You guys, a Judgement Egg! I honestly wonder if this is a regular result or I got lucky with a Rare Success. [/spoiler] Plus the requisite amount of creepy lore about spiders.
I got the same! I thought was maybe rare. edited by Magpie Dandy on 9/5/2018

This was the same result I got. Going by the lack of "you got a mysterious treasure" screen, I think this might be a guaranteed result, short of a rare success or something similar?

Looks like rewards are fixed. Is anybody willing to calculate EpA?

Words cannot express my delight in having an outright HEROIC character attempt to foil my own (distinctly non-heroic and quite megalomaniacal) character's schemes.
So, in lieu of words, I shall resort to a more appropriate vocalization for the occasion: MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

A little back of the envelope scribbling:
So far, posted rewards from the 40-supply Sanctuary have values of 12.50, 140.5, 187.5, and 187.5 Echoes. So mean return (I know, small sample size!!) = 132E.
Actions needed are: 10 to get 10 Docker Favours (cost for this is variable) 10 to trade 10 Docker Favours for 40 Supplies (cost for this is 5E) 1 to begin the Expedition 13 to do the Expedition (assuming automatic success and you don't need to foil your rival) 1 to finish the Expedition
Total = 35 Actions
EPA = (132-5)/35 = ~3.63!! ... or a little less, depending on what Dock Favours cost.
Is this right?!?!

The 40 supply one is 3 night-whispers
Assuming you use the 3-crate option It's 13 actions w/o getting crates or letting your opponent gain on you. Add 2 actions to lower your opponent's advancements. Then 40 crates = 10 dock favours +10 actions 1 Favour =?? + 1 action So 35 actions (minimum)
62.5*3/35 = 5.36EPA (rounded) Without loss of resources, little gain of the opponent and assuming you use dock favours.
This would make it very profitable

Yes. The 30 supply one is the one to go for - the reward is 2 items worth 62.5 echoes each. The expedition takes 1 action to start, 1 action to finish, and as long as you can 100% the 3 progress challenge, it takes 10 actions to get to 30 progress.
(The strategy to go for seems to be taking the 3 progress action for the first 8 actions and the final action, and the 2 progress action for the second-to-last action if you never find A Sign , the 1 progress action for that action if you encounter A Sign, and you save an action if you encounter A Sign twice, which should happen about 8% of the time)
The cost of this expedition is 29 crates (as the first progress is free), minus whatever you save from A Sign. There are 9 chances for A Sign to save you 4 crates, and 1 chance for A Sign to save you 3 crates. Each Sign has a 5% chance, for a total average savings of (9*.05*4) + (.05*3) = 1.95 crates. Thus the average cost of the expedition is 27.05 crates and 12 actions.
Now we have to calculate the cost of the crates. Assume no docks favors (because these are not reliable), and instead assume that the crates are gained by getting Strong Backed Labor in the side streets (for 13.5 echoes and 1 action per labor, plus 1 action to convert the labor into 5 crates). This makes each crate cost 2.7 echoes and .4 actions, and so getting the 27.05 crates costs 73.035 echoes and 10.82 actions
The expedition then takes an average 10.82 actions (for the crates) plus 12 actions (for the expedition itself) for a total of 22.82 actions. The expedition reward is 125 echoes worth of items, minus the average 73.035 cost of the crates needed, for a total of 51.965 echoes profit 51.965 echoes divided by 22.82 actions gives 2.277 EPA, making this one of the most profitable grinds in the game.
As a side note this also makes docks favors considerably more valuable - 1 docks favor 1 action and 1 echo (assuming you buy rostygold wholesale) gives you 4 crates - 4 crates being worth 10.8 echoes and 1.6 actions. Deducting the cost, this makes the favor worth 9.8 echoes and .6 actions, and plugging in a conservative estimate of 2.277 echoes per action gives a value of 11.16 echoes per docks favor.
Edit: These values are not quite exact - they ignore the slight diminishing returns to signs after the second, which would reduce the epa slightly (although the chances of getting more then two signs is very low), but they also ignore the roughly 8% chance of getting 2+ signs and saving an action. If anything the actual EPA is probably close to 2.28 edited by eaglewiz on 9/5/2018 edited by eaglewiz on 9/5/2018 edited by eaglewiz on 9/5/2018

Something I find strange is how the Wikia states that for the completion of Sanctuary of Crimson Petals you gain 1x Portfolio of Souls and 2x Bright Brass Skulls. When I completed it I gained 3x Night-Whispers! (now completing it a second time to see it's rewards) For the Tomb of Silken Thread I got upon completion: 1x Judgement's Egg + 1x Parabola-Linen For the Chalcocite Pagoda: 1x Searing Enigma.
Perhaps the first time you go you gain the most Items, and each subsequent time you gain less and less?

There are two possible successes for the Sanctuary; the one listed on the wiki and the one that you got! They both have different text, as well.
