Enemy despawn conditions and spawn caps

1) Do enemies ever despawn, and if so, under what conditions? I've just been avoid chorister swarms around Titania and they seem to be accumulating.
2) What's the upper limit to the number of enemies that can simultaneously exist in a single region?
