minded vengeance on the ones who took away his love.

As for who he is an Agent of, I can only speculate. Did he once work for a power on the Surface? Or did he read far too many spy novels?

At any rate, Agent S7 and I--whichever one of us wrote this post--are going to hang out here for a bit. Meet some cool folks. Perhaps solve a few Enigmas. And probably drop this over-the-top meta tone in favor of something quite a bit goofier. It's just...so hard to resist, you guys. It's much too fun being dramatic. :P

    Bonjour!

  • I've stayed in the Neath a few times now, on and off over the past few years - and golly, it's awfully good, isn't it? It is with mild embarrassment that I admit that the thought of a forum had not even crossed my mind, and the stats of others have certainly made me reevaluate my (perhaps, I am beginning to realise, excessively) casual gaming style, but I'm glad I finally stumbled on this pseudo-Victorian hub. I hadn't realised there was such a positive and supportive community linked to the whole Failbetter thingummybob. More fool me, I suppose. Cheers!

Thank you for this new life that awaits us, this chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunities and adventures! Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule all over this land, and we will call it . . .

What the hell's going on? Were there monkeys? Some terrifying Malevolent Monkeys maybe got loose?

Thank you for the Ridiculous Hat. A woman walks down the street in that hat, people know she's not afraid of anything.

And thank you for the Sorrow-Spiders. If only you could see what I've seen with your eyes!

Salutations, my darlings. There's a tale that's told to frighten wayward high-society debutantes into good marriages - that of the promising young woman whose heart (and future) was stolen away by a charming thief. What they don't mention is that after a while she’d learnt more than enough to steal it back, actually turned something of a profit and used the fortune to pay her way back into civilised society.

I do well at keeping myself occupied chasing the secrets of the Neath, but I am at heart a social creature and all the extended silence of being inclined to lurk softly in shadows to satisfy a curiosity can get rather dull. I'm fond of wine, good food and charming conversation - do send a calling card round (one must still observe social niceties after all) and I'll be happy to supply at least two of the three.

Greetings, fellow Londoners ! A good evening to you all !

I believe some kind of... introduction is in order? I wouldn't want anyone to think that what I'm doing is breaking and entering -- I've heard New Newgate has an awful chill at this time of the year. And I'd be glad to get to know you fine folk.

[I'm Marasquine -- please call me Mara. In the the other world, the one where I'm sure London is still firmly set on the Surface, I'm a French student, currently researching a field that a whole three people have heard of. I have a tendency to wild, starry-eyed enthusiasm and a deeply-seated love for music of all sorts. I enjoy good stories quite a bit.]

Lately I go as Mara D. Mare, owner of a superfluous initial and a pet lizard. Since I've escaped from prison, I'm doing my best to reclaim some kind of reputation... Who knew becoming an inquirer was the best way to go? I've been known to be as dangerous as a startled mouse, but fairly keen-eyed, and able to surprising amounts of persuasion when circumstances require it ; perhaps it was just the kind of job I needed. My net is slowly expanding upon this crawly city -- and when I'm done, if anyone is watching you, chances are I'll be watching them.
Bits and pieces start falling into place. Mysteries clear up, leading way to even bigger mysteries. It's a pretty novel experience ; seen that way, the world is clear, and right, and reassuring. Ready to be seized. Now if only those dreams would leave me alone...

When I'm not on a case, I like to relax as the Singing Mandrake. When it doesn't involve murder victims or missing devils, I'm actually quite an enjoyable company. Join me there, would you? I always got some good absinthe lying around. And plenty of tales -- some better than others.
Speaking of which, did you know the one about the Vicar who ---...

[That's about all, I guess. I've been in the game since... yesterday, and I'm already enthralled by what I can see. I've been browsing the forums some time ago, and I just wanted to tell you how flabbergasted I've been made by some of you people's dedication and proficiency. This is fantastic. Creating and expanding so much and so well upon the game's lore is something that takes all kinds of gifts.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all ! Please forgive my faulty English and inexperience ; and here's to many future adventures!
    Cheers!]

Goodness. I ended up creating an entirely new thread to introduce myself when it turns out that there is a perfectly good thread for it right here. I do apologize for the . . . clutter.

Greetings, Fellow Fallen, and good evening to you. I call myself "FerroMancer", and as we've just met, I'll restrain myself from boring you with its origins today. I've been in Fallen London for roughly two years now. I'm at 200 in Watchful and Shadowy (I specialized as an "Extraordinary Mind" - call it Ego, if you will), and have 191 in both Dangerous and Persuasive. I'm tipping 200 in my Connections with three or four groups right now. I'm working on my second Overgoat, and I'm working on a 5-card suite. For my employ, I am a Correspondent.

Good evening, fellow citizens of a fallen city. They call me the Vixen. I'm a bit of a puzzle at times (even to myself), but I enjoy riddles and games of wit. I look forward to digging deeper into the intriguing depths of this city. So much to see. So little time.

Oh, and those rumors you've heard involving me, a poisoned bottle of wine, and a decapitation? Pure fantasy. I assure you.

A pleasant evening to you all! I suppose I should introduce myself as Miss MJ de Castañeda, a brand new soul. I enjoy the company of people who can hold my interest, which mostly includes anyone who can tell a fantastic story. Good evening all, and as it is always evening down here, may it always be a good evening for all. I'm "cliftonr" in Fallen London, at least for the moment. I might have been something more clever if I had realized that would be my displayed character name, but as it is, so it shall remain until I come up with something clever enough to be worth the cost of changing it.

I've been in Fallen London for not quite a month - I was persuaded to visit by reading some Sunless Sea fanfic by an acquaintance. I became solidly hooked within a day and signed up as an "Exceptional Friend" within a week, as my way of expressing appreciation for such excellent storytelling. (And of getting MOAR ACTIONS.)

Best of evenings, fellow denizens of the depths!

I am John Moose, a humble collector of beasts and slayer of zee-monsters. My hobbies are scouring the zee on my trusted zubmarine in search of new additions to my personal zoo, as well as chasing mysteries no sane mind should contemplate. Hi! I'm Strix van Allen and I was a Chemistry professor on Surface, before That Thing. My academic career is on hold until I can convince those FOOLS to fund my Department of Correspondence. They think I'm mad. I EAT MADNESS ON BREAKFAST. Ahem. Sorry. High nightmares. I came to Fallen London to understand the matters of life and death down here and I'm making a living freelancing as a detective. I once went to the Flit to understand the criminal mind better and ended as a Master Thief by accident. I'm still not sure how that happened. All in all, I hunt monsters on demand and my instance on romance is "no, thanks".

