Anyone with the profession of Author willing to accept an invite to come speak at my Salon?
-- Social Actions: send them to Kade Carrion (she/her; no Tournament of Lilies, please). an_ocelot has gone NORTH and cannot benefit from social actions!

I look forward to the day you can invite Correspondents to salons. Your guests will not longer have to go so lamentably bereft of flaming hair, ocular bleeding, and complete and utter bloody madness. They'll be talking about that party for weeks! And also running away very quickly when they see you coming down the street.
In all seriousness, though, do you think they're going to upgrade these sort of options for the new professions? With these new schemes I've been hearing about, perhaps?

I am pleased to announce my upcoming book tour. I will read from my recent best seller, "How the Whoremonger's Daughter Came to be an Artist's Model and other Tales of Monumental Debauchery Told in Arcane Verse." edited by Mizadil on 12/30/2015

Hi! I've just become an author too I'm holding back from becoming a POSI as I don't want to get kicked out of court just yet (!) so I probably won't get a job as a correspondent quite so soon Out of curiosity, why is the Court keeping you from becoming a POSI? Getting kicked out of court is a matter of progression in Making Your Name, and Carving out a Reputation at Court, which is a whole separate monster. I'm a POSI and am still in Her Majesty's good graces, and no doubt there have people people who've managed to get the boot long before Important Personhood. edited by Siankan on 2/20/2017

Hi Siankan, thank you for the clarification! I had this misconception I needed to get kicked out of court as a prerequisite, but I've done closer reading and discovered that's not the case! You've saved me from quite a lot of confusion

I am an Author, and would be welcome to free food as is the Bohemian tradition.

I should be happy to speak at public or indeed private, engagements. My current work is the tale of a torrid and doomed affair between the Face and the Teeth... You'll never see the Shrine of Saint Joshua again and those stains will never come out... I fancy it is at least entertaining.

A captive audience you say? I'll be sure to bring my latest batch of mycological poetry, as well as my treatise on the mating habits of sorrow spiders. Riveting stuff if I do say so myself.

Malthaussen is a newly-fledged Author and would be more than happy to share the richness of his spirit, especially for free spirits. I have as yet no salon of my own, but when I do, I will be certain to invite as many of you as is practicable.
As of 2 January 2016, I am no longer an Author, having ascended to Correspondent. Thanks for all the invitations!

Yeah, for clarity's sake I am also an author trying not to be, though unless I have an extraordinary run of luck I will be available for salons for at least another week. (And don't worry, I will edit my posts in this thread the minute I cease to be.)
EDIT: Made it! Thanks to those who invited me to their salons!
I am finding myself amused at the image of huge swathes of London's celebrated authors spending their days and nights in constant rounds of private dinners with one another. I would love to hear what the gossips think we're up to. edited by Locrian on 11/26/2013 edited by Locrian on 11/27/2013

I think it's a very writerly thing to do. I mean, you know writers.
Of course, we're obviously all in the midst of a conspiracy. Plotting it piece by piece over dinner.
We're also remarkably well-fed.

I am now a Correspondent, and no longer able to accept invitations as an Author. (Or so I believe.)
