The Festival nominally ends on the 22nd, but the Eggs stick around til the 25th. Can we get confirmation on which actions will still be available from the 22nd-25th and which will become unavailable?

My guess is that anything not in a Silver-bordered storylet will stick around. E.g. uses in the Lab and Bone Market. But obtaining, augmenting, and incubating eggs will be gone. Will be still be able to crack them? Will the Apicius Club stick around?

I just wanted to express how much I'm enjoying the new festival. There's so much to do! Laboratory experiments, augmentations, the Finishing School, De Gustibus, the Bone Market, hearing rumours from the Charcutier (surely the future Mr Eggs, Master of the Bazaar?), newspaper publishing, egg-smashing for fun and profit, etc. The artwork for the new companions is stupendous, and I also particularly like how several of them open up new Opportunities in various places when you have them. It's a bit like the Exceptional Stories that add a new permanent opportunity card, a new option to an existing card, or open up a new area to explore -- it makes them much more memorable in the long run.

And the social egg-sending action is a nice touch -- even without spending Fate, everyone can, if they wish, trade a few eggs with their fellow Londoners.

The Wiki entry for Begin a Scientific Investigation lists 2 investigations for Whitsun, when there are, in fact, at least 3. You can also investigate the Highly Illegal Device. I realize they don't post results and details for Fate-locked options, but they usually at least list them.

Then again, since you can get one as a gift, does it still count as Fate-locked for posting purposes, since the owner may not have spent Fate? Also, if you save your pennies for next year, you could get the device without ANYONE spending Fate.

In any case, I have the details if it is allowed to post, but I am not Wiki-edit-savvy. Nor am I certain it would be allowed, for the above reasons. But the mere existence should at least be mentioned there, shouldn't it?

Thank you, James. You said it so well as usual. I've been pleasantly surprised by how rich this festival is - there's plenty to do and discover. I love how it's a long enough time to do everything you want (with Fate) yet it's short enough to be over soon and not be a drag. I also like that they say it will recur and there's no real rush to catch 'em all (although I'm in the midst of doing just that!).

I believe it should count as fate-locked for now (same as FotR companions you got with masquerading bought with gifts sent to you by somebody else who spent the fate), and only unlock when it's possible with saved free coins.

Yes: you can now sell untreated eggs to two of the buyers.

Do you have a screenshot for that third option? Also Wiki policy as far as I understand it is that as long as someone has to pay Fate for it it is out, so if we get another 3 pennies next year the options will probably be added because then you can get it without Fate

I didn't take a screenshot, but I copy/pasted the text and graphics from the Assess Your Progress regarding the Highly Illegal Device screen and the subsequent results screen. I will take screenies of all parts for you my next time through, Asarta.

And thanks to all who responded for your wise guidance!

Usually the wiki only lists indirectly Fate-locked options if visible even without the Fate-related unlock. Is the Highly Illegal Device research visible without one in your possession?

If we get more coins next year so that the Device can be obtained for free, the wiki will of course add all the related options.

It occurs to me to ask a question. Do the Ha'pennies stick around after Whitsun if you don't spend all of them during the festival?

I can't answer that, I'm afraid. I only got my lab set up after I had the Device.

And Asarta, I have a complete set of screenshots of it now.
The Rewards seem to be identical to researching the Aged Egg, except for the item received. In other words, the Attribute gain and Speculation gain seem identical.
What was the title for the begin and end option? just Investigate a Highly Illegal Device (probably), and Finish your study of a Highly Illegal Device (probably)?

I can't find this info anywhere so I'll just ask.

Whitsun "concludes" on the 22nd, but eggs will be removed on the 25th. Does that mean that I will be able to run hatching cycles on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th? And will I be able to upgrade the eggs before doing so? This would go in line with some previous events, wherein there is a period for wrapping up or doing last-minute redemptions or so. Then again, I seemed to misunderstand the timing last Hallowmas and lost the opportunity of doing some companion upgrading.

I've been wondering about that as well. What options, exactly, disappear on Friday, and what stays?

I also want to know this.
Furthermore, will speculation about whitsun just disappear on the 22nd, or will there be a cashout option?
