Question for the Number Crunchers.
Given her living arrangements are all sorted, Caroline has been spending Lacre on Longboxes. Given recent changes to expeditions, is it more profitable to sell the Longboxes directly, or to swap them for Echos and Favors which are spent on Archaeology at the Tomb of the Silken Thread? edited by Lady Karnstein on 1/5/2020

Penstock's opening on the 5th is correct (I don't know if it was still the 4th where you are though when you played it).
Day 12 of Mr Sacks is Jan 5th, and the Wicket is available as soon as you've played the Day 12 card.
These dates are for surface London, of course. I assume that for some west-coast Americans Day 12 is the 4th, while for Aussies and Kiwis it's already the 6th. So it goes. edited by Rupho Schartenhauer on 1/5/2020

But the storylet for the Wicket, though grayed out, is visible. It says:
Visit Penstock's Wicket It's said that Penstock, the land agent, keeps the Bazaar's secrets. Perhaps he can help you with your investigations into the Neath-snow. You can spend your Taste of Lacre quality here. This will unlock on January 6th, and become unavailable in late January.

It was open for me yesterday (5th GMT), since I had played the 12th day card in the morning.

Do we have an exact date for the closing of the Wicket?

Reading your comments, it seems something went a little bit wrong on FB's side.
I suggest everyone who's played all 12 cards and still can't see the Wicket, or see it but can't play it, emails support (maybe try a hard refresh first).
Not all of my characters have seen all 12 cards yet, but two of them did finish their 12 Days at the earliest opportunity, i.e. more than 24 hours ago now, and the Wicket was immediately there. I've already visited the Sundered Sea once.
The Wicket has always opened on the 5th or 6th. I think in the early years it opened the day after the Twelfth Day of Sacks (i.e. on the 6th), but at some point this was changed to an immediate unlock after playing the Day 12 card. Not sure exactly when that change happened.
It has always closed on Jan 31st.

That's not inconsistent with what I observed, since I did not see the 12th Day card until this morning.
My recollection (not a reliable source of information for the more distant past) is that the Wicket opens for a player after they have done the 12th Day's card. But what I'm not sure of is when the 12th day's card appears.
I had thought that the 12 days of Christmas end with the Feast of the Epiphany, which is January 6. But Wikipedia agrees with phryne that the twelve days are December 25 through January 5, inclusive, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_Days_of_Christmas Phyrne may also be right that exactly when the Wicket opens has been changed at least once over the years, and used to be on January 6. I merely reported my current observations to serve as a data point.

In the hope that this is a better place to ask than the Christmas in the Neath thread:
Now that the Wicket is open, I'm confused about next steps. I've managed to accumulate enough lacre and pails to be able to upgrade to two 5-card lodgings (assuming I buy another 4 card lodging, which I can) and buy all three remote addresses. But I don't know if that's what I want to do, or even how to decide what I want to do.
Is there an advantage to having more than one 5-card lodging and more than one remote address?
For that matter, am I even asking this question in the right place? smile

There is no mechanical advantage to having more than one Remote Lodgings.
There is no mechanical advantage to having more than one 5-card Lodging, but having all three is one option for one step of Paramount Presence.
If you can already afford fancy lodgings, then there's not much value in saving Lacre for next year. Pick what you want to buy and buy it. You have time for most of your decisions (Wicket stays open for a few weeks). But if you want a Noman, I would move soon, because that gets more expensive over time. I would encourage you to get a Noman if it fits in your budget. It's... an experience.
