No new items? Not a single one? That's... a bit of a downer.

We got all that Zubmariner-related stuff before that game was released, so I was expecting something similar for Sunless Skies...

There is literally nothing for me to do here after seeing the two Contrarian storylets.

Welp, if the biyearly schedule was to be believed this was the year to add new items, but looking at the fate section in the cove nothing new is available. Might as well head back to London now that I've experienced literally all the new content that was added (though I do have to say I love the chair).

The chair is great! Do the chair storylet as often as you can for Extraordinary implications, and visit the Custodial Chef to turn them into Incunabula. When you get back to London, visit the University and use the Incunabula to make Searing Enigmas. Capital!

The empty chair is fantastic just for the meta humor.

A bit unfortunate, but I'm more or less fine without new cove items. So long as there's a relief every other year or so, I'm content with having the Festival staying relatively the same.

For more practical application of the Festival, I'd like to know if the event is a good echo grind. After all, I did just get 12.5 echoes in a matter of 5 actions from sitting in a chair. Would it be best to stay on the island for the time being, or would I be better suited sailing back to London?

Is "Look out your rod and reel" a reference to something, or regional/fictitious slang? I'm fairly sure I understand what's being said, but the phrase reads very eccentrically.

A "rod and reel" is very uncommon English slang for a fishing rod (the reel of tackle and the rod itself). Beyond that? Not sure.

Maybe it’s supposed to be “load up” your rod and reel

Is the chair a random airs thing? I'm having trouble finding it.

Maintaining a controlling interest in my soul requires a pretty constant negotiation between the various shareholder interests. Thankfully the Fingerkings 23% control makes a pretty good foil to unite the other factions enough to get to 51%.

Uncommon where, out of curiosity? I can vouch that it is a very common phrase (too old to be slang) over most of the United States.

I don't quite understand what the chair is supposed to mean. I've pieced together that its a joke about Fettuccini, but not much else.

Pardon my ambiguity—I was more referring to the "look out your [noun] " part.

I think it's a sly reference to how we all assumed the Mayor was obliged to show up for every Fruits of the Zee event.

I really like this event most out of all of them, in large part because there's minimal random chance and no opportunity cards involved in getting wasted on Mutton Isle. Honestly - the luck-based cards can be such a nuisance in terms of seeing all the content for the other events, whereas this is fairly straightforward.

Debating an empty chair is a long-standing political tradition. There was a much-publicised case a few years ago, at one or another party convention, that I won't dwell on, but there are examples dating back the better part of a century, at least.

No new items, two snippets of content. I'm kinda disappointed, but 5 actions to get to Mutton Island is something. At least I can grind stormy-eyed if I want.

The use of the chair is certainly consistent with what we've seen to date of the Contrarian's character. It's a whimsical act, that appears to give people what they want (a visit from the Mayor!) but not in a way anyone anticipated.

"Look out" in this context means "dig out", or possibly "go looking for and dig out".

Oh, yeah, this is Contrarian all over. It's taking something that's, in itself, incredibly simple (an empty chair; a discussion of politics; a law-and-order mayoral campaign) and, with a little nudging, turning it into grand political theatre (a series of emotional displays worthy of the opera; a lifetime's work; a scheme that's part revolutionary plot, part satirical farce, part intelligence-gathering on a massive scale).

Correct to a word. Even without all the ulterior motives, it's plenty sufficient as a way to let the masses placate themselves--it comes best straight from the horse's mouth.

"The beauty of it, if I may say so myself, is that it can represent whoever or whatever you want it to. My policies, Feducci's, Feducci himself. Really: we should abolish the Mayorality and replace it with that chair."

You'll want the Chilly Future for that, assuming you have the prerequisites.
