It’s Christmastime in the Neath—even the rats’ eyes have a certain festive glow.
ADVENT CALENDAR
From today until Christmas day, visiting the Fallen London Advent Calendar from midday will reward you with a gift, or something like one.
Click once to open the door for that day, and then click again to receive your prize!
Follow us on the channel of your choice (Twitter or Facebook) for reminders of when each gift is released, and check back frequently so you don’t miss out – each door is only open for a few days.
CHRISTMAS CARDS
Let your loved ones and enemies know you’re thinking of them: Christmas cards are now available!
Get your first parcel of cards through the advent calendar
Your stock of cards will be replenished weekly by Time, the Healer, starting on the 3rd of December and ending on Christmas Day. Send them to other players who are your Acquaintances (or, to send cards with a Fate cost, to other players who you are Contacts with).
Find them in your Lodgings, under Send a Christmas Card. Keep an eye out for this year’s contrary Mayoral card!
Find new players to exchange cards with on our forums, or on the Fallen London subreddit, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Use #flcards to show your interest!
GIFTS OF FATE AND NOTABILITY!
For the Philanthropic Londoner, two returning options for giving a little something to a friend (available permanently):
It is now possible to gift 50 or 100 Fate to other players.
You can do this from your Lodgings, on the Give a Gift of Fate card, or when drawing the Give a Gift! A commotion in the Square of Lofty Words card from your deck.
You can also give Notability to another player!
If you have two or more Notability, you can give a single point to someone who has none via the Recommend an Unknown Acquaintance option on A visit from Slowcake’s Amanuensis. The other player must also be ‘a significant individual’ or higher, and be Acquainted with you.
EXCEPTIONALLY FESTIVE MERCHANDISE
The Fallen London store is bursting with clothes, accessories and gift ideas for you and your delicious friends!
Featured is the Mr Sacks range, guaranteed to attract second glances, questions at your festive parties (is that Father Christmas? Where are his eyes?), and perhaps a few nightmares this holiday season!
Be certain to order your gifts with plenty of time for shipping! (Usually we’d tell you the cutoff dates for orders here, but Spreadshirt don’t seem to have published them this year.)
Update, 10th Dec: So-called snow is falling in Fallen London!
Snow has begun to fall all across London! Urchins are throwing snowballs in the streets!
Starting at noon GMT today, Time, the Healer will bring ‘snow’ to doorsteps across London. You’ll need to dig your door out, or find someone to lend a hand or tentacle to the task.
Fate can also be used to employ a certain cowled assistant – and earn unique seasonal Home Comfort items!
Acquiring pails of this ‘snow’ and learning what you can about it will unlock a selection of seasonal benefits at the end of the season, when Penstock’s Wicket opens on the 5th of January.
Note: The Snowbound effect will remain constant this year until sometime shortly after 7th January 2019.
A ‘GIFT’ FROM MR SACKS
The urchins have purloined the terrible sack of Mr Sacks once again! You may draw a gift from it (or send one to a friend) – for a price, of course.
Buy a lucky dip in Mr Sacks’ sack for yourself, or send a lucky dip draw to another player! Begin with Explore the Festive Season, available throughout London.
SEASONAL STORIES
On the 19th of December, a new festive premium story by Cass Khaw will become available for purchase. The Ceremony is a festive tale of rubbery romance.
Our previous Christmas premium stories are now available for purchase from Explore the Festive Season:
The Gift by Chris Gardiner The parcel sits brightly on your doorstep. Its ribbon is an immodest red. The card is cream, and of excellent stock. It bears no signature, seal, or watermark. A tale of terror, aberration, and the horrors beneath the Palace.
The Empress’ Shadow by Emily Short The Empress' Shadow, the only child of Her Enduring Majesty residing on the Surface, has come to London. Train servants for her in Sinning Jenny's Finishing School; uncover the political and familial intrigues that threaten London.
The Marriage of Feducci by Cash DeCuir It is the first Royal Wedding since London fell: Mayor Feducci's proposal of marriage to the Captivating Princess has been accepted! Join the Beleaguered Wedding Planner in the Shuttered Palace to make or break this historic moment.
Enjoy, delicious friends! edited by h4nchan on 12/10/2018

