Delightful citizens! The Crimson Beast of Winter is abroad! For the next twelve days, search your opportunity deck for exciting visits from Mr Sacks.
And additional news! On Day 4 a new "What's the Angle?" story is available, allowing you to conspire with a bold band of rats. Who knows – you may even acquire an unusual new companion...
(Note that this story requires you have at least 5 Renown: Criminals and costs a modest 12 Fate.)
Time the Healer no longer awards Potential Christmas Cards, but you may still send the ones you have until the 31st of December.
And finally: a merry Christmas to all our wonderful fans! Winter's chill reaches even to the Neath, and the false-stars are bright in the gloom above. Light a fire, toast a seasonal crumpet, and be merry!

New story! Unfortunately, I can only choose one of them. I was deeply impressed by the story of the Duchess in the University, so I had to give up this year's new story.

That sounds great! I've never done any of the Investigating Mr. Sacks stories, but L.B.s are great and I've been saving Fate for the season.

Seasonal Stories
On the 18th of December, a new festive premium story by Nigel Evans will become available for purchase: The Brass Grail.
Scandal in London as the Bishop of Southwark is summoned to court. Old sins weigh heavily upon the mitred head. Can one ever truly escape the shadow of Hell?
Our previous Christmas premium stories are now available for purchase from Explore the Festive Season. edited by h4nchan on 12/9/2019
Since this new story is available from the Explore the Festive Season story card, I assume it will also be available until 6 Jan, right? In other words, I can buy it after the 12 Days of Mr Sacks story is complete?

One of the questions in the original mysteries list was “Why are there no foxes in the city?”

Must one play the Mr Sacks cards the moment you draw them, or will it still be in your opportunity card stack available to draw even after the respective day has passed?
I have an alt that was sitting on Day 4 of Mr Sacks for a while (I was deciding which faction to ally with), and when I made the decision about 2 days after I drew the card, it's as if the frequency of appearance has drastically fallen. I was able to flip Day 5 about 24 hours after resolving the Day 4 storylet, but I've been flipping cards for almost 48 hours now and still haven't seen any Mr Sacks cards.
Did I miss my opportunity to play through the storyline? When do the Mr Sacks cards disappear from your card stack?

@Vega: Don't worry, it's only the RNG playing tricks on you.
In fact, the cards become more frequent the longer you wait. And in the end (around Jan 15), they become pinned storylets.
The Sacks cards themselves don't disappear from your deck at all. If you were unable to play FL for a few weeks or months, for example, you'd still find them waiting for you on your return. You'd be too late to unlock Penstock's Wicket then, of course. But for the Sacks cards alone the rule has always been: playing Day 1 before Jan 6 unlocks all 12 cards.

Well, I've done it. I've been Mr. Sacks enough to finally get a present from every single Master, including the two new upgrade-presents released this year. If there's one more trip in the old carmine coat available before Neathmas is over I'm going to try it anyway just to see what happens. Worst to worst, I'll get to claim I kept Mr. Sacks' robe for the whole of next year!

But I got a question:
What's the rat's ancient agreement with Mr. Cups?

During the first Mysteries one of the questions was something along the line of "Why are there no foxes in London?" The answer, allegedly divinable from the clues in the game, was that the rats had a deal with Mr Cups to have domain over scraps (which, in real life London, is what urban foxes are renowned for) and so the foxes were expelled to ensure said monopoly for the rats. Much has been said about the fact that no amount of trawling through the most obscure corners of the game ever did uncover evidence of this (and hence frustration at the impossible Mysteries questions; c.f. the key and constable question in the most recent Mysteries)
edited by genesis on 1/4/2020

Does anyone see the option to upgrade the Royal Bethlehem lodgings in Penstock's Wicket? It's missing for me.

It’s technically supposed to open tomorrow, so it may be that you’re seeing an incomplete version that should not yet be accessible.

That's interesting. I got the 5-Card Royal Bethlehem today, and while I thought tomorrow was supposed to be Penstock Day I didn't think anything of it. I have the lodgings, although I had to use the Wink to move into the 5-Card version.