Hello, everybody! I first started delving into the Neath about a year ago, then promptly forgot to bookmark the site. I happened to discover it once again, and decided to make a new character, Ronald, who is a Deacon by name, but pretty much a complete opposite of what a Deacon should be in truth. Pretty much the only solid thing about him is that he keeps his word. In any case, I'd be happy to get to know other people here! As for interests, well, I like interesting stories, good food, and steampunk.

    Hello, delicious friends!

My name is Matthew, I've been in Fallen London since the first half of january and loved / am loving every second. I'm thrilled to join this wonderful community and explore the mysteries and intrigues of the Neath even more!

In real life my interests are reading, playing all sorts of video games and studying endlessly (probably why I'm graduating in physics).
In Fallen London, I seek to become a prominent figure in high society (+academia), build a network of criminals and spies and eventually overthrow the Masters to establish a new, more liberal, order in London (with myself at its head, of course).

Hello! My name is Manfred, and though I started playing FL a year or so ago, I hadn't gotten around to making an account on the forums until now. My character is much like myself in that they are a grouchy, ambiguously-gendered stickler for rules (and also named Manfred), although simultaneously unlike myself in that they are quite well into their twilight years and are a staunch supporter of their government. Well, 'government' in as much as you could call a loosely-bound group of economy-running hooded figures who dress up as Santa Claus and demand gifts from the general populace every year.

Speaking of the Masters, both I and my character have a hopeless subordinate-crush on Mr Pages. It's terrible and I am in pain. Everything it says only endears me to it further. Even the ridiculous things.

...Granted, every darn word that comes out of its mouth(?) is ridiculous, so there you have it.

Greetings, all. I've been playing Fallen London for about 2-3 months now and am dipping my toes in the forums. My character, Lady Sandicomm, has left behind the love of her life on the Surface to pursue artistic success and, perhaps, to uncover some of the deepest secrets of Fallen London! I am more than happy to accept new friends or patrons in the arts of Shadowy and Watchful. I am not currently allied with any particular social group, though I am worming my way into high society and mostly avoiding the revolutionaries. (For example: I don't know what the Calendar Council, which is figuring prominently in the election, is).

Does anyone know if Seamstress is an available occupation? It would be fun if my Unterzee job reflected my RL, Surface job!

    Libens sum,
Having transitioned from something of an éminence grise to a rather more public figure some months ago, it seems prudent to offer a formal introduction. This Decretist and Deacon of Lebbaeus is entirely at the service of the public, with certain exceptions; cultores sui Deus protegit, hmm, as well can be said of the Masters and Our Empress. A digression, pardon me. It is a pleasure to appear now before you.

    Good non-specific-time-of-day to you,

I am the Fungal One. I was introduced to the Neath through Sunless Sea, and the next logical step was to immerse myself in the game that started it all. I've only been playing for a few months but I already decided to become an Exceptional Friend and have splashed a fair bit of fate around.

My main interest within the series is the lore, of course. Deep, obscure yet beautifully coherent lore is one of my favourite things in games, and so far I must say that Fallen London and Sunless Sea together have one of the best (perhaps the best) worlds I've ever had the pleasure to visit.

My aim is quite simply to understand everything. I crave knowledge above all else: of the Neath and its gods, of the High Wilderness and the Judgements, and of the very nature of the soul. My quest for knowledge only recently began, but I hope to become London's foremost scholar on all manner of esoteric subjects.

    Good evening All!
My name is Epistel34, named after a wonderful little song about arson and alcohol by the Swedish national bard Carl-Michael Bellman.
I found my way from the Surface some months ago after inheriting a wonderful steamship from my aunt. After sailing the Sunless Sea for awhile I started exploring Fallen London and all of it's delicous secrets.

I've mostly been keeping to myself, since most of my friends usually wind up looking like lumps of charcoal after a night on the town. But don't let that scare you.

Being an inquisitive sort I strive to uncover every secret that this wonderful place has to offer.
Right now I'm trying to find Nadir's cave, but I'm missing an Eyeless Skull. So if you have one lying around I would very much like to aquire it from you. Send me a calling card if you are intrested in trading one with me.

    Hello everyone.

I used to play and absolutely loved my time with Fallen London, but I eventually had too many instances of &quotI know I should remember this character or previous plot point but don't&quot and sadly quit. I have regretted that many times since but stayed strong. Sunless Skies was announced and I thought &quotI'll buy it when it comes out to support Failbetter, but I won't play it. I am done with the Neath.&quot Then the Kickstarter launched and was funded so fast. I wavered. Coffee appear in my Facebook feed. I wavered more. A comic I read posted some Fallen London comics. It was getting hard to resist. A House of Many Doors launched and my resistance crumbled (even though it isn't FL related of course). So, I'm back. I deactivated my old account unfortunately (biggest regret of my life right now), so I'm started fresh since as far as I know deactivated accounts aren't recoverable.

Feb. 11 update Coming back was harder than I thought it would be. There is so much I have to redo (not bad in itself, it's just something I'd rather do alongside new progress) and it feels so lonely. I didn't notice when I originally played, and might not notice if I was new to this, but the social actions available early on are the things everyone doesn't want to accept. The Feast is not something that is new player friendly, which again isn't a problem in itself- it is just one more thing I can not interact with all of you on. It all leaves me with a feeling of being left behind, so this is good bye again. May the Neath treat you well.

Heyo! I’ve been playing Fallen London on and off over the past couple of years and I finally decided to stop being a wuss and introduce myself on the forums. I’m always down to RP and interact with other players, so hit me up since I’m generally friendly and could always use more friends.

Good evening. Like many new players, it seems, I was introduced to Fallen London via Sunless Sea, which I bought because reviewers called it well-written. They weren’t wrong, but right now I’m enjoying Fallen London itself more than Sunless Sea. (It’s a great game, but I keep dying!) I’m a compulsive writer myself, but right now my current novel is on hold while I slowly carve out my dissertation. That’s the problem with real life – too much grinding. Fallen London is currently assuaging a certain amount of my frustration with that situation. Perhaps too much so.

Hieronymus Drake is an old-fashioned English gentleman in the mold of the “Great White Hunter” of the period. He’s prickly and rather pompous on the exterior, but kind and patient under that, but hard and ruthless on another, perhaps deeper level. He is quite fascinated with the mysteries of the Neath, and for some time he thought of himself primarily as a professor at the University, with bare-knuckle boxing, monster-hunting and dueling as mere hobbies. However, recent events have made him question that self-image. He thinks he’s a Henry Morton Stanley but he’s really more an Allan Quatermain. Also notably inspired by Sir Alistair Hammerlock.

