I got a question about one of the mysteries that just passed. The ''What does the Bishop of Bulwark keep in his barn?''. For all I know it's a wings-of-thunder bat because you just breed other animals with it, but what the heck is up with the ''Mr. Hearts'' one? He keeps Mr. Hearts in his barn? I mean at one point one would consider that Mr. Hearts is the bat hiding in that cage, so that would make him quite a kinky master, wouldn't it? But either way when also considering the Vake story which also at one point describes what the Vake's skin is like (if I didn't totally mix up some details, but in that one very dark cave that's beneath the neath one has a fight) , and unless that was just some kind of disguise, then one would really consider the masters to be bats...wouldn't that be fun? I'm still very much open though to hear the truth about why one of the Masters is a viable answer! The wings-of-thunder bat is a misdirection on both a lore and meta level. Prior to The Rat Catcher, we had no idea whether the wings-of-thunder bat was even real, but even then, its description did not match that of the creature in the barn. The wings-of-thunder bat flies loudly, whereas the creature in the barn is silent, and it is dark as night - matching the description of a Master - rather than a discrete, loud bat.
There is not a literal breeding occurring in the barn but rather the Red Science or some similar means of transformation. Note that it is Mr. Hearts who gives away the Empyrean Redolence needed to create even more complex creatures, and it remarks that it tires of hyenas. Mr. Hearts has stated that it has children by continuity through conjoining disparate flesh, a reference to its role in the Labyrinth of Tigers.
Mr. Hearts is not kept in the barn at all times.

How does one trim their deck?
Every time you get a card, check if you can rid yourself of the unlock requirements for it.
- Sell any of your companions that have a card of their own (no more Urchins, Accomplices, Henchmen, Lizards, etc.)
- Move to a Remote Address (gotten either at Christmas or through The Haunting at the Marsh-House ES) to rid yourself of city vices cards
- Stay in a location without useless cards (the Labyrinth or the Forgotten Quarter have none, I like to stay in Lodgings because the two location specific cards there are both quite rare and very profitable. When you have Urchin favours best stay in the Flit to call them in)
- And a sundry other optimisations: keep A Boxed Cat? or A Partiall Unwrapped Cat? in your inventory to stop receiving cat box cards, keep your favours below 5 as much as possible to avoid conflict cards, max out your Plant to 19 (don't get rid of it - that'll just give you a card to start growing a new one), make sure you have less than 100 Proscribed Material to avoid the Libraryette for Mr Pages card, keep your menaces low to stop the cards that unlock at 2 wounds/scandal/suspicion, and probably more stuff
- From here, as you flip cards, if you find one you can get rid of - do!
Lodgings are also interesting to optimise, because they can't be sold yet many of the early game ones are horrendous for almost everything. If you've bought a bunch and are a minmaxing type, Seeking can be used to get rid of them all. On the other hand, every 4-card lodging is both Frequent and gives 3 scraps (4 for the Bazaar), so they're definitely worth buying.

I stay the heck away from the Relickers personally, and only use the Lodgings options. Statistically speaking, the Relickers options should always be a net gain, but the RNG is fickle and I don' trust it!

Alright I've been wondering: I need a little bit of Veils Velvet for special needs, and I've been collecting scrap for quite a while now, but my main concern is now failing the 50/50 four times now and losing just more than one would hope. I'm currently at 730 and I kind of just want to know how others that have been at it for a while have done it? Do you just use your lodgings cards only, or do you also feel bold like me and go for every relicker you see? I already own every one of the lodgings that are available in the Bazaar, save for the Embassy room, but these cards just generally don't pull my attention as much as a relicker, even though I do use them all up of course. But times like these really make me question the legitimacy of just constantly gambling with my scraps...Note that I also call in favours at the Flit with the urchins for some extra scraps too. edited by Siegron on 8/16/2018

The Relickers give, on average, 0.5 scraps for the "some scraps" option and 1 scrap for each of the armful options. This means that they're a Very Infrequent card that, on a long-term average, is about as good as the tier 1 lodgings.
Just trim your deck and make sure you have all three 4-card lodgings - they are all Frequent and give 3-4 scraps each. Don't bother with anything else, except perhaps the 2-scrap lodgings if you're really focusing on scraps.

The double-armful options are risky but viable in the short run, if you stop gambling while you're on top, with maybe 3-5 more wins than you statistically should have. If you're lucky and get that quickly enough you end up getting enough scraps per Action to be worth it, but if you're unlucky I suppose you might never get there, or end up spending many Actions just to break even, at the low return of 1 scrap per Action. It's a gamble that worked out for me, but it's still a gamble. And not a big enough gamble to get you to 3200 scraps.

