  • I recently ended up receiving a contest of beauty plant challenge and ended up winning. After about a day, I read my messages and saw that I had simultaneously lost and won against myself, even losing needs of a singular plant progress, instead of going against the initial person who sent me the challenge. Is this a bug I should report, or is this some weird interaction that occasionally happens and should not worry about?

Pretty sure I saw someone else report this about ten days ago (unless that was you, too?) You should definitely contact support.

Unless this month's Exceptional Story is: "YOUR HORRIFYING DOUBLE FROM PARABOLA AND THEIR PLANT BATTLE AGAINST YOU."

    I mean, it's Fallen London.

What's the appeal / use of Hunter's Keep? I'm at Time Passing... 9. Was I supposed to bring Dramatic Tension from London? I thought I'd lose that once I went to Zee.

If anyone has the information to hand I'd really like to know what the potential rewards are for breeding the Rubbery Hound. I've bred exactly one to date and then sacrificed my toadbeast for an owl, so I will definitely return to Flute Street for at least one more - but they are a little expensive in actions, so I am a little reluctant to experiment with the various breeding options personally.

Fate locked, but a PM would be most appreciated.

How can you not love the three sisters? It's a marvellous mashup of several varieties of mythology with a typically Gothic twist.

Mechanically, Hunter's Keep carousel first pays off after two loops and then pays off for every loop thereafter. In terms of how it pays off, there is a rare success at the end which can yield a searing enigma but it is vanishingly rare, there are better ways to make money if money is what you are interested in. It's pretty good if you want to grind watchful (and have finished the University investigation) as you won't be punished as harshly for nightmares as you would in London.

If your Watchful/Persuasive are in the mid 100s it's reasonably profitable/challenging, although mostly it's for either (a) a change of scenery, (b) a source of Unusual Love Stories, or (c) desperately looking for any clue as to who put the Key in the Well.

You can't bring Dramatic Tension, but you can build it up at Hunter's Keep. Once Time Passing reaches 10 your options become obviously narrowed.

I have two mood cards in my hand right now. I am both Poet Laureate and Scholar of the Correspondence, so I cannot think of any good use for them. I am not interested in building Renown beyond 40 for any faction. Eventually, though, I want to acquire an Impossible Theorem.
Apart from the Theorem, are there any other uses for Moods for someone in my psoition?

There isn't a great use, but there is a use...

Robbing a Drunken Rat in Spite is, I think, the most profitable way of spending your Someone is Coming... quality. The main reward scales with your Shadowy stat. Saving up your SiC and using your Mood to boost your Shadowy will net you a couple extra echos. Not a lot, but something.

However, there is a caveat. The main reason robbing a rat is profitable is because of the rare success. If you don't hit a rare success, then it's not the best way to spend your SiC. And the Mood doesn't affect the rare success at all. It's just ameliorating the non-optimality of the regular success.

How high is your Renown: Criminals? I am looking for Mood cards to get to 50 Renown, because once you get over 45 the Shadowy requirement to increase your Renown with Favours begins to rise, and it has risen past my modified Shadowy. (And I am a Poet Laureate and Scholar of the Correspondence, too.)

I have just become a Poet Laureate which was an enjoyable grind. But... now what? I know I can increase Scholar of the Correspondence but I'm not sure where to get started

EDIT: oh dear - is the university the only path?

You can get boosts through the Forgotten Quarter or some of the fate-locked companions, but the University is the main way.

    And by writing a symphony.
if you have been thrown out of the university, you cal always return.

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies and gentlemen. I think I will hasten my Impossible Theorem acquisition, just to get rid of one of the cards!

The PoSI capering relicker gift is better when your SiC is level 5 or below. I suspect tat that card is frequent enough that it is not profitable to wait to raise SiC to levels where the bonus profit from mood is better than the ~2e you could have gotten from the mood-gaining action if you used it elsewhere (new FQ expeditions).
(the mood is some +20 over the best shadowy hat, requiring about 20 robbings to reach 2 echoes, which is 120 cp of SiC (level 15) - you will almost definitely meet the gifting relicker multiple times in that timespan (and then always rob the rat usually 0 to 2 times until your SiC is between level 4 and level 5 exactly, followed by getting the posi gift)

That's a very good idea; I should have thought of mentioning it (because that's what I did!). It's very unlikely that you'll get an Impossible Theorem without a Mood boost, even at our level.
