It is worth pointing out that we could pool resources using Hithes to snowball enigmas; but there's a lot of menace attached, the card is infrequent and nobody knows how success and failure are calculated for it. I'm willing to pool resources. It shouldn't be that much of a problem if it's towards higher-level players, and the trithe option can be used by both parties, which would raise the frequency and avoid menaces. edited by mayexist on 11/26/2013

FWIW, I just noticed a new entry on the Slowcake's amanuensis card that would allow one to devour one's own entry and gain St D's candle in the process.

Oh my god that option sounds hilarious. I always thought Notability was hellishly difficult enough to be part of SMEN. Clearly Alexis agrees :v

Many thanks for the rapid clarification replies on a number of these things. Going to be so busy between Ubergoat-age; these new ever more brutal requirements; and getting back into K&C.
One more Seeker requesting a PM on this mercenary option in that case, if at all possible.

Thanks for the PM. Interesting and I'm sure I will visit the Mirror Marches sometime and see if it is something I might do or not.
I wonder if devouring your Slowcake entry will mean just having to start again or if you shut yourself off from Notability permanently. Fortunately I do not have to find out for myself. edited by reveurciel on 11/26/2013

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

If that's the new Destin's option then I guess the God's Editor thing might actually be something new.
And that means I need to grind Enigmas. Even though I'm still repairing Destin's damage to my stats.

It requires you to have 77 Connected: Society, 7 Notability, 7 Making Waves, and no profession. It goes without saying that you'll lose all of it, of course. And who knows what's on the other side of that option, punishment-wise.

Well, you need
no profession, notability 7, MW 7 and society 77 as well.
I'd warrant it even locks you out of Notability forever, but maybe that's too mean.

I actually think that satisfies the text that each Destin's method is harder than the last.
I'm still hovering at Notability 3 and hoping I get the cards I need to get my Salon ready for the jump from 4 to 5. I don't actually know if my plan for the jump from 3 to 4 is good enough yet.
I can't even begin to get my head around the shenanigans you'd have to get up to to reach Notability 7 before Time the Healer screws it up for you. edited by NinjaComedian on 11/26/2013 edited by NinjaComedian on 11/26/2013

Do those numbers have to all be on 7, or 77, or can they be more? Also, do you lose them all, regardless of high how they are - or just that many points worth, (at 356+ in Society, so...)
Being locked out of Notability seems a bridge too far. The punishments in SMEN have always been harsh - but the only 'permanent' one I've seen is
A bitter parting - if you betray your spouse. And even then you can just spend a couple of thousand echoes on a litter of midnight matriarchs. If you don't, there's a range of other spouses, especially with fate locked content
I'm all for horrific burnings of progress - but to cauterise them entirely and start simply locking out parts of the game.. It actually goes against the essence of FL which is the freedom, and even that encompasses SMEN, (hell, even literally killing yourself permanently for 50 fate at one point is an option, so I would say it goes against SMEN as well).

Delicious, papery fame. Since this is printed in what seems like quite a common book, I assume you have to track down every single copy and eat your entry out of each one.* Although I suppose there is a certain notability in being "that odd chap that keeps breaking into everyone's houses and eating their books." Does the option have anything to say on the subject of condiments?

Yes, Restitution is a SMEN menace card which starts showing up at Marsh Mired 4; i.e. after you betray two people in the St. Arthur's Candle segment.

Huh. I just drew a Mind and the Number, and it had an option I hadn't seen before (No. The soul.); it presumably allowed me to make it a Soul and the Number card at the cost of 7 actions. A similar action might have existed for scarring, but I'm fully scarred. Either way, I'm surprised and happy about this. I didn't take it, but it would be a nice way to handle things if somebody was getting very unbalanced draws.