Tanith Wyrmwood is a mercurial, swashbuckling thief. She loves daring heists and rooftop chases. However, she’s not as dauntless as Drake, and she’s a bit dismayed by the grim turn her Light-Fingered Ambition has taken. She’s a former urchin with a keen wit but little formal education (and her “voice” is more contemporary and less in-period than Drake’s). Her Bohemian contacts and acceptance at the Palace have made her wonder whether she could leave the Flit behind – and whether she wants to. While Drake is Watchful and Dangerous, Tanith is Shadowy and Persuasive.

    --
Hieronymus Drake: Gentleman scholar, big-game hunter, scar-faced aristocrat. Remarkably sane, all things considered.
Tanith Wyrmwood: Longshanks cat-burglar; Bohemian author; now, perhaps, something more. Bubbly, expressive, and affectionate. It’s not only still waters that run deep.
Telemachia Lee: Gentle lady by birth, brawling Docker by choice. Good company in the drunk tank.

Bloody hell this town is harder to navigate than the Bearing Sea. Glad I managed to stumble upon you. A drink, quickly! What do you mean what color? Anyway...

Alexander von Conrad is the name. Nobility is the occupation. Dialogue is the passion. Love is ephemeral. Money is... an issue.

It is my first visit to your viciously exciting city, and I must admit monologue gets rather monotonous. Do write a letter if you are eager to teach an old dog new tricks, or simply if you wish to converse. I spend most of my time at the Singing Mandrake, ask around, someone will give you my address.

Now if you'll excuse me, I feel an irresistible urge to explain my financial situation to that beautiful horned lady over there. Good day!

Dearest future friends and enemies (were you aware that you have all been implied to be delicious?),

I am a recent arrival in the Neath and, with the possible exception of all these rats running amok, find it to be much more inspiring, interesting and enthralling than any surface world I've even inhabited.

I am hoping to meet many of you fellow Neath dwellers, and I welcome any and all social interactions... unless they're boring. I don't do well with boring. Or sitting still. Or beets. Gross. I would especially enjoy any helpful hints or missives from those much more experienced than I, or even just as experienced as I (so long as the hints do not involve beets).

May you always have a clean shirt, a clean conscience, and a guinea pig in your pocket,

    Bonjour (ou bonsoir peut-être),

I hope this finds you well and rested. I am afraid I must make your acquaintance proper at a later date, as you were asleep when I visited. You looked quite peaceful when I checked, too, so I was not so rude as to rob you of your rest. After all, I did rob you of several of your valuables. I do hope it is nothing you will miss... much. You will notice I left that van Ceulen on your wall; I must regretfully inform you it is a forgery, albeit a convincing one. I must commend you for your good taste though. You can tell a lot about a person from how they furnish their dwelling, and I am certain you and I would get along splendidly, in better circumstances. I fear I must cut this visit short, but here is my card, and a little token of my regard.

Veuillez agréer, chère victime, l'expression de mes sentiments distingués.

    Armel Lopin,
    Gentleperson-burglar

I'm Erudelle! Or Clarence Chamoiselle Erudelle ingame ( as two or so years ago, I though this was a very cute, charming, ladylike name, haha... nostalgic)
I've had an account for years and years, maybe two, three, four? I mainly had sessions where I fell in love with the writing, and would wait for my actions to refresh, playing with adoration, but they wouldn't last more then four weeks, and I sort of abandoned it as my perks piled up. I have so many Confident Smiles! That I never use! But I will!

My highest stat is my Watchful (73 exc. gear), which is actually not that... high. Venturing in the Forgotten Quarter is very frustrating right now, actually, due to my rival, and I don't know anybody personally that plays this game! It's actually kinda depressing?
My Ambition is the watchful one, which is why my it's my highest trait, the rest are at about thirty to fifty.
I also feel like the Faded Morning Suit was made for me and my soul. It's just perfect, j'adore that description. It's my outfit of choice

But, yeah, I'm back! And with a subscription! Only for a month or two, because I don't have much money as a student, and I love the writing in this game! It's so beautiful!!
I am ESPECIALLY!!! intrigued about Mr Eaten! SO MYSTERIOUS AND TERRIFYINGLY DARK!!! So sad!!

Anyways, my ultimate ambitions are to: instigate the Liberation of Night because quite frankly I am a bitter, awful emo; get every treasure and rare artefact and article and object, just... all of them, from everyone. All of them, and become wealthier than the Bazaar itself; figure out *everything* about the story and get really angry about all the tragedies of the Neath and in general, the actual universe in which these stories take place; pursue the Enigma; suffer through a Torment Destiny; learn more about North and East and Salt and the Dawn Machine; live posh in The Royal Bethlehem; and Seek Mr Eaten's Name! And so on.

Especially, what the Sun means to Mr Eaten? I still can't figure it out? The Drowned Man?
And what the sun beneath the East is? Is it the regular surface sun?? What is the White, the Curve and the lost light? Lorn-Flukes? Correspondences? Why is the Cheery Gentleman so nice and happy?? What is the Bazaar? Who are the Masters? And why is this game so depressing??? Why is Salt so depressing? Why is the Forgotten Quarter so depressing? Most of all, Mr Eaten is so depressing?

I really want to know! And that is, why I am here! I hate mysteries, which is why I feel compelled to solve them!
By the way! I sent a christmas card to Mr Eaten, the Mog/wound-reducing one, and look at this! So cheery. The festive spirit lives in us all, truly.

sorry if I am excited!! I love writing!

Hi, guys!

Posting because participating in this community is quickly turning into an absolute delight! I'm mezzocarattere, currently in the 'Neath as Chivioletta. I played years ago, took a hiatus, and am very happy to be back and receiving all kinds of in-character messages from well-written strangers.

Chivioletta, currently of no importance, presents as a flighty Bohemian-cum-Society woman with practised manners, a quick tongue, and taste that runs a bit towards the outré. Under the surface, she's an unabashed Hedonist and sensation-seeker with ties to Hell, who Spirifies on the side and is admitted to the House of Chimes due to her "private talents." Her ultimate loyalties are to the Great Game and, of course, her Heart's Desire. She welcomes all social actions and is particularly delighted to be licentious and/or scandalous.

Good evening, all; you can call me Jack here, I suppose. Which is a little strange for me, but there you have it.

In the Neath, I play four characters (one for each ambition), the foremost of which is Jack Vaux-Harrowden (hence the name).

