Almost all of them have hints of becoming consumed by your profession, possibly more literally for the Laocoonian than most. Wait, so for a Correspondent to become a Speaker...
O.O What's the big deal? Levels 12-14 in Scholar of the Correspondence already have the descriptor "Speaker". (I'd worry a bit about the level 18 - Igneate Eye, meaning "burning eye"). I feel like SotC 12 means you're capable of speaking the Correspondence while becoming a Speaker means that the Correspondence speaks through you.

I apologize repeatedly.

You know what I just realized? I just got the Unsigned Message storylet, and since I'm not gunning for a profession, I tried for the gift. I failed.
"We submit to you this token to assist you in self-enticement. Grow strong. Grow famous. Lead the tales."
The token? A Vision of the Surface. The Bazaar is ostensibly enticing your character by offering them a glimpse of the world above the Neath. Enticing them to "lead the tales".
In light of Iron Sacks' warnings, this seems...troubling.

I am now a Correspondent, and no longer able to accept invitations as an Author. (Or so I believe.)

Indeed. In particular, i also find alarming the fact that Mr.Iron tries to "buy" one's Notability in exchange for Prize Tokens.
But...
Why?

I suppose that gift is a good reason to build Notability even if it's not needed for anything else.

Why? [spoiler]The Bazaar values notable individuals for the role they can be made to play in generating stories. Mr Iron wishes to obstruct the Bazaar's manipulations -- perhaps in service to its own interests, but more probably, I think, because it values dignity and autonomy.

@Flyte. I think i made myself misunderstood, sorry.
I meant: why Mr.Iron seem to oppose the Bazaar?

I meant: why Mr.Iron seem to oppose the Bazaar? Few mere Londoners would presume to know why a Master does or seems to do anything. We do, however, know that the politics between the individual Masters and the Bazaar itself are more complicated than a new arrival might suspect. Some want the Bazaar to leave London, some are happy for it to stay. We know The Bazaar wants love stories and that it is consumed by melancholy. We definitely don't know whether that's all it wants. As to the specific actions in question, I'm sure more clues will come in time.
