Get an army of assassins, pile them into the same room as the costermonger army, see how long it takes the assassins to snap from hearing TASTY AS YER BIRTHDAY over and over again

Ways 2 Get Masquing: A Novella in One Part
Rare successes: Mr Heart's Devilled Hearts: 2 points, unsure of cap Wheel of Adoration: 1 point, up to 10 Dancing: 3 points, unsure of cap
Gift Tradeins: 1 point: Gift of scorn (from Wheel of Adoration failure), glass of teeth, singed card (all cap at 26) 2 points: Gift of adoration (From intimate of devils or last year, cap 26), chesspiece (cap 27), painted cat (cap 28) 3 points: Watchful doll (28), Rose-bearing Maggot (28) 10 points: Gift of Devotion (from last year, idk cap)
For fate locked items besides the 5 fate items, the amount of fate = the amount of masquing provided at trade in. They also have no cap on the amount of masquing needed.
At the Encounter at the Feast card, you can trade masquing in for pets. They cost 3, 10, 40, 80 or 100 Masquing, so without fate the only ones you're likely to achieve are the 3 and 10 ones. Some others have other requirements, but they're mostly minor. There's two pets for each tier of Masquing costs, for a total of ten. Even though the Bazaar said eight. edited by Spacemarine9 on 2/15/2013

This goes without saying, but beware anyone who just came on the board shouting out "Let's exchange Fate!"
There are no small number of people who will gladly take your money, give you nothing in return and congratulate themselves on such a clever "troll." If it's someone you trust, or has a lot of reputation to loose in Fallen London(Nathan Attford, imeja, Urthdigger) then by all means. Heck, I've got some Nex to exchange too. There is very little Fail Better can do about such underhanded miscreants, so make sure you're wearing your hat of incredulity when dealing with strangers; no matter how much they profess a love of Victorian storytelling games.

Did anyone send the devs any Feast gifts, by the way? At first I thought it seemed somewhat strange, but after learning that Spacemarine9 apparently floods Mr Kennedy's inbox with dead rats every chance she gets, I decided to send him a glass of teeth. He accepted it a few days later, but there was no further reaction as far as I could tell.
Now that I think of it, I really should have taken the chance to send Mr Eaten a gift. Wouldn't that have been interesting.
I sent Mr Eaten a Pink Painted cat this morning. I doubt he'll ever accept it, but it's the thought that counts.

I have finally drawn the necessary card (took it long enough...and then it came up twice in one day. Go figure) and am now accompanied by a rather charming green eyed fellow. I do hope I will be able to make him a more constant companion, and even moreso hope he will either not notice or overlook the rather ragged state my soul has achieved since our last encounter...

Part of me is going to be glad when this is over. I enjoyed the flavor as always, and the new companions and items are interesting (Although I couldn't afford to get the fate-locked ones, including higher companions), but this does have to be the grindiest event I've seen yet. It'll be nice to be able to do other things in London.

You know the event's a grind when your Persuasive goes from 130 to 150 before it's even halfway through.

I've enjoyed the event and really the only reason I kinda want it to end is so I can set sail without fear that I'll miss out on something back in London. Then again I haven't been attempting to get the higher level petpanions because other than the Quiet Devilless (who's too far out of range for me to attempt to get) I'm not really interested in any of the +10 ones and so I haven't had a stressful time chasing rare successes.

Even if you had a whole 20 of actions stored, you would get one or two successes more on them, than without it. Maybe. If your luck is average. You definitely would not be able to notice that change, even if you looked for it.

I'm thinking about trying to get the Irresistible Lady using the method(s) people will have to when the Feast is over. Mostly because I'm not going to be committing to her, and just want the +4 Persuasive boost in my pet slot. XD So it's no big deal if it takes a while or is difficult. If the card sticks around after the Feast is over I'm sure you can do it. =D edited by Sara Hysaro on 2/26/2013

Later, when you are alone, the Quiet Deviless takes your hand, and kisses your cheek. Her lips are dry and very hot; they feel like branding-irons pressed to your skin might feel, but there is no pain. I think for me it started with the mysteries about the silence that her quietness emphasized, the vivid imagery of her storylets, and the odd blend of affection and danger in her interactions. Her stories are a perfect example of less is more as far as seduction (of whatever stripe), most of the others seem too blunt and too mercenary to pull me in. I ended up losing my soul playing the odds with her again and again... and now that I've regained it I'll probably get pulled back in. OTOH I'm pretty sure my partner just likes her because she's kinky. :P

What am I supposed to be doing?" because I seriously couldn't recall! (Fortunately, the Progress category was able to vaguely steer me in the right direction to completing...whatever the heck I was doing two weeks back...) I was in The Zone during the Feast, all caught up in gathering Masquing and plotting escapes from the Tomb Colonies. I could hardly remember what life was like before all the scandalous exotic dancing introduced itself.
Dolan wrote:
Plus, she was a challenging character in that she was very much the opposite of the cliche succubus-style temptress. She was emotionally vulnerable, unsure of herself, needed emotional support, and, well, quiet. All the time she was after your soul too, but it's clear there was some sort of actual connection between your character and the Quiet Deviless (assuming you followed that storyline). Agreed! She did the difficult work of mustering up the courage to open and display private and important parts of herself to me with the risk of my hurtful rejection. My character never reciprocated such actions. Yes, I was kind and attentive to her when the options presented themselves, but I had no intention of ever handing her my soul -- oddly enough, that seemed to be the only option to "open up". I sometimes wonder if her behavior was just an act, a clever strategy, to win me over. I also wonder if she truly felt she was doing me a great favor by offering to take my soul. I didn't believe the Abstraction benefits that were touted, but did she believe it? Either way, I look forward to future content having to do with the Quiet Deviless and the loss/gain of souls.
Overall, I really enjoyed the Feast! I mostly felt worry during the Feast since I was desperately trying to obtain enough Masquing for the Quiet Deviless (failed at 72), but the material and narrative(!) rewards that I gathered were more than adequate compensation for any emotional distress. My favorite part was the Wash of Sunlight storylet. It was a wonderfully entertaining read, and I'm sure I'll be pondering certain sections for months to come. As a side note, I think I've collected most or all of the various result text for "...a wash of sunlight?". If anyone's interested in checking to see if I've got everything or just wanting to read, please PM me.

Consider that it is a una tantum effect, you can only do it once. By the way, does that Acquaintance: Captivating Princess activate any other storylet/opportunity card?
Also, I just got my Presbyterate Diplomat and I am keeping my 12 Masquing for an Affable Spy, but I was wondering if the "Joke with His Amused Lordship" option in the "Duchess' Banquet" at the Palace is worth trying. Does it use up all the 11 Masquing, or is that only a prerequisite?
I'm pretty sure it's only a prerequisite. Succeeding doesn't use it up at least. ^^ And I haven't seen anything to put that Acquaintance to use yet. Maybe in some upcoming Feast content? edited by Sara Hysaro on 2/20/2013

The RNG is being capricious again, I think. I just pulled her on one of my accounts, so she still exists! She just never seems to come around when you have stuff you desperately want to trade.
