Or so a bird told us poor souls. Can we get a tiny official confirmation here? It will count as a Christmas miracle!

Oh no, must I grind another? These things are not getting any cheaper.

Ugh, I hadn't thought of that. I should grind for another Theorem if the one I have gets used up.

I guess I will have to become a Glassman for a while then, when this comes up. Sigh. This means a Notability grind, doesn't it?

Since the Base Camp will apparently be part of an Ambition, maybe you won't have to be a Glassman. And the requirements might yet change completely.

"We may change a great deal about the Base Camp option. It's been hanging around for years, and what we want it to do now has little to do with what we planned for it then."

pleasure to meet you.

Has some ideas the Masters won't approve of like some items and establishing a Colony in Parabola.

I will accept most social interactions (not duping). I do enjoy role playing as well.
Have some possibly still active codes!

Is losing the Pelleglin in your eyes upon hitting Tier 4 a better AESTHETIC choice than keeping it? I mean, you'll be losing the Harpoon and getting a new Possession that's presumably +15/+15 to Watchful+Dangerous and either +1/+1 or +2 to your BDR.

I would assume that, if the requirements don't change, then at least the Ambition update will give you a way of obtaining them more easily. I believe there is precedent for this--doesn't one of the Ambitions that's not Light Fingers give you a super-expensive item early on and then take it back?

That said, I wouldn't expect it to be trivial. The later chapters are expensive, and I would expect that to continue.

To be clear, "advanced professions" almost certainly refers to the existing Tier 4 professions. Failbetter said a couple of weeks ago in a Q&A that they have no plans to add the next tier anytime soon.

Where was this Q&A? And what else did we learn if it’s not linkable?

I think that with the exception of the Dream Quality, everything else is grindable. I had managed to acquire 100 Direful Reflections even without Arbor, but now it should be even easier. Of course, a direct grind would be even more welcome; I don't expect the culmination of the Ambitions to be easy, but I doubt they would make it so that it would take a year to experience the new content.

I just realized that since all the Ambitions are pointing towards Parabola for the final chapter, chances are we'll all need a Parabolan Base Camp. Whaaaaa?

What we planned for it then was probably the next profession tier above Glassman. What we want it to do now is probably going to be tied to the Ambitions.

It would be cool if the exact requirements differed slightly for each Ambition though. And Glassmen should get a discount or something.

So when you get the Storylet the two options are a cheaper one for someone who owns a set of Cosmogene Spectacles and a more expensive option for people who don't have that.

Also once you get it the first time you don't need to get it again when you approach Parabola from a different angle (the other options rely on you not having the Parabolan Base Camp as an Item or Quality).

So that's three

All are catered to your current Ambition, an expensive one you get by having NO Cosmogene Spectacles, a cheaper option you get by having a Pair of Cosmogene Spectacles and finally once you have the Base Camp you can get in for free.

I do have a Theorem but at the moment I'm a correspondent not a Glassman. And I'm set on hunting Mr. Veils so I should really grind some Notability to be a monster hunter or somesuch instead but I ALSO want to have lots and lots of Bazaar tears for in case I end up deciding I want to try keeping a Nomen alive for the tattoo so ARGH

All in all, the announcement has set us grinding and planning again.
I sincerely hope the Camp opens up a new area with its own little storylets - the opportunity, however limited, to explore Parabola. I was a bit dissapointed by how the Dilmun club required extensive grinds and in the end only opened four brief options to trade favor for goods. Useful as these might be, they are not story.
Of course Parabola has been explored in many ES so I guess there is plenty of content to use, however I am sure that arranging it in a new zee-like area is no small feat. Fingers crossed we get something substantial!
