I don't know of any use other than the stat boost, which it's worth noting is a hat that You Must Put On. (don't be me, and go through three mood cards wondering why your odds of success never changed before going to the web to figure out what you'd done wrong)
My impression is that the main use is for those looking to do things like increasing SOtC to really high levels -- where you need beyond-max stats.

Finally a POSI after working really hard to put my stats to the 100's (except Shadowy, because screw Shadowy, I have equipment!). Thank you for all the help. I'm currently finishing the term around here and tests are drowning me, but the comic should come back soon with those developments.

(after which I promptly threw that greasy so and so from Slowcakes out on his ear, it was so not worth it, but so very satisfying)

I'm not sure if this counts, but using the Favors Criminals card to sucessfully steal a entire 2800 glim shipment from The Widow on such a low Shadowy CHeck felt good. Now if only I could steal a shipment of Peach Brandy...

Congratulations, everybody!
Not much, but I got my 4 card lodgings few days ago. Those heist were very interesting; even if I get lower EPA, I find them thrilling!
And second: I'm close to my first 100+ connection which, oddly, it's the Church.

I think The Public Lecture is the best with 15 CP of 3 factions. It'll get to 12 CP as you need to clear up suspicion which is best done in Spite with the right Air. To change the Air just farm Widow connections.
Bit offtopic, but is there a guide to best actions for certain Air levels? For example, I want to lower suspicion (0-25), farm Widow connection with best action (33-67), but I find the gain of 5-6 CP of Widow connection from different Airs not really worth it.

What chance did you have?
It was 46% at 229 Shadowy, cost 5 Favors Criminals, and if you fail you (Presumably) get nothing and lose the Favors, all for a collection of a fairly commonplace item. 0-0
But you know what? Worth it. XD

While you guys are arguing about how to optimize your deck I just whine about the Struggling Artist and cram as many cards as I could into my deck. Then I ended up with a sad little 49 Renown and turns out the grind never ends until Renown actually hits the town.
ANBile probably has a better spread of connection than I do, at least on the less grindable factions like Great Game.

Spend money on absolution ablution- randomly gives 1-10 points suspicion reduction, with an average of 6. this means that every time you get to suspicion 4, you should use it. It doesn't sound like it'd make much difference, but in actuality it should change a lot. (non- POSI's get twice as much max benefit, at 1-20 for an average of 11 points suspicion. still, most of them won't have the requisite echoes.)
Alternatively, for even faster suspicion reduction, you can go to prison- using suspicion reduction to make you arrive at 9, not 8- and spend money like water- buy lots of knives at 12.8 echoes beforehand, give them to the fence for 12 points suspicion reduction each, leave. it's not viable in the long run, i believe, because the game gives you another X points when you become a wretched recidivist, and that X is probably ~20, making it only slightly better, if that, than absolution ablution- still, if you're a wretched recidivist already, it might be worth doing. Almost certainly not, though.
50*321- higher than we actually need, since it's really about 297*50- is 1070 rounds of public lectures. if you're up for 16 hours a day, and use your plays every time as-or-before you build up to 20, you get 116 actions a day. assuming that 26 of those go to cards and socialization actions, it's 90 actions a day.
1070/90 = 12 days. but you have to reduce suspicion too, so let's factor that in: 1070*7/6 = ~1249 actions in total, assuming average luck. divide 1249/90 and you get ~14 days.
Constables/Hell will be slower, and doesn't come with other connections attached. if i did my math correctly, i'll need to go through about 60 levels of casing minimum.
This means renown through favors take less actions, with this being the only exception, and only if you want all three - but it's card dependent, (with the exception of this docks-favors-grind i just thought of, but that's not urgent and will get expensive fast. i think it can wait until post-transition, where it might be viable for more types.) while pre-raising connections isn't.
I don't know of any such guide, but if someone made it, i would love to read it. don't forget to mention the docks favor for airs- even if it's three actions for it, or even four, it'll help anyone after renown desperately enough.
Also, estelle- you might want to look into boosting hell, i've been going with the baseline of the nastier changes, where 321 is what gets turned into renown 50. or not, you look good to hit 42 with that anyways- enough for the item, at least. Congrats, you're going to do better than i am in these changes.

I had an alt robbing drunks and helping Urchins in Spite yesterday, trying to get warm amber to give to the Rubberies after they had visited Flute Street to get the new item a couple of days ago. They mis-clicked and robbed a rat and got a watch. They also got the cane from the cavalry officer when they were changing Airs of London to try to get the Urchins option in Opportunism in Spite. Earlier that day they got a Bat with Attitude. So three rare successes in one day is very good fortune.
Also while they were visiting Flute Street I realised that character hadn't completed their Neathy Pokemon so they also picked up the final pet they needed to do that.
