I reached about 6000 echoes while trying to get an overgoat... then decided to blow it all on getting one of every piece of equipment from the bazaar (Minus the goat). Set me back a bit, but on the plus side I'm now prepared to juggle my stats as I see fit, and fulfill any item requirements I may come across.

I too just accomplished this! Internet high five?

If I sold absolutely everything I'd have enough for an Overgoat. But that would be sad and leave me with the most absurd collection of unsellable things.

I was able to get the first thing of Hesperidean Cider via donating to The Silver Tree... Literally on the day I came back to Fallen London after not playing the game for over half a year.

Quite amazing timing, no?

Many thanks for listing me! I've been at this game for over two years now, so one would hope that my lodgings would be comfortable and well appointed.

I got a two Haunted-looking dog, One on my main account and another in my sub account. Not sure what to make of it, but it sure is lovely. Especially the one on main account, it'll going to help a lot getting to PoSI faster.

update - Strange. Every cat-fearing hounds of neath must consider me as their counterpart to Duchess, because now I have three Haunted-looking hounds. Sure, they are all separated in different accounts, but it's still interesting.

Though, now that he have a rare pet, I can't just discard him.

Drat. You should have Echoed this accomplishment! Though if you do get "An unmatched circulation" not only will you be the first bloke to get all three Newspaper Accomplishments maxed, you will be the second person in the game to max the Prophet of the Gutter.
Probably. I guess it's possible someone else did it, but if they did they are playing it really close to the chest so it's like they haven't.

The difficulty with such achievements is their tendency to arrive well after sensible people are in bed, which means I tend to forget to echo them. I've replaced "How high does this go?" with "The only source of truth" on my scrapbook though. It will be a while yet for prophet of the gutter; That quality is currently 5, which is halfway there - but in another much more important way is just over 1/4 of the way there. I'm also hampered by my unwillingness to focus on this single goal and miss all those connection-raising opportunities! Still, I will hit it eventually - I hope then to be promoted from Press Baron to Press Viscount. Or maybe the Earl of Ink.

I am now the proud owner of 1007 certifiable scraps! I don't know if that's particularly noteworthy, but I do feel like I've been saving them forever, so getting over a thousand feels like an achievement to me at any rate! smile

It is an achievement--I've never had so many! In fact, I'm not sure I'd have so many if I'd saved every one I've ever received. :-(

Maybe you'll ultimately get one of the 3200 scrap rewards! Good luck.

I do have to wonder that two of the longest-term goals currently in the game are scraps and a goat. I know where I grew up, the people with yards full of junk and a goat were not the well-to-do or powerful. Or perhaps I should re-evaluate my presumptions about them...

I recently decided to bite the bullet and convert my 172 Tales of Terror! (I had intended to get a full two hundred, but I grew bored.) to however many Coruscating Soul I could, which happened to be 12 (slightly less than a 7% success rate). While I do indeed believe this to be uncommonly good fortune, at least according to what others have posted, my new goal is to get forty Coruscating Souls and then sell 38 of them for an Overgoat.

--
News in the Neath: Noted citizen of Fallen London, Abraham Bounty, has acquired six hundred and sixty six souls. Additionally rumour has it that the lion's share of those souls was from a theft of The Brass Embasy itself. We are quite certain that this portents nothing ominous for him. Well, nothing unusually ominous anyway.

I'm Overgoated (Overgoatten? Overget?)!

Um, this is quite embarrassing, but I would have reached this point months ago... only I'd always thought that the Overgoat cost 117120 echoes. It's only thanks to Abraham Bounty's post above that I realized my mistake.

And to think that I'd been grinding halfheartedly, occasionally blowing my savings on high-end equipment just for the hell of it... All the while wondering how everyone else had managed it. Oh well.

I too have now bought a goat. Especial thanks to Mr. Spices for that bottle of expensive alcohol at the end of my item conversions, which helped tip me over the threshold.

However, I still think it's a lesser achievement than receiving a free bottle of honeyed laudanum from the shops at the Labyrinth of Tigers, which happened last summer.

I'm not complaining. smile
