A Bat with Attitude?

I've acquired a Bat with Attitude at some point, but I cannot figure out what it is used for. It almost seems like something marking progression in a story, but the Bazaar is offering a bit over 12 echoes for it. I'm inclined to just keep it for now, in case I need it later, but wanted to see if it was confirmed one way or the other (Being needed or not needed)

I have no idea what they're for, and I have three now. They're sitting in what I refer to as the 'Quest-related Items' section of my inventory, looking surly and indignant. I would love to find a purpose, if anyone knows one or has even seen them mentioned in any other context in the game.
Heck, I'd be interested in speculation, we're a creative bunch, we should be able to /make up wild theories/ provide some educated guesses about its purpose.
What has made these bats so ill-tempered? Has their lot been one of hardship and rejection? Hard work and broken pride?