Merry Christmas, delicious friends!
I hereby announce that the Twelve Days of Mr Sacks have begun! Each day for the next dozen days a new card will appear in your opportunity deck, containing festive frivolity, Neathy presents and seasonal stories!
You don't need to check in every single day - as long as you've played "Day 1: A Peevish Visit from Mr Sacks?" before the 14th of January you'll have the 31st to play through the sequence.
We'll also increase how available the cards are as time passes, to make sure you don't miss them if the RNG is suffering from a touch of the Ebeneezers. The toothy spirits of Good Dice Rolls Past, Present and Future have been dispatched to imbue the old humbug with compulsory Christmas cheer.
Seasonal salutations, one and all!
And HO HO HO

"... there are fewer of [Judgements' Eggs] than once there were."
Look, lore-wise I know what this is referring to, but gameplay-wise these things are a dime a dozen from expeditions, and this is reminding me of my foolishness for using my regnant coins on an egg when I could have gotten 15 cats. Sorry FBG, nice gesture and all, but I can't help feeling a little bitter about it.

This will be my first Christmas I'm actively playing! My character exists for much longer but I always managed to miss it until now. Looking forward to what else it brings. New premium story, cant wait! Does anyone happen to know what the fate locked Christmas card's expensive wine is? Airag or tears?
Edit: Quick question, what happens to Christmas cards already sent, but not yet accepted after Christmas day? Edit 2: So apparently you don't have to accept Christmas cards, they just happen. I can see why it is like that to avoid abuse, but it is also very easy to miss! I think it would be better if we received a physical item that unlocks a one use pinned storylet and that disappeared after Christmas just like the cards. This way you won't miss the fact you got a card.
P.S. The sending Christmas cards storylet still shows last year's option, locked with Key of Dreams edited by Monara on 12/1/2018

I'll be honest, I'm growing ever more disappointed with the lack of new art - already noticed during Hallowmass, and now exacerbated by the new Mr. Sacks gifts. I understand that most resources go to Sunless Skies, but this is starting to remind me of Echo Bazaar circa 2011.

A Warning: Today's Advent code increases one's Acquaintance with the Captivating Princess.
This means that, unless something changes in the upcoming Feast of the Rose, this will lock out new players from meeting the Princess during the Feast, and therefore lock them out of the only Fate-free way to get a Dreadful Surmise.
Disclaimer: The above is based on how the Feast of the Rose played out for the past few years. This is not a guarantee that the mechanics will stay this year.

Merch! The Fate stories are quite cheap. And I must say this: I don't get started on Christmass cheer before December 15, but since I started playing FL the advent calendar fills me with Christmass cheer early. I call that a very unexpected and welcome bonus.

Here's a guide about the 12 Days. It has information about each day's ToL, Master connection and investigating option. While here we have information about the Incarnadine Robe's items.
And some cheers to Rupho Schartenhauer who wrote this great guide, but also keeps it update for 3 years already!

Many thanks! I'm not sure I'll make it to 9, but this is a great guide. Thank you!!! If you're already at Taste of Lacre 4, you can likely make it to 9 depending on your Sacksmas choices.
Day 2: Most options here give you Taste of Lacre (romantic misery / pail of snow / eery air / a little of the '68 / my good name). Day 5: Identifying with the Celestials in Veilgarden gives you Taste of Lacre (Take this dream of skies untainted) Day 8: Inviting Silas in gives you Taste (Invite him in for wine and cold meats / "Silas! You rogue! Times still hard?") Day 11: If you're a Notary or a Doctor, you can gain Taste (The door of its crimson carriage swings open) Day 12: Taking advantage of Mr Sacks gives you both Taste and a pail of snow (Take advantage of the situation)
Additionally, on Day 9, accepting his hearts and lights gives you a pail of snow.
Between all of this, it's still definitely possible to reach Taste of Lacre 9 despite all the used buckets.

As for your problem, hopefully it'll be fixed soon. Don't the probabilities of the cards appearing shoot through the roof with time?
And another question: having concluded all my sacks-visits, is there any way for me to fine-tune my lacre level? I need to get from 4 to 5 so that I can monocle a pail and get to 8. Going up to 7 first and then coming down to 5 seems the most obvious way, but all the options in the wicket take 3, so it seems a bit tricky. Is it even possible for me to do this? edited by Tsar Koschei on 1/5/2019
The "Take the air" and "Search the shore" options both drop Taste of Lacre by 1 on success or failure, despite requiring 3 to unlock the option. So if you raise your ToL to 7 and use each of those options once (or one twice, obvs) you should be at 5 and ready to use the monocle again.