Away from the internet, I'm a relatively boring young man with a passion for debate, the English language, and all manner of nerdy thing. I have a deep and abiding love for stories, an addiction that Echo Bazaar has fed nicely, and which has (shameless plug) led me to post a story-telling contest in the Fabularities section, which I'll get around to actually finishing sometime when it's not half-three in the morning.

Fine ladies and gentlemen of the Neath,

It pains to me to confess to such degenerate beginnings, but just days past I found myself cornered in the ghastly going-ons of Newgate Prison. Framed, I tell you! Fortunately it was immediately realised that a person of my esteem belonged not within a thousand yards of such despicable depths as that gaol cell and my release was secured forthwith. Regrettably, my reputation was tarnished by such unfortunate circumstance and I now find myself languishing in an attic room. An attic! Of all places! I wonder if this lamentable experience has affected not only my reputation but alas, also my mind, as I find my dreams increasingly filled with shadowy visions of bloody revenge. Ah, but I babble on and share superfluous details. I hope my running-ons have not disturbed you. I'm perfectly sane, I assure you. Well, fairly certain... in the main.

When I'm not in front of the screen enjoying this fine land, I'm generally hiking the Antipodean trails, drinking, or teasing my cats about their appearance. In about a week's time or so, I find out if I'll be spending the next 3 years at University studying the Correspo... sorry, Health Science. Here's hoping.

    Ahoy there,

I be Cap'n...ahem...many apologies. Allow me to start again.

I am Captain Wiggles. 'Twas a chance run in with the good ship Sunless Sea that brought me to these darkened shores only but a few days ago, and I am, in real life, a zailor...sorry, sailor. But enough about real life.

A man of the sea I be...sorry...I am. Or rather, I was. Until a chance run in with a watery de'il set me adrift from the sun and stars, and sent me to this darkened abyss. Ye see, wi'out the stars I cannot navigate and what kind of a sailor is one who cannot navigate? A lost one, that's what. An' that's what I am, lost.
An' even if I could see the stars, what use would they serve? Even if I could navigate, how far could I go? Nowhere, that's how far. I appear to be missing a ship you see. I am a Captain without a vessel. I am Captain only by name.
Aye, it's my real name, or it might as well be. An' so is Wiggles, or it might as well be. Wiggles is the name I've answered to for the better part o' me life. An' when I say the better part, I mean the 'better' part. I didn't get this interesting scar for nothing. But maybe I'll tell you one of the tales of how I got this interesting scar later, over a drink perhaps. An' maybe I'll tell ye many and more tales. Only first, I got to find them. Or gather enough wits and guile to make the 'tales' believable.

So here I am, with a whole new...Zea, to explore, new adventures to be had, new tales to tell, new fights to be fought, new drinks to...well, drink. All I ask is a tall ship and a star, or some luminous fungi, to steer her by.

Hi there! I'm Nuti, soon a natural sciences graduate from Finland. I stumbled upon here led by a favorite Youtube show of mine, Extra Credits, which featured a couple of years ago an episode about non-combat games. As warmly as they recommended Fallen London (Echo Bazaar that time), I recommend that show to anyone who loves thinking games, their influences and their mechanics more than it's healthy (and even those who aren't that desperate)!

So, I like thinking about things, roleplaying, drawing, and writing, and I've taken interest in explorer-y games like these. I'm terrible in reflex-based games, so slower-pace games like these are my cup of tea.

Name is Violet and I'm technically not a newcomer on these bands but at the same time I'm, since "I" just arrived at the fifth city, its a metaphysical thing, really hard to explain.

Anyway, this is the first time I'm immersing into the Neath properly, not only I started to access this forum (Which I didn't even know that existed) but for the first time I'm buying the paid content (One of the best things of being a functional adult is to be able to use your credit card for these games)

Hello to all of you wonderful ladies, gentlemen, persons of uncertain gender, persons of undisclosed gender, persons of the rubbery persuasion, and eldritch beings from before the dawn of time. Er. Perhaps not that last bit.

I am William the Marshal. Marshal of what, you ask? Mind your own business, say I! I've been in Fallen London since last October (after certain, ahem, difficulties on the surface, entirely unrelated to myself, which nevertheless necessitated a relocation) but have not been fully a member of the community, so to speak, until now. I enjoy playing the cello and having a false sense of superiority. Oh, and apparently unaccountable long-windedness. Dear me. Please feel free to drop by my Lodgings for tea and a chat. (Disclaimer: Must provide your own tea. If I am not present, also must provide your own conversation.)

Aside all that - when not slaving away youth and life working or studying; I love to partake and indulge myself with deliciously nerdy and not so nerdy, pastimes (for example, I absolutely love drawing and engaging in all kinds of creative work).

So, I guess that's that, more or less. Will be seeing you guys and gals around.

Good evening to all. I'm new to Fallen London. Not really getting to concentrate that much on anything. Just randomly strolling the streets and looking at everything in wonderment, not even quite understanding who I am. But what I do know, is I'm a complete Hedonist. For I am one also in RL. I'm a wannabe writer, wannabe actor and a wannabe director. I'm pretty much a huge wannabe. But I don't let that bother me. What did I came to say? Aah, yes. I'm waiting to learn more about the world of FL and to meet new interesting people here.

    Good Evening...

My proper name, for now, is irrelevant. You may simply refer to me as the Devilish Engineer. I chose this name in part for my (usually positive) mischievous nature and for my chosen profession when I dwelt on the Surface. I arrived in Fallen London some weeks or months ago (I possess an illness that disrupts my sense of time) and have become very fond of the city. Although I have studied the correspondence, crept into the very vaults of the Bazaar, gained entry into the secret organizations and have been introduced to high society in the Shuttered Palace, there is one thing I have yet to achieve; to become a person of great importance. Though I am close, the title eludes me.

Throughout my adventures in Fallen London, I have been alone. Despite several messages and letters, I have been unable to entice my former friends on the surface to join me here in London. Having heard of the salon some time before, I decided finally to come here in attempt to find acquaintance and correspondence.

I have many interests, from music to film to science and engineering. I enjoy games of all sorts, virtual and non-virtual and I enjoy the company and communication of delicious sorts of people. Lately, I have had a passion for studying ancient history, photovoltaic concepts and theory, physics and computer engineering. Currently, when I visit the surface, I am working on designing and constructing my own solar panels and corresponding battery storage. At the University, I am close to completing a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, an Associates in Psychology and a minor in Business. Above all, my two greatest passions are learning and interacting with exceptional people.

I have come here in the hopes of meeting people, even if such acquaintances only collaborate with me in the Fifth City of the Bazaar. In terms of Fallen London, I am very soon to be a Person of Some Importance and have become modestly wealthy, thus I may make a useful contact despite the fact I cannot be a Patron to anyone. Of course, conversely, I would be willing to become the protege' of an exceptional individual. In terms of surface business, I am always happy to make a new delicious friend.

