How to check if an item is equipped

Hi,
I have a slot for weapons, some weapons that I can equip and which change various stats. Everything is fine.
Now, I want to be able to sell the weapon. I need to check if the weapon is equipped before allowing to sell it. Otherwise, I run into a situation where I can sell the weapon and still keep the bonus attributed to it from when I use it.
I couldn;t find any way to do that in the manual...

But the bug seems to be still here.
