Is anyone actually going to spare the Chess Veils or the 3rd City Veils? I'm waiting to make my choice until I have a better idea what the others give but I'm starting to suspect I'd have to wait months for the others to finally show.

If I ever get there I might spare the Third City Veils. I hate Veils too much to merely kill him, and the whole mess with Eaten is a large part of why.

Thanks for the heads up, I was out biking this morning but I just got my Vake-Steed and the preview for future FL content! I did indeed get it normally from Lodgings, it might be because I live in an odd timezone so the story fired a little while after I'd had breakfast and left the house.

The "bounty" for killing the Vake in its entirety is considered an Affiliation.
Sparing Surface Veils also gives an Affiliation, but I don't know what kind.h

Expertise is created by recruiting Lettice, the Mercy to your lab (via the staffing option) and choosing her card when it comes up. (research in London, not Parabola). You'll need 5 Tomb-Colonies favors to recruit her, though.
As for me, I killed Surface Veils and I'm in the middle of a hunt right now against Curator Veils. I plan to capture and make 3rd city Veils my pet. Anyone interested in the stats?

I'm considering sparing all three Veils aspects just for the sake of seeing a different ending. Has anyone already done that? Or any info about sparing Surface Veils or Third City Veils?

You can't spare all three of them; you can only spare the last one you hunt ASSUMING you did not insist on killing of the Vakes when a storylet asks for you to consider sparing one of them.
Surface Veils requires a Favour in High Places, 60 Copper Cipher Rings, and a Stalemate from the Moonlit Chessboard. Given the difficulty of obtaining a Stalemate, this is likely the more difficult option, since Stalemates require both sides have the same score and enough luck with the "Player of Chess" skill check.
I don't remember too much about Third City Veils, but hunting it requires the Jaguar Blade, which must be forged in the Laboratory with 5 Ravenglass Knives, a significant amount of Third City Relics, and the help of Lettice the Mercy (5 Tomb Colonist Favours for those who do not have her as a Feast of the Exceptional Rose Companion). If you do not have a 5-Card Royal Bethlehem Lodging, you also have to spend an Impossible Theorem, which is made from 49 Searing Enigmas at least.
