Can I go back to the old design? Messages in this topic - RSS

I hate to be so negative immediately after the big roll-out, but I don't like the new site design. I can understand how it looks nicer, but it feels much less utilitarian to me. The big deal to me is how much less compact the new version feels - I think my mouse wheel finger might drop off if I use the new design for too long. Is there an option anywhere to go back to the old design? I understand that I'll probably feel better about the new design after a couple of weeks, but I'd prefer to not have to go through that.

It looks a lot less nice, honestly. A Victorian game should look old-fashioned, dammit.

Hello! There is no option to revert to the old site design, but we will be monitoring the new site, along with its feedback and bug reports throughout the next few months to make sure that things are working as intended.

If you notice anything that's not working quite right, especially on uncommon devices or browsers, please do email us at support@failbettergames.com. This can include some user experience bits too, like if it's not so much a bug as something that is very confusing within the new design of the site. These are the kind of things we'll be looking at first.

If you have more general feedback about the site, for example things about the aesthetics of the site, or new features you were hoping we'd add (ie. being able to gift fate, a new outfit slot, etc.) it'd be very helpful if you can send that directly to feedback@failbettergames.com. Feedback is very important to us, but we'll be covering functionality/usability bits first.

This.

An immersive game like Fallen London needs an immersive user interface. Well, at least I think so.

The current design greatly clashes with the Victorian theme.

Wow, I just realized you can't see other people's journals in the corner of the page anymore. It makes me sad to know Fleshy's antics shall now go unappreciated upset

I certainly hope they'll be re-implementing "Who else is here", myself.

the main problem I have is that the game is currently semi-unplayable without my extensions. Hopefully they aren't too difficult to update, and the authors are willing.

I would say I see the opposite problem, actually. The new design seems more utilitarian, for the most part - but at the cost of style. My favourite new touch, and a genuinely excellent one, are the redrawn, expanded location banners (including the extension of the player character's current one to their profile) but everything down from that is... a mixed bag. Regarding the profiles in particular, oh, my word... it is an aesthetic mess. (And one can't delete journal entries through it anymore for some reason?) Thankfully, the classic Storynexus profiles are still up, so you can continue to look at those (and delete your journal entries!) as you wish; you just have to follow the corresponding links to them instead of the ones provided by the game.

... I sure hope that this is a permanent fixture and not something that the developers missed in the renovation process and will 'fix' in a day or two or that they're just planning to retire slightly later. By the Bazaar, I want my classic Storynexus profile to stay, if nothing else.

Ideally, they'll smooth over the clearer aesthetic drawbacks relatively shortly (i.e. the entire new profile design save the introduction/banner section at the top) and introduce the option to switch between the classic and new styles at will. I really don't think the new design is all bad - there are several parts of it that I quite like! - but I second the OP in that, at least in its exact current state, I'd probably rather not get used to it if I have a choice in the matter.

Can we at least get a skin of the old site? The current one kinda hurts my eyes.

Agreed. Why do I have to open a menu just to see how many actions I have left or log out?