A delicious evening to you all...

I have spent many a year on the Unterzee. I have seen rats enslave cavies. I have watched the rituals of the Chapel of Lights, and those at the Kingeater's Castle. I have even been to the Surface, all the way to Vienna.

I survived as a lowly zailor by making sure I was the one rounding up "volunteers" to remain (or leave remains) at various ports, and by being quick with a blade when the tentacles came a-questin'. But finally, my batty old Captain decided to sail past the Horizon in search of... something... at that I decided it was time to leave the ships and settle down in Fallen London.

Things must be quieter on the hazy streets. Or so I thought.

Now I find myself writing poetry, expounding on the joys of honey, exploring lovely lasses... and back fighting on the Docks again.... it seems the Zee continues to whisper to me.

I feel sure that I had a name once, a long time ago. But my time at Zee earned me the title of John the Savage. I have dropped the "the" for the finer folks of London, and now go by John Savage.

Pleased to make your acquaintances. That rostygold appears a tad heavy. Shall I carry it for you?

    Good afternoon everyone,

Good evening, fine people of the forums. I prefer to be referred to as Dougl07 or Souglas, mostly because I dislike my actual name, and those are my favorite nickname so far (one being a spoonerism, the other being a random name I made up that I could recognize as being me). I joined Fallen London back in May, but I was playing Sunless Sea pretty much since when it first came out. I'm kinda quiet, well spoken, and not really good in social situations. I like tea, ice cream, small places devoid of other people and the sound of rain on tiles. I dislike coffee, foot cramps, hot places, and excessive alliteration. If you want to talk further, send me a calling card or letter. I might not reply for a while, as I have mountains of studying for exams, but I shall endeavour to respond in good time. Ciao, vale, auf Wiedersehen and good evening, delicious friends.

Good evening, fellow denizens of the Neath.

It has been some months since I arrived, but now I feel is the appropriate time for me to introduce myself. Friends, acquaintances, and those I have yet to properly endear myself to may know me by the moniker of Altsen. I must say, this London has captured my curiosity.
Frankly, the opportunities waiting to be made in this city make my blood quite simmering! So much interesting encounters to be had! If I had to say what would be the most exciting, it would indeed be testing my skills and wits in combat amongst members of the Black Ribbon. Feducci was most challenging to win against, while the duel with Vendrick gives me the slightest thoughts of regret, seeing how his story had to end that way.

After a beginning of picking pockets from various denizens of Spite, I pursued a profession as a Campaigner for the Church. In all honesty, that was a mistake on my part. Frankly, it was quite boring! The feckless rabble of 'supporters' didn't help much. Eventually, I would later resign that calling for a more- how would one say- 'active' one. As an Enforcer for the Revolutionaries, my usual day never goes by dully.

Recently, I was introduced to further machinations of the Great Game, with directions towards Wilmot's End. Certainly something to do later on.
Currently, I began my studies towards the Correspondence while spending my days inside the University. The path to becoming a Person of Some Importance is certainly open to me. But right now, I prefer to finish up all of my loose ends and round out my full potential before setting myself on that path.

    Good Evening Neathy Citizens,

I have been in the Neath for close to a year now, and I have finally deemed it prudent to introduce myself to the public (what few remain who haven't heard of me). Following a brief stint seeking to serve the authorities in London, I soon came to realise that authority is not what it seems in the dark. My eyes adjusted, if you will, and in the dark I have learned a great many secrets. Wolfstack gave me my opportunity to turn my back on the Masters and now I plot their demise.

    Good evening, all ya'll!

I am a person behind a screen, delivering to you these letters via the magic of the wireless internet connection! In the greater external world I do not go by Hotshot Blackburn, but you can refer me to that here if you need be.

Honestly, not much notable going on here. Joined a few months ago at a friend's encouragement, but I've always been interested in this kind of fictional setting (where there's Weird Stuff going down, but its heavily downplayed and treated more as a highly fanciful 'daily life' kind of thing. Not quite urban fantasy, not magic realism, somewhere...in between?), as well as alternate histories and weird histories and so forth. Not the Victorian England period oddly enough because of my semi-negative experiences with Dickensian London from a young age, but eh. Whatchagonnado.

When not here, I'm mainly studying for classes at the university, working, sleeping, writing, going to gatherings with friends, or hanging with family. Ultimately fairly mundane stuff really, at least for my position I guess. Not complaining though because too much energy and excitement is just...stressful. It's good to detox a while from the occasional jolt.

...that's it! I got nothing else to write.

Good Evening, I am Josh, completely new to Fallen London and brought here by Sunless Sea (absolutely love both games).

As a lover of books and video games, your work scratches both itches at the same time. More specifically as a previous poster said, I am a big fan of Lovecraft's writing and this really seems to evoke the style I loved so much from his books. (A massive complement coming from me)

    Hello, hello!

I'm Cryptix23 (what happened to the other 22? Well, uh LOOK A THREE-HEADED MONKEY). I'm a few days into Fallen London after a post about it caught my attention. Gaslamp horror/fantasy yesplz. So far my only complaint is the actions system, and only because I wanna do stuuuuff!

I cycle through various interests and pursuits, mostly literary or artistic and primarily concerning storytelling. Right now I'm big on older mysteries and pulp novels, more specifically anything to do with The Shadow or Sherlock Holmes.

That being said, it should be no surprise whatever that Fallen London's Cryptix is sort of a self-styled vigilante detective, eager to make connections, reform the police force, punish those who take advantage of or harm others and to help those that deserve helping. Delving deeper into politics, history, and the Great Game is also on the agenda. In the meantime, she has a soft spot for cats and ravens, sometimes thinks fondly of the Last Constable, and pens the occasional penny dreadful. Her biggest quandary is becoming appropriately Shadowy without committing crimes against the innocent (crimes against the guilty are another matter -- there's only room for so much morality if you're to get anywhere around here.)

Looking forward to spending entirely too much time in this little world.

Hello, delicious new friends! It's wonderful to meet you all!

I go by 3Squirrels (or some variant thereof) out here in internet land; in reality I'm a night shift RN who uses browser games to get through the dull ends of long, long shifts. I've been in Fallen London since it was the Echo Bazaar on and off for years now, though my current character of choice is Eddy Gale, a cracksman and conjurer of mysterious and indistinct gender. Eddy's currently making their way through a bunch of different storylines and the Light Fingers ambition - and if it weren't for the fact they just got booted from the university, they'd be farther than they are!

