"The Waste Land" is a famous, seminal poem by T.S. Eliot that I read this summer (if you're so inclined, you can read it at http://www.bartleby.com/201/1.html)
Imagine my surprise when I noticed that the five sections of the poem were entitled "The Burial of the Dead," "A Game of Chess," "The Fire Sermon," "Death by Water," and "What the Thunder Said."
There are some fun lines in the poem that seem, well, very slightly coincidental to the world of Fallen London, and my favorite of this is:
"Who are those hooded hordes swarming Over endless plains, stumbling in cracked earth Ringed by the flat horizon only
What is the city over the mountains Cracks and reforms and bursts in the violet air Falling towers Jerusalem Athens Alexandria Vienna London" -(lines 366-375)
Hmm... falling towers in five cities? And what's the fifth?
