If I may: When one acquires an Overgoat, one is Overgoated. As the word goat comes from the Old English "gat" for female goat, to be Overgotten, Overgot or any other dirivitive of the verb "to get"(or "to beget" from the Old Norse) would likely anger the Overgoat, which is not recommended. However, to Overgloat, which is to brag of one's Overgoat, is perfectly acceptable.

As mine has temporarily been relegated to the upper decks of a derelict tramp steamer that I am using to stash the scraps of... junk... he is helping me to acquire, would it be appropriate to refer to him as an Overboat Overgoat? (If only I could fortify my premises with a defensive waterway... well, I'm sure you see where that's headed.)

If you are referring to your derelict transport, according to maritime law a vessel which has been permanently withdrawn for navigational purposes is classified as a "dead vessel" and must use the prefix "DV." Such a vessel is no longer under the jurisdiction of the Admiralty, and thus it's designation as a boat at all might be brought into question. It is best to avoid such complications.

It is good to hear the wisdom of the Overgoat on matters grammatical. Truly it is a font of knowledge. I had wondered if acquiring an Overgoat was overbegetting (or beovergetting?), but I suppose overbegetting is something that Overgoats do themselves when making new Overgoats for all the Londoners who want to buy them.

Um, this is quite embarrassing, but I would have reached this point months ago... only I'd always thought that the Overgoat cost 117120 echoes. It's only thanks to Abraham Bounty's post above that I realized my mistake.
A pleasure to be of service miss. When I first entered London, I thought the Over goat cost 1171.28 and I though it unusual that it was a price not divisible by 10 or even 5 pence. I eventually realized my mistake.

Not only was your gang easier to acquire, it will allow you simple, if time consuming, entry into many places, some of which will put you further down the road to Overgoathood.

Well, nothing unusually ominous anyway.

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

Have you EVERY house? check All PoSI items? check Is your equipment maxed? check Have you an Overgoat? working on it How high is your Master Thief? How high are your Newspaper Accomplishments? How high is your Experienced Zailor? How high is your the Boatman's Opponent? Have you maxed out all your Quirks? Have you maxed out all of your Connections? To at least 150? I don't see any point to farming these. Are there any benefits at all? Did you get the Consonant Violin? Iron Republic Journal? Anarchist's Sabel or Neddy Jacket? Bifurcated Owl? Clothes Colony and Unfinished Hat? Check Do you have a Rare Pet? A Bat with Attitude? Rare pet, check. play the bat card every time it comes up but no luck yet. How high is your Connected: Masters? 3 Does your mantelpiece display and singular item and a singular accomplishment? what are you calling "singular"? Have you every item in the game including things like Primeval Hints, Trembling Amber and Unusual Love Stories? Yep How many Fourth City Airags do you have? Just the one. How many Cryptobotanical Rosettes do you have? None.
I also have stacks of over 10k of all the base-unit items and my Stormy Eyed is at 9.
So right now all I'm doing is farming echoes for the overgoat, scraps for the "something secret" (I have 1,890 right now), playing the ocasional opportunity card, and working on my plant.

That would be something like you see over here. Something you have an no one else does. I have 20 bottles of Fourth City Airag, the most I've seen, and no intention of stopping collection of them anytime soon. I also enjoy seeing just how high my Pocketful of Loose Change can go, currently at 18. Just something fun you can work on and have a truly unique mantle piece.

Except Experienced Zailor, which has the benefit of making your Zee travels much faster with the appropriate card.

If you do all that and are still bored, you can always raise your Hellfarer and Empire's Kingmaker higher. I think 35 is the highest anyone has their Hellfarer right now, so that is something to strive towards. Then there are dreams, each of which should be around 20 except for Water. You can also bump up your Stormy Eyed past 20 and, depending on your Ambition, you can always try to get things like Tiny Cave Fish. I'd add something about Seeking the Name here as well, but I'm pretty sure you've already done that. I mention it for the sake of others. If you do all of that, then I will acknowledge that you have, indeed, "beaten the game." Except...
Then there is the elephant in the room: Hesperidean Cider. I am always hesitant to even mention this because it is, at least, a two year grind. More like three in most peoples' cases. I do not want to do anything which discourages people from playing Fallen London. I feel it is an excellent game and I don't want to read somewhere that someone found it too much like work or an insufferable grind because they were trying so hard to get this, they became disenfranchised and gave up. And yet, there it is, sitting all by it's lonesome in the Bazaar, taunting you with it's rarity and promise of immortality. It is there and you don't have one. The game is unbeaten until you do. edited by Nigel Overstreet on 8/28/2012

At the risk of derailing this thread even further - is it actually possible to raise one's Hellfarer? I know how to increase Kingmaker, but Hellfarer? Was there some content release (or rejiggering) that I missed?
Oh, while I'm at it, I might as well use this post to track my Stats of Some Importance.
Have you EVERY house? - Yes, all those that can still be obtained. That is, all of them except for the Knife-and-Candle mansion. All PoSI items? - Yes, including a Zubmarine. I do not have a Constant Companion, but that was an intentional choice. Is your equipment maxed? - Mostly, I had to sell some stuff. Have you an Overgoat? - Yes. How high is your Master Thief? - Not high enough. It's at Unseen. So not quite there. How high are your Newspaper Accomplishments? - Not high enough. Truthful at 4, others at 0. How high is your Experienced Zailor? - At the description cap. (A Zee-Voyager of Note) How high is your the Boatman's Opponent? - 17 (An Enthusiastic Player) Have you maxed out all your Quirks? - Partially. Subtle 12, Heartless 1, Magnanimous 24, Hedonist 13, Daring 7, Austere 8, Ruthless 2, Melancholy 4, Steadfast 12. Have you maxed out all of your Connections? To at least 150? - 5/16. Revolutionaries: 501, Society: 360, Constables: 254, Church: 223, Bohemian: 191, Summerset: 113, Benthic: 112, Tomb-Colonies: 54, Duchess: 49, Great Game: 49, Docks: 48, Rubbery Men: 46, Urchins: 45, Hell: 29, Criminals: 21, Orient: 21, Masters: 4, . Did you get the Consonant Violin? Iron Republic Journal? Anarchist's Sabel? Neddy Jacket? Bifurcated Owl? Clothes Colony? Unfinished Hat? - Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. I also have both top-tier Raven Advisors. Do you have a Rare Pet? A Bat with Attitude? - Yes on both (I have a Haunted-Looking Dog) How high is your Connected: Masters? - 4. So nowhere near the cap. Does your mantelpiece display and singular item and a singular accomplishment? - Yes, I believe. (False Lead and Connected: Revolutionaries 300) Have you every item in the game including things like Primeval Hints, Trembling Amber and Unusual Love Stories? - Yes, except for mid-tier equipment. How many Fourth City Airags do you have? - 1, so far. How many Cryptobotanical Rosettes do you have? - 0; I could never get beyond the Contest of Blood. Stupid plant. edited by Cedric Appleby on 3/23/2013 edited by Cedric Appleby on 8/21/2013