I like reading, writing, collecting comics, and generalized internet shenanigans in my spare time. Oh, and video games.

I roleplay two characters: the insane Flesh-Stick, who screams every random thought that pops into his head, and the reserved Lord Alaric, who finds living in Fallen London a string of painful humiliations and considers you all ruffians for being better at it than he is. If you message either of them you will get a reply in character, and they are not guaranteed to be flattering...or even coherent. You've been warned :P

That said, I do love to roleplay, so if you don't mind chatting with a cranky old man or a screaming lunatic, feel free to drop either character a line.

Glad to be a part of the game and the community!

    Salutations!

They call me Cuban Pete, your friendly neighborhood journalist from the West Indies. I like to meander through the streets of Ladybones and Veilgarden, enjoying the exotic magic and mystery that the Neath Offers.

When I am not lurking about Ladybones and the Palace for juicy gossip, I might instead be dealing in Rubbery shenanigans as The Octopus an indivdual of questionable sanity and gender with a fascination for things most ancient. He (or she) is often exploring the Unterzee or the Forgotten Quarter for tattered secrets about previous cities on behalf of a certain geographic society. Just avoid bringing up Plated Seals, that incident at the Opera House, or his pet theories on the Eighth City.

Good evening, ladies, gentlemen, and other individuals. My name is Ignacious. At a given moment you may find me behind closed doors and in excellent company, studying the secrets of this beautiful cavern we call the Neath, or in the middle of my most daring heist yet. Fighting? Oh, well. I have to say I am not fond of the activity myself, but I am not afraid of getting my knuckles a little bloody every once in a while.

My motivations? Why, my dearest. I wish to see everything the Neath has to offer, it doesn't matter if it is buried ten leagues under the zee, confined behind mirrors or concealed in a skirt. I shall experience every pleasure, uncover any secret and pilfer a sample of every item you can possibly imagine. I will most likely need some special cider for that, but that's on the list, as is almost everything else.

Oh, please don't look at me quite like that, dear, I wouldn't harm a fly. Worry not, for my magnanimity and steadfastness are as grand as my hedonism (if not my modesty, forgive me for that). I am not the type to step over others to reach the places I require. If it can only be acquired through the harming of others, then it is not worth acquiring, no further discussion.

Now, there's just one thing, don't speak to me about revolution. The bazaar brought us to this dark, lawless paradise of a thousand wonders, and for that we should be thankful, not plotting against it. If the masters are flawed, well so are we. Try to approach me with those silly ideas and you may find yourself regretting some things.

    Good evening!

I was finally lured onto the forums by discussion of the exceptional story, Discernment. Mostly, I wanted to pore through people's journals and see the results of options I didn't get to explore.

I wandered around to see the rest of the forum, saw there was a subforum for roleplay and fanfiction, and now I'm posting here!

I'm a roleplayer and a writer. I accept all in-game requests, but I might not get to them for a few days, since I tend to use all my actions on grinding for Mourning Candles.

I love the world of Fallen London. I love the original worldbuilding, the atmosphere of secrecy, and, of course, the humor. The writers who built Fallen London are incredible, and I'm so glad I started playing this game.

Good evening all! Very please to meet you. Call me Charlotte. Like a fair few, I imagine, I arrived here via Sunless Sea- so technically I've been playing since February. But the d--mable surface being what it is I only really got drawn in properly this Hallowmas past. Seeking to confess my many terrible sins I found my way here.

I like- Stories, history, vidya-geams, RP, Lore, all the sweet nourishing lore! Flailing around with swords (Fencing, Kendo, getting into HEMA), dabble in painting little tin-men, cat-herding, Parabola.

Well that's me. Always glad to make new delicious friends.

Good (in an assumed subjective sense) day (or the eternal twilight of the underzea), on the surface I am Maxwell, a young and aspiring individual most interested in particle physics, and dabbling in lesser subjects. Due to nefarious villains I have had to loose all property and start again from New Newgate prison

When I enter the deep I become Marius Finch, watchful and shadowy individual, continuing to unravel the secrets of Fallen London.

A glad tiding upon the citizens of the Neath, I have just arrived in Fallen London for the past few days, yet I have established myself as a devious and perceptive individual. As you can see, I went by an alias and I have no inclination to discuss my other alias(es).

I hope to explore and find fascinating things in Fallen London, and I am very interested upon the Lore and wonderful, if not mysterious personages in Fallen London.

Gossips and speculations are welcome, killing and other sorts of criminal activities are not beneath me, and I'd like to explore things. Just as a forewarning, if you do something harmful to me, I'd expect you to help me undo the damage in one way or another.

    Vielen Danke.

Good evening all. Funnily enough, I have not just entered the Neath. I actually spent my early days in the Neath sailing around the Unterzee in search of secrets and pushing the horizon as Good Captain Nameless. However, apparently pushing the horizon of the Admiral's bedroom window in search of secrets was a step too far, and Nameless ended up in New Newgate. An escape and a name-change later, and Kyron The Wise has arrived in Fallen London, eager to push the horizons and learn secrets once more. A few months of...let's call it meandering about, and Kyron has a Zubmarine, a Clay Sedan, and a Room at the Royal Bethlehem, and an odd dream about a Road.

(Translation: A friend got me hooked on Sunless Sea, which inevitably led to my discovery of Fallen London. After performing the customary lurking and loitering, the latter of which may or may not have been Suspicious, I decided to pop onto the forums.)

Kyron The Wise, Correspondent, and thus always a wee bit insane. Also now on the Seeking Road, I do not desire Mr. Eaten's name, but pursue the identity of another name. (Main Account):

Bonjour, delicious ones, from La Melusine. I have been haunting these lands for more days than I care to count. It is my dearest pleasure to make your acquaintances. I hope you have not heard of me, but should my hope be in vain, you ought to disregard whatever you've heard. I am anxious for new friends, so I entreat you to call on me any day you wish, excepting the Holy Day, which I reserve for my own use. Hello, I'm Calliope, or Callie for short! It's just about been three months for me in FL, and I have been playing it every day! I love the setting, one of my faves in any piece of media, and is the sole reason why Sunless Seas is on my Wishlist along with Skies despite the latter being effectively an 'upgrade' of the former mechanically, purely because More Lore, and because I'm literally much closer to the Zee than the mysterious Skies in FL.

In additional interests, I basically spend my free time watching Let's Plays of games on youtube, and very occasionally getting enough energy to play them myself! (another thing I really like about FL is that it's both suited for short bursts and also does not drain my energy to play, so it's basically perfect for my brain) Hope you all have a great time here, with me or otherwise. :3

Good evening, ladies, gents and wonderful people of every other pronoun and denomination. I have been playing this game for almost two years and only now have grown interested in the forums. Hopefully we can get along.

