Nope, not at this time of writing. Nothing to be gained from Storm-Birds. No duplication options either.

That said, people, I have read the fluff text about the interactions with the Butcher. The Butcher, while skilled and experienced, is not really into killing animals to see what comes out of them.

The part with getting the Somnolent Hyena would make it clear that the Butcher doesn't like inflicting the killing blow on them and does not want to deal with dangerous animals.

So, no, I doubt that bringing a not-bird that can deep-freeze things or take things out of a person's mind would be something that he wants to cut up - much less anything from the Labyrinth.

I gave a certain device to the butcher - is there any way to undo this ?

Nope. The butcher is very happy, rather. Now he can make bones out of animals without having them killed.

Besides, your only loss is the option with the Surly Bats. The original option is much more convenient and more economical.

Otherwise, the replacements are more convenient than the original ones. (Take note that some of the original options still require other resources.)

That said, for anyone else, before you hand that device over, convert a lot of the Bats into Wings. (No, they don't die. The Butcher likes bats very much, and even the Surly ones like him.) I recommend doing this while waiting for certain cards to show up in Ealing Gardens; spend any surplus action points on getting the wings.

I'm going to catch one in the process of finding the Bear, but I'm going to need 500 Scrip to get the Butchery up to max capacity so I won't likely be able to see every option for a while. There are already two new sets of wings from the butcher already, but the other Parabolan birds can be butchered so maybe there's an option there.

I don't have Ealing, but considering even the fingerkings won't mess with a Storm-Bird I find it doubtful that will ever be a thing.

Alright, I have played enough to make a summary of the most valuable things that you might want at Ealing station:
  • Go there and go back: enable the options to raise Mithridacy cap.
  • Honey Bear carousel: enable options that Increase Dangerous cap.
  • All Development levels: This will enable sources for Osteology items that are not available otherwise, namely Bat Wings, Warbler Skeletons, Tails of Tomb-Lions and others. These all enable new options to jigger around with the qualities of the Skeleton.
  • Access to the shops: in particular, Brass Thistle for glove and clothing items that increase Bizarre, and Annings and Daughters which sell additional osteology parts like the Fossilized Forelimb (arm that increases Antiquity) and the kits to convert skeletons into Home Comfort items that modify BDR.
I strongly recommend doing the access to the shops thing first. In particular, you will want to be able to get things to raise your Bizarre level, if you do not have the means already. This will help you do the other things, like sell Viric Lizards to the Tentacled Entrepreneur to accumulate Rumours of the Upper River.

The other things... Meh.

Everybody talks about how much srip you need. But my main problem with Ealing was and is Rumours of the Upper River. You need 60 for Mithridacy studies 1-2.

You can do this by getting your Bizarre up to 15. Some of the items in the Brass Thistle Shop raises your Bizarrre, and the recently implemented Tailors' Club raises Bizarre. Combined with other things you have, they might be able to give your character 15 Bizarre - enough to meet the Tentacled Entrepreneur and use its storylet to get the Rumours.

You will need a lot of Viric Lizards, but you don't need to wait for cards. By the way, the Tailors' Club card also has an option that can give a Rumour, so you can use that card while waiting for your Action points to reaccumulate.

Now, of course, you will need to have accumulated a stockpile of the possessed lizards, and you probably need to have a high-end character already.

If you haven't neither, well, you can just sit in Ealing and wait for the Liberating Eating Gardens card, then go back to London, wait for the Tailors' Club card, and back again to double the cards you have. Rinse and repeat.

You'd probably get a lot just from graduating visionary students while working on some serious projects - like an Impossible Theorem.

True, I've already got around 21 (bordering on 22) from graduating visionaries, and I haven't been doing any long projects.

Stupid question, but still: you do lose the Contrarian's Lantern if you build Watchtower with it, right?

I'm not 100% sure, but I doubt it. The general pattern with the newer content (Parabolan defenses, Lab equipment, joining the Clay Tailor) is that there's a "normal" path which is expensive, and "exclusive" items let you skip part of the cost without consuming the item. The Lantern is basically irreplaceable, I wouldn't expect to give that up permanently just to save a few beetles.

On the other hand, most cases like that explicitly say so in the bold-text, so that's a bit surprising.

On the other-other hand, I sure didn't lose my False-Star when I used it to light my watchtower.

Fluff-wise your False-star is rather difficult to take from the roof AND shines bright enough to be collected with mirrors, while the Lantern, logically, must be placed there physically.
If all else fails, I have a surplus of scarabs anyway, but this choice would be more interesting.

Guess I'll ask support to clarify it then.

Someone used Boatman's Lantern, as I recall - was it consumed?

I seldom graduate any of them, I just keep them around and grind the Cora card.

Judging from all the mess, I guess it will be easier to grind rumors with the student, making some hoards in the process, rather than anything else.

Кощей, you've built the Watchtower с Жар-птицей - did you keep it afterwards?

I overcapped my Persuasive to 206 somehow. I’m not sure what I did exactly, but the options that used to lock if you had acquaintance with the house are gone and you can get the first level of it from them.

Raising the Persuasive cap to 206 happened when you built the Ealing Gardens station.

Now, to Helicon House!

I'm in a similar boat with Rumours. I've been working on growing my plant so that I can create Warbler-Hydras with 7 heads of John the Baptist, but i'm still on Level 13 of Attending so that will take a while.

On the subject of Rumours, there's a new option on the Evening at Sophia's card that I think unlocks with building a station. You need to spend 5 Rumours of the Upper River, and I got 1500 Rostygold, 5 Jet-Black Stingers and a number of Esteemable Trophies that I can't remember on success. I'm sorry that I didn't add it to the wiki, I'm just kind of intimidated by the editing process. I'm also not sure if there's a range to any part of the success.

Oh, I never noticed! I still haven’t found more about the house yet. I’ve been flipping cards for it too.
