Out of curiosity, and pardon me if the answer seems obvious, but where/how do I find/receive a Scholar Of The Correspondence 1? I have tried the University to no avail.....

You need to do some hands-on archaeology of your own! Try the Forgotten Quarter.

If you progress through the storylets in the forgotten quarter, you should get it eventually. The plot of that area gives you the quality at the end.