My character is Klaada Magna, formerly a surface archeologist who shed her name upon fleeing to London because of certain uncouth bounty hunters who were hot on her trail. She now seeks a better life under the comforting shrouds of the Neath.

    Love, Klaada.

Greetings most Delicious and Friendly Gentlebeings ...!

--> 'Drazzle' here, to familiars and friends - new in town, eternal in spirit - still getting my spats wet, but gradually wading out into the deep-end . . .

    {{Let me just stay in character, whilst nodding a sagely acknowledgement, in aside -:- that, i may indeed Dream, sometimes - of being Another - (whether channelling or channelled-by) : an Entity most often known as Doctor_Static (or, UncleSumer, in certain astral domains - and, among other epithets) -- But, evermore, i remain herein, as dubbed : }}

Yggdrasil "Drazzle" Fawlty Psmyth - an eloquent, engaging and obsequious chap of impeccable intent, if whimsical intentions - serendipitous yet studious; (eclectic, self-educated, hyper-literate, an "idiom-savant"); prone to fine sentiment and deep insight, whilst dabbling at this and that. Fond of forming friendships with Muses of beauty and character - and chummily avuncular with all urchins, cats, and most strangers.

. . . Life's a Riddle. The World's a Game. Love is a Mystery. Reality is a Dream. Time is a Song. Mind is a Word. Anarch Is Logos . . . Magick IS Afoot . . . And - the Game of The Game is a Name of a Name!

Am currently making waves in various fields - (bit of a portraiturist, & amateur detective...) - but until recently, my mainstay, in earning crust, has been the career of "Minor"-Poet -:- With such highlights as an inspired Honey-raving essay, in the FL Journal, (some mere "galley-slave" publishing - ghostwriting, or Nom d'Pluming - advice and gossip columns - as "Dour Prickchard"), freelance and commissioned rumour-mongering, dinner-speaking, public oratories, and philosopher baiting and debating, a few lectures at University, etc. -:- And a slim but vivid tale of love and horror: "The Honeycombs Of Heaven And Hell" - [ope' by quoth of Psmyth family Poem-Of-Reknown: "Across The Pale Parabola Of Joy"] - a chapbook yet making the rounds of Boheme and beyond - wherever a privvy needs at-hand pages of profundity and prosody! -:- Since, my second - the merely compelling far-shores, fantastic-journey-journal story : "Odysseus Of Otherwhere" - surrealisticly subtitled "The Starveling-Cat Stows Away"

-:- And, now - my newest Tale - deemed nigh masterful, an exceptional heroic romance, a cosmic fable : "Nod, Norn, and Null" - subtitled: "The Starveling-Cat Came Back - For More!" -:- Written almost entirely on the grounds of the Shuttered Palace - by quiet quill - to mark my retirement as a mere 'Minor'-Poet. -:- I am awhile a journeyman again - Until New Muse Beckons ! -:-

    - Known as a Man of Letters, a Savant of Speech, a Weilder of Word, and Wreaker of Weird * - having got my start in the Neath at Veilgarden -- arriving, as a Free man, destined, if not Fated, on the honeyed, haunted, heroic, heart-piercing occaision of the Valens'-Tines - February the fourteenth, 1897 . . . i have since taken up rooms above a bookshop - and steadily grow more un/settled, (and, at last, more aptly dapper) as i delve the neighboring Neath . . . ((* BTW: the string of bold "Titles", above are merely self-description, not formal achievements! -- But, they MAY be, Yet - for all i know, so far.)) . . . I try to keep my ambitions amorphous and open-ended - but i do fancy an ornate typewriter - an obsidian-black, tentacled model - that takes dictation & translates (Rubbery-Man, etc) - a too-costly custom make, as yet -- so i shall make-do, with a matte-black 'Fnord'. (or 'Golden Goose Quill'?)
((see new Thumbnail -:- Black, Tentacled Ornate Typewriter -:-))

. . . Hoping to make a few friendships - whilst thriving amidst Fallen London's abundance of soma and maya, mana and mojo!

. . . My ephemeral yet driven ways find me busy for days on end - then, abruptly - off distracted, scrying afar, or deep in erudite libromanic hermitage, or Rip-van-Winkle slumber - perhap for nigh as long a span as i might be found hereabout - - - So anyone welcoming, mentoring, etc. - or who might feel we'd have sympatico, with aims towards cultivating a camradery, might best try a calling card hallo, and trust serendipity and synchrony to meet. And, By-the-by - i'm not all-ways such a babbler - between fits of blather, i DO manage the odd nutshell of gnomic epigram in my idiom.

Serene Salutations, to all and sundry,

Delicious and Friendly - for the nonce -

It has been precisely four years since I last set foot in London. One thousand, four hundred, sixty-one days of darkness and loneliness, adrift in the Endless Sea. I have moved up in the world, as I started a mere stoker and come home as Captain. And Engineer. And, well, anything I want, I guess, since I'm the only one left. Well, except for Mr. Nibbles, of course, but I'm sure he won't mind. Now finally, I go to see who now lives in my house, who has married my wife, who has taken my children, and if the Gorgeous Muskrat still serves those blood pies that I love. And then, of course, I must do what I have dreamed of doing- I must write, using my notes made on...well, let's not worry about that, shall we?

(I'm Sir Hufflepuff Bradleymuffins, and it really has been four years. I'm also Matthew, currently in central Ohio, and I am hoping for friends. Or acquaintances. Or enemies. I'll take anything, really, or else I shall have nothing. And that wouldn't do at all).

I beg pardon, dear ladies and gentlemen and creatures of the Neath, I fear I have been too caught up in my studies to introduce myself. To rectify my terrible error, I am Rose, Rose Maze, as my mother was terribly fond of them. It was likely fortunate indeed she never descended to the Neath or I would have had the shame of a honey addict as my forebear.

Regardless, I greet you all with a glad heart and hope to enter in many a mutually beneficial partnership.

Greetings, gentlebeings. I have been lurking around the forums for quite some time, but I believe proper introductions are in order now. My name is Miria Springfield. I came to the Neath a while back, in search of the person who changed my life; I sometimes affectionately call them "my Nemesis". Sadly,I am a poor, defenceless lady, completely appalled by violence, and I do not have the intellectual means to track my quarry and give them my proper regards. I have also heard rumours of something called "the great game", but sadly my knowledge of cricket is lacking and I didn't understand much.
I am open to all social actions save loitering and Dante's.
My sister, Claire, is also a citizen of the Neath, but I fear the poor thing is making her final preparations for a great voyage to the North,or so she claims. Perhaps one day I will follow her.