To re-enter your court you need a) to grind Imperial Legitimacy in Wilmot's End (it won't take too many actions) and b) do a successful term as a Port Carnelian governor. Then, the Court re-opens for you.

I'm partial to the theory that says that both Mr Hearts and a Wings-of-Thunder bat are in the barn, though probably not simultaneously. When a new creature exits the barn, the bat is in residence; when a hole-in-the-sky shape flies away, Mr Hearts is present.

The Skinnyman sheet has a cell that recommends searching for all "Tier 7" and "Tier 8" items. Might anyone have a list of what these are? They don't all exist, and some of them might be Fate-locked. Among items that are grouped into upconvertable series in your inventory, T7 refers to the ones that sell to the Bazaar for ~300 echoes, and T8 the ones that sell for ~1500.
Grouped by inventory heading, ordered by existence and acquisition style:
Available Via Relickers
Infernal: Coruscating Soul is T7, "Something Secret"/The Reported Location of a One-Time Prince of Hell is T8.
Rag Trade: Scrap of Ivory Organza is T7, Veils-Velvet Scrap is T8.
Rumor: Intriguer's Compendium is T7, Rumormonger's Network is T8.
Wild Words: Starstone Demark is T7, Breath of Void is T8.
Tiers 7 and 8 Can Be Obtained By Other Means
Mysteries: Dreadful Surmise is T7, Impossible Theorem is T8.
Wines: Tears of the Bazaar is T7, Vial of Master's Blood is T8.
(Rubbery: Nodule of Fecund Amber is T7, Fluke-Core is T8?)
Only Tier 7 is Obtainable
Elder: Elemental Secret is T7. No T8 item is known.
Luminosity: Ray-Drenched Cinder is T7. No T8 item is known, but the T8 Wines item is thematically appropriate for this item category.
(Contraband: Fabulous Diamond is T7?)
No Items of T7 or Higher Are Known to Exist
Academic, Cartography, Nostalgia, Influence
Diamonds and Rubbery are not usually considered regular item progressions because they don't upconvert and don't participate in T3 side-conversions. However, they do have a similar price progression. If considered on this scale, Fecund Amber and Fabulous Diamonds are T7, and Fluke-Cores are T8.
To my knowledge, the only Fate-locked item on this list is Fabulous Diamonds, although several items have additional sources that are Fate-locked (especially during Sackmas). The end reward for Seasons of Exceptional Friendship is (almost?) always a T7 item of some description.
One other item which ought be considered quasi-T7 is Cantigaster Venom. This item does not have an item category because it is equipable. It is Fate-locked.

What is the best best new piece to work on after being restored to the Expresses court?
I just got restored to court and I'm wondering which work has the best payoff. I have all of my Renown at least above level 5 so that isn't an issue for works requiring it. If you've also unlocked the Court of the Wakeful Eye, definitely the Carnelian ballet because it accumulates Tribute on top of the typical reward. Personally, though, I'd recommend playing through every option. I'm currently doing so to keep the Poet-Laureate grind interesting, and that's what makes Poet-Laureate my favorite grind so far. The text is worthwhile, you receive positive reinforcement fairly often, and there's so much variation on what you can do.
My personal favorite work is a Celestial Spectacle (a play). It's by far one of my favorite pieces of text in the game. Others are oddly satisfying, like the practical undergarments and song for the people. Try them all, I say: it'll be worth your time.

Let me add that the sheet was made with my delicious partner, Arandia! And if you see a dark corner on the top right part of a cell it has notes attached to it; if you hover, you can see those notes including T7 and 8 items, but also other remarks (all lodgings).

By not having requirements fulfilled for cards whenever possible. Many can be avoided through fate, others though selling items, others still are avoidable but you're stuck forever with them if you get them.

I know for a fact they show up near the checkbox to actually use them (so right inside an action's "card" in the main UI) but I don't know if you can find them in your inventory/qualities.

Both can also be gotten through Fate-Locked stories - for the Fragment, it's a couple of ESes, while the Egg can apparently be gotten from Empress's Shadow (among other places) which is cheaper (and considered an excellent story for many other reasons).
Additionally, Fragments tend to actually give a fragment of some contingency procedure from higher up on the Chain when you get them (with one exception I believe), so the echo of the action is itself valuable.

Personally if I do get a Relicker I only go for the minimum recertification option.
Going higher than that is too risky with the RNG, plus dropping 4 Scraps isn't really a loss.
