Look out your rod and reel: the Fruits of the Zee Festival is upon us! The festival begins today, 19th August, and will end on the 30th.

As summer winds down, enjoy calming fishing trips and indulge in a cornucopian repast of delights plucked fresh from the bounteous Zee.

  • Hire a fishing boat, land a Strange Catch and trade it at the festival for special rewards!
  • Enjoy the maypole dancing, Drownie serenades, beer &c!
  • Secure an invitation to a secret feast and catch a glimpse of your Destiny. Will it be a vision of victory or a dream of darkness?
  • You may even chance upon Virginia, London’s new Lord Mayor…
Catch a ferry from Wolfstack Docks to Mutton Island to join the festivities!

The Fruits of the Zee Festival is a free event open to all players, no matter your level. You don’t need to own a boat, and if you don’t know the way to Wolfstack Docks, there’s a helpful urchin at your lodgings who will be happy to ferry you for a reasonable price.

These tiny ranges are driving me mad. I've already picked up a couple of Clay Men and half a dozen Uncanny Incunabula. I just managed to get the Pocket Watch but still no sign of the Mary Lloyd.
This isn't made any less frustrating by the fact that every other SC I get I have to trade in for menace reductions, because the Hooded Lady seems to hate me this year (I bloody voted for you when almost nobody else would, miss, the least you can do is take my maybe-fish off my hands).

I know, I know, RNG is gonna be RNG, but it's not a proper seasonal event without somebody complaining about it and I'm more than happy to take up that mantle right now.

No one even honours the (relatively) ancient tradition of the Empty Chair this year. All the efforts and achievements of the previous Mayor were in vain... because the ungrateful public doesn't bother to appreciate them! Or is it the vile Masters who would suppress them? Hold on, one more beer and a rubbery lump and I'll decide whom to blame.

So, to get the Mary Loyd's, you need catch 11 and above. Good to know! Now to find at what value the rector resides...

The Rector's at Picking... 26+. And you don't need SC 11 for the Mary-Lloyd. You can get it with SC 7 upwards (but it's never guaranteed).

All this information can be found on the wiki, and here. I'll copy it once more:
  • Picking... 26+: A Submerged Rector (Companion, P+7 W+6)
  • Picking... 26-28: A Semi-Automated Mary Lloyd (Transport, D+4, Biz+3)
  • Picking... 22+: An Anonymous White Mask, Zee-Stained and Mildewy (Hat, S+6 Dre+2)
  • Picking... 22-24: A Cured Jillyfleur Cloak (Clothing, D+6 W+4 P-1)
  • Picking... 18-20: A Nuncian Pocket Watch (Weapon, S+6, Res+2)
  • Picking... 18-20: Wrecking Boots (Boots, S+6 D+4 P-1)
  • Picking... 14-16: A Faceted Decanter of Drownie Effluvia (Weapon, S+5 W+3 D-1)
  • Picking... 10-12: Scrimshander Carving Knife (Weapon, W+3 P+2 D-1)
Strange Catch 1 - Picking... 4
Strange Catch 2 - Picking... 6-8
Strange Catch 3 - Picking... 8-12
Strange Catch 4 - Picking... 10-16
Strange Catch 5 - Picking... 12-20
Strange Catch 6 - Picking... 14-24
Strange Catch 7 - Picking... 16-28
Strange Catch 8 - Picking... 18-32
Strange Catch 9 - Picking... 20-36
Strange Catch 10 - Picking... 22-40
Strange Catch 11 - Picking... 24-44
etc.

I do have to say I'm disappointed by the lack of options to splash her during the boat trip (quite accidentally, of course). Petty, I know, but would have been satisfying nevertheless.

This should be the complete conversion table:

    Strange Catch 1 - Picking... 4
    Strange Catch 2 - Picking... 6-8
    Strange Catch 3 - Picking... 8-12
    Strange Catch 4 - Picking... 10-16
    Strange Catch 5 - Picking... 12-20
    Strange Catch 6 - Picking... 14-24
    Strange Catch 7 - Picking... 16-28
    Strange Catch 8 - Picking... 18-32
    Strange Catch 9 - Picking... 20-36
    Strange Catch 10 - Picking... 22-40
    Strange Catch 11 - Picking... 24-44
    etc.

Which brings up the question, what's the highest value Strange Catch anyone got? Just to check there's nothing hidden at Picking 50 or above... :P

I got the mask and the Submerged Rector, but haven't been able to try for anything else. And I want the bloody bicycle!

If you're still able to play Feast storylets, Idk, just keep trying? Generally, it's just bad luck if the Hooded Lady eludes you. But it's possible something went wrong on FB's side...

If the tables posted by Phyrne are correct, 7 is actually the optimal catch to get it - since it has a Picking range of 10 (which does include the full Mary Lloyd range as a subset), while higher catch values have greater possible ranges (e.g. SC8 has a range of 12), leading to a smaller probability of getting exactly the Lloyd values.

That is correct. Due to higher SC values resulting in wider Picking... ranges it's only really profitable to go for them at the beginning of the Feast, when you're supposedly going after a wider range of items, too. Once you've got only one item left to go after, your chances increase with the lowest SC unlock for that item. You don't need 10+ catches for anything, really.

Generally, I figured this is the best way to play it:
    • right at the beginning of the Feast I try to get SC in the 8-10 range. Of the available items in the Cove, I pick the one with the highest unlock requirement
    • then I slowly pick my way through the items I want, using progressively lower-value catches and smaller ranges
    • of course, there's no protection against bad luck. I have one character who consistenly got the lowest possible SC/Picking conversions and never could pick the Mary-Lloyd... but we'll probably have at least another year to try and get it without Fate anyway!

She might have stolen the mask and used it to escape the Orphanage.

She also might have stolen the mask and used it to infiltrate the Orphanage. I dunno, I kind of assumed she was doing business transactions with the Orphanage somehow (whether buying or selling), but that doesn't exactly explain how she would come into possession of a mask.

From what I've seen there's no upper limit. However, you *need* to have started Virginia's story to know she's actually looking for the mask. Otherwise you can't find it.

No, it won't reset the story, and that's not necessary either. Simply continue fishing until you find the Mask. If you're not clear about how that works exactly, have a look here...

I don't think it's anything to do with Jenny in particular, but she's worried already her Mayorship will just be another failure in a line of failures - which is likely. I totally agree with this part:

Criticise the old mayor's work wrote:

Hey, if you wanted to you could headcanon the one time she *does* get splashed as a secretly deliberate maneuvure on your part.

And now I wish you could have quite accidently overturned the boat while getting out of it/in it. Especially considering the hilarious line about Virginia looking like a cat near a bath.
Though attempting such an act would likely make Seeking seem like an innocent pastime for little kids by comparison.

I also miss the Empty Chair tradition (which could easily have been improved upon by attaching wheels to the chair for this year's event). Virginia may be entertaining, but she definitely isn't one for humour. In fact she's quite likely the most serious Mayor we had so far.

Which will definitely make it that much more interesting to intrigue against her scheme if that becomes possible, which I heartily hope it will.