I've got 8 ToL left over from last Neathmas, and I have all the lodgings from Penstock's Wicket (well, except the Brass Embassy five-card, but I'd need to sell my soul for that, and my character wouldn't do that for lodgings). What should I do with my pails of so-called snow? I already have two tattoos - can/should I try for the noman? If so, is the noman tattoo feasible if I only log in a couple of times a day?

The most profitable thing you can do is trade 7x ToL for Tears of the Bazaar when in the Nadir.
Alternatively, you could also get some rare items such as a Soothe & Cooper Long-Box or a Dark-Carapaced Crustacean.
I don't know too much on the logistics of getting a Noman Tattoo. For what it's worth, you can find a table of this year's Noman's Friend-loss on the wiki to calculate how much resources you would need: https://fallenlondon.fandom.com/wiki/Noman's_Friend

Christmas is a slow one - stuff happens over 1 month+ rather than the usual two weeks of events. The new Fate story will be released this week, and the 12 Days of Mr Sacks will begin straight after Christmas itself, culminating in the opening of Penstock's Wicket in January. You've not missed anything or done anything wrong; things just happen slowly!

Lol, Fleshy doesn't want to be friends with the terrifying princess! What kind of a gift is that??
What's tomorrow's "present," a spider in the bed? :P

Merry Neathmass to you all! I had visitors and I forgot about the event, so I was as happy as if it had actually snowed here when I turned on my PC.

After today's advent calendar's ominous special guest, I have a feeling like this year's Fate story might focus on the Captivating Princess and her plans for the Elder Continent...
... which would be awesome! edited by phryne on 12/3/2018

There are new options for the Incarnadine Robe this year: you can visit Mr Pages and Mr Wines a second time for a different Home Comfort that reportedly gives BDR.

Logging in from the linked page with access code worked for me. Do you see the message on the login screen at least? I got both a message on the login screen and a success message after logging in. I don't sadly. Clicking the advent code seems to redirect to the standard login link (https://www.fallenlondon.com/login)rather then keeping the code and having a message.

The snow won't melt before the wicket has opened and closed again in January. You can keep it until then. In terms of Lacre gain it's optimal to wait for the wicket to open before using any more snow. Then you can spend your ToL and use the monocle to rebuild it more efficiently than you would by just maxing it out now at 1 point per pail. Also keep in mind that snow should be used before it melts, but Taste of Lacre carries over to the next year so you don't have to spend all that.

Until about when the Wicket opens on 7 January. You can gain up to 2 buckets from the 12 Days as well, I believe.

Its sceptre was also a potential reward from the Mysteries, while the only evidence before then came from the Conversation on the Road from certain destinies. It seems the writers at Failbetter really like expanding on this fallen king.

So recently I got a few blue feathers in the Advent Calendar after getting into a snowball fight with a certain band of Urchins (I like to think I'll return fire next time I get the card and don't buy snow). The easy assumption is that these are the very same Urchins as from HOJOTOHO; however, it raises a couple questions in my mind. For one -- For those of you who remember HOJOTOHO vividly, was there a Gap-Toothed Ragamuffin present? Before 2017, the snowball fight still took place in the advent calendar, but if they're wearing their collanders, it's not mentioned -- and instead of giving feathers, it gave a single rat and some Legal items. The Ragamuffin was the one who bestowed this rat to you before 2017; if he was present in Hojotoho, it could mean that these Urchins have been snowballing us before even their story! For another...
What of those who sent the Valkyrie to the foreign office instead? Do they still get feathers? If so, from whom? Just some other Urchin who inherited the mantle?
It think it's Mr Veils, but at a glance the Pony Icon and the "Transportation item" description is the one you're looking for.

Well my Twelve days of Mr Sacks is stuck at 3. Probably a RNG issue.
This, unsurprisingly, buggers my chances of getting into the Wicket quite solidly.

Yes, of course. But I wanted to know when the wicket closes.
