I don't agree with the comments that too much stuff costs fate. The only truly fate-locked things are 4 companions and and a repeatable experiment in the lab. Non-paying players get 10-11 new companions, most of them with unique effects, and the ability to choose between one of four great gears (each BiS in their own right) or permanently hiring the Numismatrix. Compared to the Feast of the Exceptional Rose this isn't exactly whale-o-clock.
People will always complain that they didn't get enough free stuff.

The clothing items are also fate-locked.

You’re given enough pennies to get one of the clothing items not for fate.

Yes, one out of four. I was merely correcting your record for saying that "the only truly fate-locked things are 4 companions and a repeatable experiment in the lab," as three of four are clearly fate-locked your statement needed a little correction. Hate me for it if you like, I really don't care.

...I’ve become the Mother of (Rubbery) Dragons!

...I am going to send a bouquet of lizards to the Royal Beth. Both as a reconciliation gift and revenge.

...I will probably be sent there myself if I see the word "egg" one more time.

Does anybody else who came across a device, not illegal(probably) able to see the connection with light and a certain machine. If you’ve been burnt. You’ll understand the implications of whitsun being added means

I have the device. it does not seem to be related to the Dawn Machine except for the fact that both are products of the Red Science. The device appears to be an experiment to imbue vitality using the Red Science.

Ignacious, the Fluid Professor, he will accept most social invitations, including boxed cats and affluent photographers (but only betrayals), though he is absent-minded and might take more time than entirely necessary. He apologizes.

Is not the Dawn Machine also an attempt to imbue something non-living with vitality? Clockwork, not just with locomotion, but motivation.

I tried to publish some seasonal gibberish for the Newspaper, but at the last minute I received a tip that has thoroughly shook me. Collectors, rejoice:

I have to say, this event is pretty great. The main mechanic is just alright, but seeing the little interactions peppered everywhere really brings it to life and gives something for everyone.

Yes, for all my previous criticism I do agree. It's not especially rewarding from a mechanical perspective (unless you spend a heap of Fate), but thematically it's a riot.

Dang, I just got 4 Blackmail Material and a Cellar of WIne as well as the Vital Intelligence. Maybe my Speculation about Whitsun needs to be higher? I think it was around 10 before I started the long wait for my next egg and embarked on researching an Impossible Theorem in the lab.

Not rewarding? BiS BDR boots for free (or tied BiS BDR Clothing). Free pets with actual uses in different places (salon, orphanage, parabola, heist, etc). Ways to raise Red Science and Shapeling Arts. Return of Sealed book, Gilded crab and Monster Orb for collectors. Easy and profitable way to grind MW for those who is trying to jump on old Paramaunt Presence. And bunch of sweet Fate rewards.

Thanks everyone for your enthusiasm regarding Whitsun! It's been a few years since this many people have been playing Fallen London every day, and we're so happy to have you all!

Thank you for your feedback and especially your bug reports, which have saved many players from being eggless and sad. We've made some fixes and improvements for this year's event which hopefully have made it smoother: you can smash eggs now, while you're waiting for one to hatch; Ha'pennies are a different colour in their icon; and Whitsun is now a category in your inventory.

Whitsun is brand new, and as such we don't expect most players to get everything from the festival this year. We've learned a lot from our other festivals that have been running for many years about setting up a new one, and we built Whitsun to be a festival that would recur, with relatively minor additions and changes each year. We anticipate that 90% of the rewards this year will also be available next year (specifically we don’t foresee changing the non-social egg rewards), and anything bought with Ha'pennies this year will be retained, including the machine. Given all of this, we aren't going to give out any more Ha'pennies this year.

Once the festival has completed, we'll review all of our data and make notes for next year. This will include emails to feedback@failbettergames.com, but also quantitative information from the game. We know a couple of things that will be adjusted for next year, already: this year there's a bit of a Paramount Presence race happening which we accounted for in parts of the festival, and the return of De Gustibus felt like it required a permanent trade-in point. New things will also be added. Hopefully, we'll continue to surprise and delight with this event as it develops.

Thank you again, delicious friends! (Eggs.)

I'll admit that I had my concerns about "another p2w festival" at the start, but if the majority of the rewards are available year after year, then, since ha'pennies can be carried over, this is actually shaping up to be even more generous and far less pay-to-win than the FotR.
I'm very glad that this avoided another Hallowmas situation (i.e. Fate-locking unique rewards that will not be available ever again, forcing players to give up on them or pay up NOW), but it's even better if long-term players have the option to collect most rewards for free (albeit slowly). A good monetisation scheme while rewarding truly loyal players who stick around for years. Thank you!

Thank you for the update, Hannah! I appreciate the communication.

I'm OK with the idea that top-tier players can't get everything the first time through. Slightly disappointed because SHINY, but I totally get the reasoning. I'm glad I'll have something to look forward to next year regardless of whether there's new content or not.

I have some reservations with the balance. It will take 6 years to get all of the Ha'penny-locked rewards, and I'm seriously considering getting none this year to save up for a Device next year. I'm still on board with the over-all strategy, though. And those Shapeling boots...

It was either 11, or a very high 10, so I expect it's a rare success rather than an entirely different option.
