I hit 200 Persuasive (due to a prolonged affair at the House of Chimes with an alt. Implications: unpleasant; I shall rationalise it RP-wise by saying that we merely spoke to each other in quite a cordial, business-like fashion for a very long time. Which did wonders for my confidence. Yes.)!

And then I stupidly clicked on the Nadir while I had 0 undrawn cards in my deck, and while I was in the midst of an RP. Am now waiting. Painfully. Sorry Andrew. =/

So, it turns out that counting the sale value of everything I own, the total worth has just passed 160000 echoes (Cider money).

This, of course, includes quite a few items I have no intention of selling, either because they are hard to come by (e.g. Impossible Theorem), or are useful to me (e.g. Overgoat).

So, the Cider itself will probably still wait for a few more weeks (depending on where I decide to draw the line), but it's within reach! I'll invite everyone for a drink when I have it!

Congratulations dov!

FYI, it took me *calculates* 50 days to re-Overgoat after selling the Ubergoat to buy Cider.

This is hardly comparable to being close to Cider, but, I've just gotten myself a third Midnight Matriarch via cat boxes!

Hmm. 50 days for 11713 Echoes = ~234E/day. Assume you start at 7 a.m. with full candles and play every action through to say 11 p.m., that gives [40+(16*6)]=136 actions day, or 1.72 E/action. That's pretty damn maximised :-).

I usually play 144 actions a day :-)

I don't sleep full nights because the youngest doesn't, so I always play the full 144/day (which isn't that far off your calculations). Also drinking Cider adds 6 Frequent-frequency cards to your deck that give 2.50 echoes each, though you do have to (a) drink Cider and (b) reduce nightmares that you also get from the cards. But yes, even with sending sips to other people for coffee requests (which is fine! I have to keep MW up anyway, they're just not direct earners), I am a grinding machine. Menace. Something.

Ocelot,

Are the Cider cards really that profitable? We had this discussion with NiteBrite a few months back, and it seemed that their profitability is lower when taking into account the cost of the needed menace reduction (and there's also opportunity cost from clattering the deck with frequent cards). I don't think we've reached a final verdict.

Edit: found the thread.

Yeah, I Gawp at the Hyena when absolutely necessary and also visit the Nadir to manage my Nightmares, though at the moment I have a boatload of Connected: Revolutionaries to get rid of so I've actually run my Taste quality down to zero so I get the cards out of my hand. But when you've already optimized your deck and aren't trying for the same Standard-frequency card over and over and OVER again, I don't find them that big a deal. (Also there aren't many cards that are more profitable than these, yeah? Lodgings at the Bazaar, One's Public, the Vance tribute card, Implausible Penance, that one backer card that isn't the Parliamentarian . . . that's not a lot.)

Well, there are a few other really profitable cards, such as A Visit, The Neath's Mysteries, the Rooftop Shack card (with the Forger), etc.

It's also depends on how you compare it. If my calculations in that old thread are correct (and they might not be!), the Cider cards in effect only provide the equivalent of 166 epa, and there are quite a few other cards which beat that (The Paronomastic Newshound, Promenade with the Celebrated Artist's Model, even A day out in your Clay Sedan Chair).

But I agree that these cards sound like a very fun diversion.

Compared to Cider and lucky cats boxes and all that...uh, well, I reached 3000 echoes in echoes. And have 10k of most 1st-tier convertible items (darn you, Lamplighter's Beeswax and souls! Anyone have tips for grinding those as a non-POSI?). Yeah.

I received my first Coruscating Soul through the Fidgeting Writer! Amusingly, I got it from my last 'last hope' and subsequent 'lens'. smile I waited until I had 7 Room Numbers because 7 is The Number. I probably should've waited until I had 7 Lens too, but I was feeling whimsical today.

I recently became a Correspondent and I just wrote a news paper article about the Master's scheming against London and each other.

I also just got a lease at the Bazaar for the 250 collated research option, so if things go well for christmas I can get two 5 card places to live.

Not really fortune, but counterpoint to my idiocy in trading in Notability just before Hallowmass: managed to make it back up from 0 to 11 in 5 days and then have the Huffam boost on top of that. Less painful than I expected!
