Should 70 be enough? Probably. I only spent 56 supplies on my expedition to the Cave, and 70 would let you get the necessary 60 progress with some extra supplies you can spend to slow down your rivals.
Still, since it's all-or-nothing, I wouldn't start the expedition without the full 100 unless you're an impatient gambler. You could perhaps risk it with 80, if you have a high enough Watchful (say, 210+) and enough Second Chances that you don't have a meaningful chance of failure at the 3 progress/action option, but there's really no reason to take the risk--it's not like you lose any supplies you have left over.
BTW, when did playing chess start only giving out 1 or 2 Sudden Insights instead of 2 or 3? Given how much the last big change devalued second chances, I'm a little surprised at a change to make getting them even costlier.

Before the Forgotten Quarter received new content there was a storylet to get you started on the path to the Correspondence Stones. I suspect there's something similar for getting your first point in Archaeologist, but if not I would send in a bug report.

Collect 10 supplies, and once you've done so, there should be an option in Set Out on an Expedition that costs whispered secrets, cryptic clues, and something else I can't remember at this point. It's not an expedition, and it will give you Archaeologist 1.

My advice would be to take at least 80-90. I had 70 and was left 2 points short of the prize. I will overshoot it to 80+ in case of worse luck. Also, rivals are very unpleasant in this one.

Of Note: I ran out of bottles of Broken Giant on this expedition. Admittedly, I only took one with me, but I could really have used another

What did you use those on? Delaying February is pointless as confronting her costs nothing and actually gives you progress.

Is the confrontation a special option, the one that only unlocks for certain values of .... that one attribute that changes every time you do something during the expedition?

Confrontation happens when you have 10 rival's progress~ it is not a "MUST" storylet like unpredictable treasure but it locks you out of any other option.

Finally got my 5th skull and the Ray Drenched Cinder, so it's business as normal until I get enough points with the Revolutionary. Thing is, it's been days since i saw one of his cards - I even have the Secular Missionary's package at my door and kept the card. Is one preventing the other from coming?

I got through the expedition my first try, it's genuinely not that bad if you come prepared.
Has anyone else gotten into the cave of the Nadir yet? I got there a few days ago. It's quite... Nasty. Reminds me of the Iron Republic. I like it, though. Anyone have any thoughts about it?

I haven't seen a Revolutionary Firebrand card in a while on my alt either. Same with the Face Tailor conclusion. The cards seem to have disappeared, though perhaps the Firebrand is simply rare now. I last got a Firebrand card on the 30th of June.
I've been there! It's an eerie but interesting place. Got some nice loot, and I'm looking forward to my next trip. edited by Sara Hysaro on 7/13/2013

What *is* the concluding card on the Face Tailor story, and what does it look like? I haven't seen a card on that storyline in what seems like months.

There's a few of them (depends on your actions), but the one I haven't seen is this.
