I have finally reached 200 dangerous and am now A Shattering Force.

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

It irks me that Mister Tiger hasn't made an appearance yet to confirm whether or not Paramount Presence is currently available. edited by Shadowhand on 3/17/2014

Try and see it from the perspective of someone who has made a conscious choice to spend less time interacting with the playerbase in favor of producing more content. In the tradeoff, we even got the addition of Flyte as a liaison. I can understand how it feels less satisfying to have distance placed there. The fact that it's invoking an emotional reaction is in itself instructive.
If it would help, remember that the game is still "in beta" and there is much still in the backlog. Perhaps focus your efforts on an area with more definiton, and trust in time (and the wicked books) to deliver.

And I have raised all four of my basic stats to 200. Except for Watchful; due to an errant mouse click, I sacrificed Notability 12 to become Watchful 212.

Oh, I know, I'm not complaining.
Well, I sort of am, but not in any manner that should be taken seriously.

Right then, let's just chalk it up to the vagaries of internet foruming. Similarly, I hope I didn't come off as lecturing. Cheers.

All non-serious complainers will be defenestrated. You do not wish to know the punishment for serious complainers. Merely be aware that even the Tiger Keeper shudders at the thought of unleashing me.
... Apologies - I appear to be typing up my fantasies again. What I *meant* to say is: I suspect FB/HatKitty sometimes choose not to respond, rather than neglect to. Were they to reveal all about everything, there would be unreasonable expectations set, mysteries might be less mystie, and they'd be constantly monitoring and replying here rather than doing the creative work we're actually here for. Flyte isn't a replacement for HatKitty, nor has HatKitty gone completely. I don't think a non-answer here is due to an absence of cat or a presence of weasel. Some questions just aren't answered, yet.
Um. WherewasIgoing? Lost! LOST! I think saying: there is no tradeoff, more content, still FB interaction, but they never answered all. They have always been teases, whipping off veils to reveal burkas, and so on. Ask questions, but don't feel forlorn when they go unanswered. (In short, despite what was said at the time, I don't think much distance has appeared. We are as informed. Tigers are just more attractive than Weasels. {Sorry Flyte. It's the tail.}*)
Edit: *I may retract this. This is a good tail. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3gizMn849hs/UHdBrqAdY4I/AAAAAAAAHK4/r2TVOBc97Xo/s1600/Long-tailed+Weasel.jpg Compare: http://scienceprojectideasforkids.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/tiger-tail.jpg (Don't search for "tiger tail" on the internet. Too many pictures of people pulling the tails of chained tigers. Saddening.) edited by babelfishwars on 3/18/2014

I believe Flyte underwent great trials to earn place at the right hand of Lord HatKitty and it is such that his tailness deserves our noblest exaltation. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/70/Wenceslas_Hollar_-_The_basilisk_and_the_weasel.jpg/671px-Wenceslas_Hollar_-_The_basilisk_and_the_weasel.jpg

Mission abort, mission abort! I feel like we're getting dangerously close to Rule 34 territory. Let's not go there. (And if anybody already went there, please don't tell me.)

I believe Flyte underwent great trials to earn place at the right hand of Lord HatKitty and it is such that his tailness deserves our noblest exaltation. Candidates may or may not have been required to produce apposite quotations from Borges, and I may or may not have chosen this:
The Basilisk dwelled in the desert; or more accurately, it made the desert. Birds fell dead at its feet and the earth's fruits blackened and rotted; the water of the streams where it quenched its thirst remained poisoned for centuries. That its mere glance split rocks and burned grass has been attested by Pliny. Of all animals, the weasel alone was unaffected by the monster and could be counted on to attack it on sight... The seasoned traveller was careful to provide himself with either a caged rooster or a weasel... I'm more than happy to discuss community interaction, by the way. Perhaps I'm biased, but it does seem to me that we have an unusually open and informal relationship with our players. It helps that we have an unusually lovely fanbase; we've had 70 or 80 emails about the Fleeting Recollections bug in the last four days, and almost all of them were polite, understanding and pleasant. Thank you.
The limiting factor on individual interactions here on the forums is, of course, time. Alexis is the owner of a small company and the parent of a small child. He's also a writer and a game designer and, this week, a conference attendee.
And here's a partial list of my responsibilities:
- Putting together ad campaigns, monitoring their effectiveness, and iterating accordingly.
- Coaxing our databases into answering useful questions like 'At which points in the game are people most likely to stop playing?' and 'What sorts of content are they most interested in paying for?' This is rather harder than it perhaps sounds.
- Managing our social media presence.
- Putting together access codes.
- Gathering feedback and implementing whichever bits we consider both practicable and desirable.
- Testing new content and features.
- Maintaining and publishing changelogs.
- Responding to support emails and fixing bugs, when they're not in the underlying tech.
- Sundry one-off tasks like marking answers to the Mysteries, but mostly less visible.
- And... talking to people on the forums.
I suspect this speaks for itself; but, further, as has been said in this thread, it isn't really me people want to talk to. So I think I should be concentrating on finding cost-effective ways to advertise, so we don't go bust; and responding within 24 hours to support emails, as I almost always do, except on weekends; and providing regular, limpid and reasonably entertaining updates on Facebook and Twitter, so more players see them; and interrogating the qualitative and quantitative data, so we can make the game better.
I will, of course, continue to post, at more or less the same rate as at present. But I wanted to be open and transparent about the reasoning behind my current level of engagement. As for Alexis... I confess I've been gently encouraging him to post less, because time spent fielding a question about, say, whether becoming a Paramount Presence is possible yet is time almost everyone would rather he spend writing more content for FL or Sunless Sea.

Very Interesting Flyte. Can I ask if Alexis has given you a hint as to whether or not it is possible to become a Paramount Presence yet?

Let me be clear again that my complaint was a non-complaint, and I think that FBG has some of the most courteous, accommodating, comradely team members anywhere. We came for the rubbery lumps, but we stay for you.
