It’s Christmastime in the Neath—even the rats’ eyes have a certain festive glow.
So-called snow is falling in Fallen London!
Starting at noon GMT today, Time, the Healer will bring ‘snow’ to doorsteps across London. You’ll need to dig your door out, or find someone to lend a hand.
Fate can also be used to employ a certain cowled assistant – and earn unique seasonal Home Comfort items!
Acquiring pails of this ‘snow’ and learning what you can about it will unlock a selection of seasonal benefits at the end of the season, when Penstock’s Wicket opens on the 5th of January.
We expect this sort-of snow to stop falling on 6th January.
Gifts from the Masters
Owners of an Incarnadine Robe can receive tokens from the Masters.
Mr Iron and Mr Hearts have new, remarkable items available for those who already have their initial offerings.
To acquire a robe, accept the help of an unexpected volunteer to clear your path (this option costs Fate).
A ‘gift’ from Mr Sacks
The urchins have purloined the terrible sack of Mr Sacks once again! You may draw a gift from it (or send one to a friend) – for a price, of course.
Buy a lucky dip in Mr Sacks’ sack for yourself, or send a lucky dip draw to another player! Begin with Explore the Festive Season, available throughout London.
Seasonal Stories
On the 18th of December, a new festive premium story by Nigel Evans will become available for purchase: The Brass Grail.
Scandal in London as the Bishop of Southwark is summoned to court. Old sins weigh heavily upon the mitred head. Can one ever truly escape the shadow of Hell?
Our previous Christmas premium stories are now available for purchase from Explore the Festive Season.
Yet Further Festivities
There are still more goodies to be found in the Fallen London Advent Calendar! Each window is around for just a few days, so be certain to check back regularly to receive all of the various treats.
Look for Explore the Festive Season throughout London to take part in the seasonal fun!
Gifts of Fate!
The philanthropic Londoner remembers well that they can gift 50 or 100 Fate to other players.
Do this from your Lodgings, on the Give a Gift of Fate card, or when drawing the Give a Gift! A commotion in the Square of Lofty Words card from your deck.

Delightful citizens! The Crimson Beast of Winter is abroad! For the next twelve days, search your opportunity deck for exciting visits from Mr Sacks.
And additional news! On Day 4 a new "What's the Angle?" story is available, allowing you to conspire with a bold band of rats. Who knows – you may even acquire an unusual new companion...
(Note that this story requires you have at least 5 Renown: Criminals and costs a modest 12 Fate.)
Time the Healer no longer awards Potential Christmas Cards, but you may still send the ones you have until the 31st of December.
And finally: a merry Christmas to all our wonderful fans! Winter's chill reaches even to the Neath, and the false-stars are bright in the gloom above. Light a fire, toast a seasonal crumpet, and be merry!

This guy literally wrote the whole Iron Republic content in Fallen London.
I am going to buy this story.

Looking forward to this!
That bright dark blue font is incredibly hard to read though, for me at least. A subdued colour, like the one in quotes for example, would be much easier on the eyes IMO.

One of the questions in the original mysteries list was “Why are there no foxes in the city?”

Social invitations of all kinds welcome, especially games of chess and deadly sparring!
Also happy to help with nightmares, send sips of Cider, and plant battle.
During the first Mysteries one of the questions was something along the line of "Why are there no foxes in London?" The answer, allegedly divinable from the clues in the game, was that the rats had a deal with Mr Cups to have domain over scraps (which, in real life London, is what urban foxes are renowned for) and so the foxes were expelled to ensure said monopoly for the rats. Much has been said about the fact that no amount of trawling through the most obscure corners of the game ever did uncover evidence of this (and hence frustration at the impossible Mysteries questions; c.f. the key and constable question in the most recent Mysteries)
edited by genesis on 1/4/2020

The two newest fate items from the Incarnadine Robe have been echo'd in my profile.
Apples x2 is a home comfort that gives +3 watchful, +1 dreaded, Irons x2 is an affiliation that gives +1 dangerous, +1 dreaded, +1 bizarre, and +1 "A member of the Pen-Bearers", something akin to the Hallowmas affiliations I'm guessing. I really hope Virginia plays a role in this story. I’m kinda disappointed that the Jovial Contrarian didn’t have his own Mayoral story.

The Brass Grail? I am in! What devil do I bash in the head? Is Mayor Virginia to blame? Will the Deacon be involved?

Does anyone see the option to upgrade the Royal Bethlehem lodgings in Penstock's Wicket? It's missing for me.

Question for the Number Crunchers.
Given her living arrangements are all sorted, Caroline has been spending Lacre on Longboxes. Given recent changes to expeditions, is it more profitable to sell the Longboxes directly, or to swap them for Echos and Favors which are spent on Archaeology at the Tomb of the Silken Thread? edited by Lady Karnstein on 1/5/2020

Reading your comments, it seems something went a little bit wrong on FB's side.
I suggest everyone who's played all 12 cards and still can't see the Wicket, or see it but can't play it, emails support (maybe try a hard refresh first).
Not all of my characters have seen all 12 cards yet, but two of them did finish their 12 Days at the earliest opportunity, i.e. more than 24 hours ago now, and the Wicket was immediately there. I've already visited the Sundered Sea once.
The Wicket has always opened on the 5th or 6th. I think in the early years it opened the day after the Twelfth Day of Sacks (i.e. on the 6th), but at some point this was changed to an immediate unlock after playing the Day 12 card. Not sure exactly when that change happened.
It has always closed on Jan 31st.

In the hope that this is a better place to ask than the Christmas in the Neath thread:
Now that the Wicket is open, I'm confused about next steps. I've managed to accumulate enough lacre and pails to be able to upgrade to two 5-card lodgings (assuming I buy another 4 card lodging, which I can) and buy all three remote addresses. But I don't know if that's what I want to do, or even how to decide what I want to do.
Is there an advantage to having more than one 5-card lodging and more than one remote address?
For that matter, am I even asking this question in the right place? smile
There is no mechanical advantage to having more than one Remote Lodgings.
There is no mechanical advantage to having more than one 5-card Lodging, but having all three is one option for one step of Paramount Presence.
If you can already afford fancy lodgings, then there's not much value in saving Lacre for next year. Pick what you want to buy and buy it. You have time for most of your decisions (Wicket stays open for a few weeks). But if you want a Noman, I would move soon, because that gets more expensive over time. I would encourage you to get a Noman if it fits in your budget. It's... an experience.

Since this new story is available from the Explore the Festive Season story card, I assume it will also be available until 6 Jan, right? In other words, I can buy it after the 12 Days of Mr Sacks story is complete?
