One hour until the conclusion of Nemesis arrives. It's hard to anticipate how the ending of a story ten years in the making will be received, but we hope it meets at least some of your expectations!

Godspeed, Nemesis vanguard!

Oh, that priceless look my poor gullible friends give me when I say that Part 3 requires 77(7) Bats with Attitude... (evil chuckle)

It's been about seven-and-a-half years for me since I started this story, and now it's done.

Thank you so much, Failbetter. It's been a wild ride.

P.S. If anyone wants to know what happens if you refuse the final choice, you can read it here.

For clarity: you can't reset an Ambition you've finished. The relevant bit from the patch notes:

Lethean Tea-Leaves are purchased with Fate and allow you to reset your Ambition and choose a new one. However, they will only work before you have completed your ambition. Once you have finished your Ambition, the tea-leaves cannot be used to reset it.

We will reveal more about ways you can experience another Ambition in the future, but those plans are under wraps for now. We are also exploring the possibility of adding alternate uses for Lethean Tea-Leaves in some other upcoming content.

If you bought Lethean Tea-Leaves with Fate, and this development will mean they are no longer of use, please get in contact via a support email and we will look at reimbursing your Fate.

Separately, there are new stories afoot which will enable you to experience other Ambitions, after a fashion. More on that as we go!

I have killed a Master. I am not sure that I made the right choice. But I was committed. Now the deed is done. Should you wish to know the end of my indefatigable vengeance, you may look here.
Our lives are stories. Thank you Failbetter Games for a wonderful story.

It did. I feel quite privileged to have found some of the secrets I was searching for. But you can't unlearn what you have learned.

Six years after starting it, my Nemesis character has completed their Ambition (spoilers on the Profile). As the saying goes, revenge is a dish best served cold.

Considering what they just did, I guess continuing to live in a Bazaar Emporium is particularly bold. Big Grin Looking forward to seeing whether this deed will be referred to in any future dealings with the Masters.

No idea what to do with this character now, to be honest. It was created specifically for Ambition: Nemesis. Definitely very interested in the possibility of both a FINAL END and a NEW BEGINNING, as hinted in the announcement.
I have two more, even older, accounts for Light Fingers and Bag a Legend (I sent the Heart's Desire one NORTH years ago). I think I'll be tempted to put all of them to rest after reaching their respective Ambitions' ends and maybe start a completely new one for Heart's Desire. I do not remember much about the early game, and a lot must've changed since I first started playing more than nine years ago now.

Oh, and a salute to the folks at Failbetter: you delivered, and you did not disappoint. Finishing the Ambitions is a huge step and I'm very interested to see where you'll take the game next! smile

Rupho Schartenhauer has killed a Master, well: most of it.
Cortez the Killer has killed a Master, definitely.
Deepdelver has become the progenitor of London's brightest star. It's... complicated.
Dr. Kvirkvelia, gone NORTH on 23/12/1894.

Only a seventh and it increases your success chance too.

Cool cool cool. I wasn't looking forward to my usual bout of “The RNG Says BLEEP Youse”.

So it's dramatically better to do the cheaper knives. They're 50% cheaper to buy, meaning you'd expect a +30% for Ravenglass from the base 60% success rate, rather than the existing +10% bonus. Depending on how much the failure bonus percentage is, it might take 3 or more failures before the pricing evens out. Thanks!

777 blades of lower quality are actually cheaper.

Ah, the goat will have to wait for sure, unless your pockets are *really* deep. And to answer your question, mmh, not yet?

Wow, that was fantastic! Just as emotional, dramatic and full of lore as I could have hoped after such a long build-up! And very satisfying reward, too. Can't wait for everything next!

Has anyone received
the monthly reward yet? Do you have to draw cards in your lodgings until you get it, or is it like Time the Healer and appears obviously anywhere in London, or...? Since the explanation said it would come soon, I want to be sure I'm not missing it!
From the message my alt received from TtH, the counter is done by her.
This was probably a bug because my alt wasn't supposed to get this; "A Consequence of your Ambition – is now In three more weeks, you can collect a reward at your lodging"

Unfortunately, after not seeing the parliament of bats card for a week, I canceled my subscription I've had for years because I came to the realization this is not the kind of gameplay I enjoy. I was always here for the writing, but I know grinds have always been a part of the game as a form of pacing. I think this is completely fine (I completed Poet Laureate, SotC 21, SMEN, Paramount Presence, 40 renown in all factions, and so on, so my tolerance for long grinds isn't the issue here), but actually making ZERO measurable progress in over a month with no guarantee this won't go on for in the same manner for another year because a random number generator isn't landing on the right number is where I had to draw the line.

Yeah, thanks, but I own dozens in fact smile And I'm aware of flash lay resetting but it feels like meta gaming, unintended and exploity. Still used it a lot because I just want to enjoy the story and it's the only reasonable way, but I just need a break right now. There's something about this RNG gating that just really makes me lose patience due to its binary nature.

Has anyone compiled a list of items required at various stages - for instance what one will need for each place one's bat points to? I'd love to avoid all the running back and forth I've just done for one place ...
Bat-scouted places you can visit, you can do all four but only need three to progress, no additional item required:
 • A place of some confusion
 • The Mirror-Marches
 • Port Carnelian
 • The Mind of Long-Dead God

Everything below are located in or accessed from London:

 • Forceful 3 or 3 Personal Recommendation.
 • 250 Romantic Notion, or 500 Compromising Document, or Poet-Laureate 1
 • 3 Blackmail Material
 • 777 Skyglass Knives or 77 Ravenglass Knives (failure will cost 1/7 of the knives and improve the odd by 20%)
 • An unspecified number of Sulky Bats and/or Fairly Tame Sorrow-Spiders
 • Rattus Faber Bandit Chief, or Complaisant Frost Moth, or the complete set of tiger ministers from the Court of Wakeful Eye
 • 50 Memories of Light and 50 Memories of Distant Shores if you're a Glassman, 1 Searing Enigma if not
 • 1 Night-Whisper and 3 Antique Mysteries (optional, alternative is 100 CP stat loss of your choice if you're not a Glassman, no repercussion if you are)
 • 11 Antique Mysteries and 100 Ostentatious Diamonds (optional)
 • 2 Vital Intelligence (optional)
 • 1 Judgements' Egg (optional)

For the last three optional requirements, they each have a difficult-but-not-impossible stat check as an alternative. Success will let you progress for free, but failure will cost you 100 CP of a stat of your choice.
