I know that Fallen London was rife with such conundrums,

I'm not getting this either, and I have four, maybe five contacts. Possibly a bug? I have the same issue. I think it has to do with the post-redesign profiles not being able to recognize when you're logged in and the identity of your character. Not being able to edit the "They say..." falls under a similar umbrella of issues.

I haven't played the game for a while(like 5 months),did Heart's Desire or any other ambition had an update?

None yet!
But next updates on any ambition should be the conclusion to it/them! Not sure if this will happen soon though, but it's a nice thought!
