Who can help me acquire the beast my soul has to pat?

Also if you're in possession of this beast of burden, feel free to lend it to me. It's for a greater cause. Trust me.
All you need to do is sign an agreement stating I can't be held responsible for whatever happens to it. Return condition: Unknown. To sweeten the deal, neither are you responsible for any damage this troubled creature might cause to me, my soul or anything else.

I can also take it off your hands for good.

Regards,
A person on a quest of the sorts that can't be neglected.

MISSING: MISSY THE CAT

Description: Black female cat with white markings and amber eyes. Distrustful of strangers at first, but very affectionate and loving once she gets to know you. Responds to name "Missy" and beef liver.
Last seen:: 14 November 1893, Ladybones Road. The poor thing got terrified of a rattus faber and fled lodgings.

Please, if by any chance you see this charming feline, contact http://fallenlondon.storynexus.com/Profile/Johanna~de~Silentio

I hath a box
It contains a rustle
An ancient quiet
Movement subtle.
A cat? A bat?
I cannot say.
But a box i would trade
For another this day.

I don't believe that there are any benefits to having the company of a starvling cat, unless you want a slow but reliable way to die or be driven insane.

(Cat is not a pet, but can be talked to, which will result in you getting 1 CP of wounds and nightmares; I believe the primary use for the cat lies in the search for the name, which is not currently active).

If you chose not to interact with it, I think it will just sit in your inventory, glaring at you.

Someone left this blasted thing on my doorstep. I managed to trap it in the closet, where it is absolutely shredding my good sables, and making the most dreadful yowling sounds. I must get this thrice damned cat out of my apartments, but I would much rather it go to someone who wants it, rather than some unsuspecting dupe. I can't imagine who would want one of these creatures, unless they are seeking information best left unsought, but it is yours for the taking if you but ask.

And I'm just curious. I'm quite fine with not getting boxes.)

Yes, I've gotten a few in the past few weeks.

I've now sent the d--ned beast to you, NotThisBrain. And I sent the second one to Urthdigger (at least, I presume @Urthdigger is you, and if not then you probably have bigger things to worry about). I think I'll keep the third one in case I am ever mad enough to seek the name myself. Pleasure doing business with you, mysterious individual and good sir.

Robert Maughan, please list your name that's in the orange bar at the top of Fallen London/Story Nexus, which is what people need to add you?

(Can some mod please sticky HOW TO ASK PEOPLE TO SEND YOU THINGS or something, because seriously, the constant "no, that's not your name!" is really tedious.)

A reminder: If your name appears as something different than your Twitter handle when other are selecting you for social actions, please let us know in your post or in your sig. For instance, I often show up as Renraku Fortyk rather than Nigel Overstreet, hence why I put that in my sig.

We cannot send you cats if we can't find you in our list of people. Please include whichever name the Bazaar calls you when requesting boxes.

I asked in the Seeking the Name thread - I somehow overlooked this one.

Seeking 3 cats for the Name content boundary.

Character name is: Howard John Abrahall

EDIT: Many thanks to singularity shot - sadly I got 2 spiders to the face, but I appreciate the effort.
And to Imeja, who scored me my 1st Starveling Cat - 3 more to go!

Keep them coming folks, much appreciated!

The chances of getting a starveling cat are somewhere in the neighborhood of 5% per box, and with chances that low, you're going to see a lot of variability. While searching for my own cats, I literally went 100+ boxes without seeing a starveling cat, followed by obtaining 2 in the same day. (The RNG giveth and the RNG taketh away.)

Since you're looking for at least three cats to continue your quest, what you need to do is find someone in a similar situation who's willing to share boxes back and forth with you over an extended period of time until you both have the cats you need. (Or, alternatively, someone you have a pre-existing relationship with or can reward through other means who doesn't need any cats of their own, which makes things easier though such arrangements are tougher to find.)

The odds of any one box giving you what you need are slim, so having someone send you a single box is unlikely to end your search. Given you're likely to have 19 failures for each success, posting each time you didn't see a starveling cat is likely to get a bit repetitive.

Ohhh, that would explain it. Social actions have been a tad buggy recently so I wasn't sure if that was the case.

The Duchess shouldn't get so riled up about each box. Only a third or a fourth of these creatures are actual cats. :p ...Unless they're cats morphing into spiders halfway through transit! I suppose that's the Schrödinger dilemma in Fallen London:
1) The cat is a live cat.
2) The cat is a live sorrow spider.

It'll usually be 2 because that's how Fallen London rolls.

If people are unfortunate with their boxes, they may also try to get Opening a bundle of oddities 99. This, as it happens, gives you a cat. Suggested actions are Join in their 'games', which is a luck challenge, and Make your Sulky Bat disappear which requires a certain range of shadowy. The recorded values on those pages are the maximum values of boxes you can get.

Maybe one day I'll send you my the darling. I'm just not sure if my little Puss Puss is quite ready to leave the caring hands that tried to bring it food and care for it, or really not get eaten, when it came to all alone and disheveled. It's replaced this one as the sticky thanks to Sara!

Also, the Starveling Cafe will take all kinds of cats, boxed or otherwise, if you don't mind sending to a home that already has a few cats filling the premises.
