I have reached connected hell 261, which will, worst case scenario so far, be roughly equivalent to renown 40. I'll keep going and boost it to 321 for renown 50 eventually, but for now i'll curry favor with the constables instead- and i still have casing level 50 for that! Progress!

I just got the Blemmigan Secretary. The night before the auction son I don't even have to consider it. I can't believe it. (...I wonder if Failbetter would let someone get a second. It's only possible to get one via Bundle, after all...)
Oh, and I can confirm the Bundle value has been changed. I checked through my profile and my Bundle value was exactly 1000.

So I decided to get Notability 1, just for the kicks. I got the Amanuensis card in hand, but only 7 Making Waves (and I needed 15). I decided to write a gothic romance in Court to pass the time (since I would scream if I did ONE MORE CAROUSEL OF AFFAIR OF THE BOX), wrote one in two days, got an awful lot of scandal. Then came A Polite Invitation, and my scandal reached 8 short afterwards (but not before I could get my MW to 11). I went to the tomb-colonies, got another tomb-lion, reached MW 12 when I got back and, before I even considered spamming people with social actions to the remaining 3 MW, I flipped my deck and the card of God Editors was the first to fall on my hands.
Gothic Romance to pass the card's challenge for free? Checked. One action spent.
Tons of Collated Research that I collected just because what is a Professor without Collated Research? Check. Another action spent in the Bazaar Sidestreets.
I got the membership, and then I only needed MW 11 to Notability 1. A third action spent and boom! I have Notability without even trying, in a chain of random actions that all came together to make me notable in 3 actions. I love those small convergences when they happen.

Congratulations, Professor! I also do enjoy when multiple, total random, events get you such a desired result!
Now, after 3 fails, I got my Yacht!!! Not really good fortune, but, after the first two failures, I was preparing myself for 5+.
I got my honey from the Court for the extra MW and, even if some points are lost, I got my Notability to 7 after calling Amanuensis from my lodgings. I was also lucky to get the An Unsigned Message card which I kept (for the Gift) so I can use it for better odds. I managed to succeed and got my second Surprise Package. I'll be holding onto these until I get involved into Soul Trade and start selling my soul for very shinny diamonds!

Assuming that the odds are 20%, it's actually a rather fortunate result- compared to the average, you saved 20 echoes in amber, 25 in personal favors, 25 in cellars of wine, and 120 echoes in recomendations (assuming you're buying and not Fidgeting Writer or rare successing for the bribes.) Assuming the odds are 30%, you had a 34.3% chance to fail to get it in three tries, which still pretty lucky for you to have avoided- or at least not unlucky. (the average in that case would probably be somewhere between three tries and four tries- maybe 3 and a third tries?)
Also, Congradulations, professor! Good luck getting notability two!
Now for my own achievement. It's not much: I arrived at connected:constables 160. probably going to get tired of grinding it and go for a break doing something else.

A small achievement, comparatively speaking, but I achieved my fifth point of notability today. It didn't take as long as I thought it might. In fact, I'm not yet ready to upgrade my profession. Need more diamonds.

Well, it is far behind the staggering achievements some of you are talking about, but I recently achieved two pleasant accomplishments:
1) I became an author before becoming a POSI, one of the little extra goals I'd set myself.
2) I just liberated my aunt from the Brass Embassy! Yay for the family reunion! I felt so disappointed with myself when I initially failed to talk the devils out of dragging her away, but I have finally reclaimed her. What to *do* with her now will be another question!
I'm also getting closer to my other meta-goal, to hit natural 100 on all qualities before becoming a POSI. Once I got Shadowy past 80, that quality suddenly seemed to become a lot easier to increase, so the goal feels within reach now.
