Calling off a chess game with an absent partner?

Hello all!
I recently tried to accept someone's invitation to a chess game, only to discover that I am evidently already in one. I attempted to call it off, but apparently I can't because the progress of the match is higher than 1. The person I'm in a match with appears to have left Fallen London entirely, so I can't get them to either proceed with it or cancel it.
Is there some way to get out of this frozen chess match?
