Unequipping my Destiny

So I just got around to equipping my Destiny for the Watchful bonus (Gleam). I'd now like to reduce my watchful, but am finding I can't unequip it. Has anyone else encountered this?

DragonRidingSorceress is an Author of good standing. Mostly good standing. She's happy to accept any social action except Photographer and Loitering, but requests warnings before duping/poisoning/etc.

I'm afraid it's stuck there permanently. Or at least until you change your destiny. Ships, Spouses, and Clubs act the same way.