    Good evening, beings.

Billy Bones jr came to the neath because he was so intrigued by Exaltation ending in Sunless Sea. He wanted to know what all that name-wich-burns stuff means. He hopes to find some answers by seeking the Name.
The easy part (where you complete all available gold cards, become exception friend, travel to the nadir etc.) is complete. He is preparing now for the hard part: parting with all those.

Hey all, been playing on-and-off for about a year and a half. I really enjoy the writing in both FL and SS which continues to ensnare me even after leaving the game(s) for months.

Good day... afternoon... evening? Hard to tell here, honestly. Where was I? Oh yeah, name's Llywellyn, got here after falling from an airship in... completely legal circumstances... ((actually I have been playing the game on and off for a while but kinda forgot everything)) and I've been trying to get around in Veilgarden and elsewhere. Feel free to invite over me for dinner, a game of chess or exchanging of compromising information about moderately important individuals.

Good evening, friends, I am the Illusory Fugitive. You can find me on Tumblr as the-air-of-london and on FL as QuantumSky.

You can find the less advisable happenings of the Frantic Academic on FL at ClaraElizabeth, though I would advise caution. That account is for nothing good.

Why, I didn't see you there! You aren't one of those boors from the Constabulary, are you... Regardless!

I should introduce myself. Tybalt Serpentseer, Magician of the Glass and Pursuer of my Heart's Desires! You may have heard of me after that... inconvenient business at the palace.
While I try my best to remain a gentleman of varied and extended interests, my passion lies in the fantasies and... facinating truths that one might find exporing the mysteries of the human psyche, and the mirrored gateways that link to it. My personal research leads me down paths one might consider unsavoury, but one can hardly understand the weaknesses of glass without shattering and mending it again, can they?

I welcome any and all who would join me in exporing the mysteries of Parabola, and all things ophidian! Of course, there is honey to be had, and wild words to be shared on the way to shattering the limits of the expected, and some might say, the reasonable. Join me... And dream of a Night most Liberated!

Hello! Delicious to meet you all. I have been quietly corrupting my corner of Fallen London for a while, but I'm returning after some time dealing with some Surface business. I'm new to social actions etc so happy to make acquaintances and open to investigating areas of mutual benefit.

    Yours in shadow,

Good evening, delicious friends! Please allow me introduce myself. My name is Vali, and I am a completely new face in the world of Fallen London. I have already made two characters, and I am slowly becoming immersed in this mysteriously dark and gothic world.

Please, feel free to become well-aquatinted with my characters! Their profiles are in my signature (I hope...I always was did have a hard time with technology). I must warn you though, my schedule is a little bit of a mess right now with when I can end up playing or not. But still, it is a pleasure to introduce myself to such deliciously potential friends.

Well, I suppose it is time I make an appearance here, an official introduction, so to speak. You may call me Achanei, down here in the Neath, where I intend to stay for a while. Quite a fascinating place, really, it will keep me busy for some time I suspect.

I have been keeping my head low since I got here some months ago, came down on a boat, actually - some rather fervent fellow, was always going on about the Sun. Anyways, I am trading in secrets and doing favours, and while I will maintain a measure of discreetness that has served me well so far, if anyone is interested in some mutually beneficial collaboration, I am always happy to make new , delicious friends. I am currently mostly busy with making a bit of a splash in the upper reins of London's society, but there are plenty of other things I have cooking, too. I maintain a few addresses here and there, so if anyone wants to find me, you know how.

Be aware that I will be taking a few trips around the zee in the near future, as I have recently won my first ship in a certain game and will be making some use of it on some quixotic quest or another.

Good evening delicious friends. I arrived in Fallen London a little over a year ago, though I admit I kept mostly to myself. I am a poetess and a scholar above all else. If perchance you've overheard any rumors regarding myself and sedition well...one cannot bring liberation with breaking a few shackles.

Greetings and salutations to all my fine new friends,

I have been absent for about a year, but the ache returned and soon so did I. It seemed appropriate that I take to the guise of a befuddled but enthusiastic foreigner, since my main tactic in Fallen London appears to be wandering about and bumping into stories and opportunities without any real rhyme or reason. I've made a forum account initially to find people to interact with in-game, but also to involve myself in any roleplaying that may happen about the place. Please feel free to send me a message in either capacity and I shall respond as quick as I am able.

Looking forward to meeting each of you,
    Gerhardt

Thick of facial hair and equally thick of accent, he can be found at all manner of high society events but is not above hiking up his immaculate britches and wading through the muck. That is, as long as there is a decent story in it.

Greetings to all. My name is- ah, well, I suppose it's not all that important. You might know me as Frogvarian, though many simply call me R. I have come to London to enjoy it's delicacies - the food, the secrets, the people - and, ah, for other selfish reasons...

I am quite excited to meet you all, and, of course, for all to once know the name of Frogvarian.

Good evening edible friends (and to be fair, all friends are edible at least once),

I am recently returned to Fallen London after a long absence. In my past, I had been a silent creature who sought no company and contented myself with the quiet mystery of the city. But now, with a new face and name, and the chance to explore paths previously untrodden, I hope to have the pleasure of making your acquaintance.

Good Evening. I am Methuselah Black, a man of little importance and a new arrival in Fallen London. This curious mind is inundated with the mystery of the Neath, and I greatly desire its secrets. In a similar light it is the untapped depths of the human mind that hold my fascination, and I delight in listening to the mad man and digesting the paranoid tales of the haunted crone. Because in the end people are their own secrets, and likewise keys to questions hidden in dark places. So I watch. Listen. Learn.

The truth will set us free.

    Good evening Ladies and Gentleman,
it is my very honor to speak to such an illustrious round of individuals as yourselves and I would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for welcoming me so gracefully.
As for introductions; my name is Kyroyal, Lady Kyroyal to be precise. I fare from another nation in Europe but feel very lucky to be here today. Travelling has been strenuous, but I have already feel welcome here in London, that we all call home.
Dabbling in societal affairs and writing are both my passion and profession and I would be most grateful if I could make personal acquaintances with all of you. Being new in town sure makes a lot of things in daily life a mystery in itself, but I am eager to study the ways of the surface and Neath and would love to share my thoughts on findings. A pen pal would be highly appreciated, as I still seek some guidance although I like to wander the streets by myself as well. Sometimes in the shadows.
I wish you all well and a wonderful and exciting evening.
    Lady Kyroyal
